Official GTAV Whine and Complain Thread

Even if this isn't an attempt at a new Driv3rgate-esque cover-up, the loss of that thread is a surprise, unlike if we had an Online DLC with horses to celebrate RDR2, like I mentioned on that other thread.

What happened? I'm completely lost here. How can an entire thread just disappear?

It was derailed to off topic banter about other GTAs and baseless bashing. I think that's why it disappeared.

If there's a complaint, this thread seems to be the right place for it.

Sh*ts on GTA V so far.

Still early to judge but I may say it's far superior to GTA V in the physics/NPC aspect(Expected due to not being dragged down because of lackluster hardware) . The rest is incredible as well. Currently The story and characters seem better. (and that's coming from a guy who liked GTA V but so far RDR2 seems to be the better game)

So now you are going to throw gta 5 and forget all about it?

Don't compare these two games. They are both great in their own ways, don't start a fight now!! Plus this is about complain thread about gta 5 not rdr2, stop bringing that game to every subject, video or topic. ENOUGH.

I urge you to take a good, honest look inward. Read @Lock n' Stock's post. Now read yours.

One has aggressive language directed at another individual, the other has zero.

Who is starting a fight, exactly?

GTA V is actually an old gen (Xbox, PS3) game, RDR2 is a next gen (XboxOne &PS4) game. Hardware difference is amazing. I would'nt be surprised if RDR2 blows GTA out of the water. Back in 2013 everyone shocked how GTA V is working on those old consoles. Time flies.

Come on guys, let's not get worked up about this.

Kind of regret making that post tbh lol. GTA V is great, but I'm loving RDR2 so far.

Playing Red Dead Redemption 2 has put a further nail into the coffin that GTA V's weapon wheel is complete whack. I like in Red Dead Redemption 2 that you have to select your loadout before doing anything. You can't stuff 50 shotguns, pistols, rifles etc down your pants like Rambo.

I've always disliked GTA V's weapon wheel because it devalues individual weapons' uses.

I don't see anyone getting worked up. And I have no idea why you would regret making that post....unless you're not liking RDR2 as much as you thought you were? Your post was a completely benign comment that no well-adjusted, self-aware adult could even imagine having a "problem" with.

I stand by my last post 100%.

One thing I'm curious about: How does the overall graphical realism of RDR2 compare with the XBox One/PS4 version of GTA V?

Well it's more beautiful but realism? Better but not that much. Similar art style from R*.

Hope this post of mine fits appropriately into this thread, here...

Few days ago, I've modded my GTA V for the first time. Not much and I didn't add any custom content, just a script loader & Vehicle Spawner. But all I can say is wow!! I'm having so much fun with flying Delorean (uhh, Deluxo), Ruiner 2000 and/or armored Kuruma to the point where I'm wondering why the heck Rockstar never integrated those into story mode, to begin with?!

The game is already bad enough as it is, but adding all this custom content into a story mode, Single Player would at least make me want to play the game one more time...

Shark Cards baby. That's the reason. I've modded my PS4 save so I have access to content up until LRCC. It's like my own little Story dlc pack. Surprisingly the MK2 weapons don't despawn in single player.

Yeah, but aren't Shark Cards exclusive to Multiplayer? What about those who don't give a damn about GTAO (such as myself for example & judging by the feedback here on GTAF many other folks)

I remember trying GTAO once or twice. Didn't have a playing partner, so I ended up doing these story multiplayer missions, or whatever they're called. And then all of the sudden (and for no apparent reason) someone (another player, definitely not NPC) started shooting at me & destroyed my car, right after I've had it fixed & sorted out at the garage...

And Shark Cards are the REASON the content is exclusive to multiplayer. Why let people test out the new stuff in single player, when they can potentially buy a Shark Card and test it out in multiplayer.

Right, I see your point...

Nope, not going to happen. From my point of view - I already gave them the money to buy GTA V in the first place, and they (Rockstar) updated the game without my consent (or even asking me for that matter), filling it up with gigabytes & gigabytes of useless stuff, therefore all that extra content now became part of what I paid for (the game itself, GTA V) & belongs to me. Besides, If I'm not paying for MS to update my Windows, or even Android to update my phone, then what makes them think they're any different?

I realize certain folks might have different opinions regarding this (and I'm not looking to start a fight), just stating my personal opinion. So let's just keep it at that. :sigh:

You do realize that a point of view or opinion that contradicts reality is illegitimate?

They didn't update GTA V, they offered additional content for GTA Online that you can choose to purchase or not purchase. I choose to have nothing to do with GTA Online. Rockstar did not need your consent to offer additional content. They did not need to consult you personally. But you already knew that.

Short and simple, no. Offering optional, additional content is one thing, that is something most companies do nowdays. Like, for example - you buy a new car, or even a HiFi, computer, etc & then you're given options to "upgrade" & buy additional content. And that would be absolutely fine IMO.

However, what Rockstar did (and keeps on doing with every single update) is forcing more & more content into my game, downloading huge amounts of data, not accessible in Story mode. No one asked me if I want to update my game, or even if I want to download optional GTAO stuff, they just forced their decision upon me & everyone else. So yes, from my point of view it would have been illegal to let's say download Deluxo, or armored Kuruma through a 3rd party website, but I see nothing wrong in being able to spawn it manually through trainer or a mod, since it is already part of the game itself, which I LEGALLY own.

So, just like I said earlier, let's keep it at that. Not going to say anything else that would (and eventually would) derail the thread, just wanted to "whine & complain" about GTA V content policy & voice my personal point of view ... whenever you agree or not.

I don't really understand what you mean. If content that Rockstar is selling is being transferred to our drives whether we pay for it or not, then I wasn't aware of it, and I definitely would not support that. Which means that if Rockstar is doing that, the only way I would play any future games of theirs is if I can buy them from the bargain bin.

But regardless, you have said multiple things that are outright false. I didn't feel like addressing them in your first post, but in your last you said:

which I LEGALLY own

...which is flat out incorrect. You do not own any digitally distributed game. If you purchase a game on a disc or cartridge that does not require an online DRM service then you do own a copy of that game. You don't own the rights to the information, but you do own the copy of the game. That doesn't apply to GTA V or GTA: Online.

You brought up legality: You agreed to the terms of service by playing the game. You agreed to a legally binding contract. If you want to argue that it shouldn't be legally binding, then you are arguing that you are child-like, and do not have the capacity to make your own decisions. That's why children can not enter into contracts. If you didn't agree to the contract, you should have stayed away from the game.

I don't like it any more than you do, but I'm also an adult, and I realize that I don't require a game like I require food and water. My only right is to agree to the terms of service or not.

My apologies, I thought you were just trolling me, or protecting Rockstar, for whatever the reason.

Yes, I really meant every word I said. The game is being self-updated every time a new update gets released. Upon launching the shortcut, it calls for launcher, which then "checks" the game & updates if necessary. Don't know if it's possible to do so now (maybe they've patched it?) but I remember trying to skip the procedure some time last year & wasn't letting me. Just kept on canceling the update & resuming it back on, each time you launched the game again. To the point where it was driving me crazy, because these updates, downloaded content sometimes take up to an hour (or longer) to finish, downloading god knows what, and then I start up Single-Player, story mode only to find out that the game is still the same as it was before *shrug* Go figure... At the moment, my GTA V folder is 76,6GB "heavy", which is also the largest game I've ever seen (or owned), ever. Remember, there are no mods in my game - just the original content with few added DLLs and ASIs.

Plot twist, my GTA V is not digitally distributed copy. Updates came through online distribution, yeah (not saying otherwise) but I own the retail (boxed) copy with 8 or 9 DVDs, don't remember. There was also an interesting story, somewhat related to this thread when I tried to activate the game and it kept throwing me errors. As it turned out, my copy was distributed with Steam-activation key for the game X2. It took me several days to sort it out with Rockstar tech support, and it was necessary for me to prove the ownership by sending them a receipt & pictures but they worked it out & activated the game on my behalf.

Yes, you are right in that GTA V is not necessarily digitally distributed. I actually have the same box with however many discs. I didn't state things as precisely as I should have, but I did say "If you purchase a game on a disc or cartridge that does not require an online DRM service". In that case you don't own anything except the paper and plastic. Or to look at it another way, you may own the copy of information on the disc as well, but it's legally worthless to anyone but you.

This is why I buy from GOG whenever possible. And practices such as Bethesda stealth-uploading paid mods, and always-online single player, and monetization of single player, and broken releases, etc. are why I wait until a game is under $20--with ALL content--before buying from offending companies. I can make that small sacrifice.

CD Projekt RED is proving that in the U.S. and similar markets, obtrusive DRM is unnecessary, serving only to frustrate paying customers while pirates continue to pirate. I simply don't like to see anyone attempting to justify entitlement to games, as there is no justification. If everyone acted in the same way, there would be no more games.

I've just found out about that LS-UR station, that Black Madonna mix is awesome. As with other other things however, Cockstar prefers to make it Online-exclusive.

I got the physical copy too. Long story short - get an older version no-cd + older version sc, downgrade the game with it and play whenever you want. Firewall entire game. Backup those few exes and update.rpf if you ever wish to play online.

I lost mah cool and done it after the damn goog*e captcha crap said I am a bot and would not let me through. Not going to unblock my firewall for google and other crap V comes with.

The only reason I insisted on going online was because of what Rockstar said in their manuals, how playing "online" improves gaming experience. Being able to track & log stats and similar stuff. Kinda stupid I know, so I only got myself to blame *shrug*. I had high expectations of GTA V (apparently too high) because I assumed the game would follow the same path as all other games in the franchise.

Anyhow, thanks for the tip, appreciate it! 👍

Cherry tapping pistols?

I might have used the wrong term, but you know how you can quickly tap the fire button and the pistol would fire a little faster? They changed it so that you can't do that anymore.

There's double-tapping, but I wasn't aware of the rapid-tap technique you refer to. I guess I'll never be able to benefit from it now, though!
