Oddly enough, this is one of the very few areas I would actually give an ever-so-slight edge to IV over V. Even though both systems suck (again, for my tastes, anyway) at least with IV you had a very small chance of getting a Pay 'n' Spray to work, but I found it was almost impossible to get the cops to not see me go in. Once in a while, though, when it did work out, it at least felt a tiny bit like old school GTA.

I actually use this method a fair bit in GTA IV and it's surprising how effective it is. It's quite cool (and intense) trying to get to the Pay & Spray hoping the cops don't see you enter. I remember the first time trying it with GTA V and was pretty deflated it didn't work at all.

The main difference I find with using Pay 'n' Sprays in the HD era is the small detail of the garage door position.

In IV, it's always open, allowing you to swoop in pretty quickly. In V, it's always closed which results in precious time being lost when in a hurry. Combine this with the terminator AI police and the occasional glitch where the door just doesn't open for a few seconds and you'll probably have a problem on your hands.

I have always believed that the poor positioning of the door in the Pay 'n' Sprays was just a way to add a drop of challenge to losing your wanted level, given that in the 3D era, you can lose it even if every single cop, SWAT, FBI. and ARMY Reservist sees you enter.

So I have always found it kind of cool that you have to memorize the exact door location.

In V, closed or open, it is irrelevant anyway, because all you can do is repair your vehicle. You can no longer lose the wanted level as going into the custom shops.

Pretty minor complaint, but it makes no sense that I can't play tennis as franklin.

After all this time I am only now realising this. Minor gripes like this tend to bug me for some reason .

Also where are all the hats in this game. I wanted to get in the spirit of Red dead Redemption but it seems there are no hats to be found. You'd think it would be a fit for Michael but oh well

That one's always puzzled me. I get why Franklin and Trevor wouldn't do Yoga, but Franklin not being able to play tennis when he can do everything else is again another of GTA V's bizarre design decisions that seemingly has never been addressed.

It's not really a game breaker, but like the forklifts in GTA IV not functioning or the camera lacking a save function (GTA IV) it just leaves me wondering "why?". These niggling things seem to pop up in every game.

Yeah the save function thing was a bummer as well. R* are generally the master of the finer details but they manage to leave some tiny kinks as well. Hopefully these kinks are smoothed out in the next iteration.

They (Rockstar Games) made a Grand Theft Auto game with more than one protagonist (awful idea) and then they don't allow us to do everything we want with them! What the f*ck!

Let's say that I like Franklin the most (I don't), sadly I have to change to Michael/Trevor to play tennis..... Or let's say that I like Michael the most, sadly I can't wear suit with a tie, because... I don't know why. I have to play as Franklin to use suit/tie combination.

Rockstar Games... if you want us to play more than one guy then at least allow us to do everything we want with only one of them, please.

I don't think so, it's possible to hide in LSC, and even better, just wait inside until the wanted level disappears and you don't need to buy anything

Yeah. You'd think that it would be some sh*t like with Franklin you can do gangster side missions. You can't. With Michael you can do a bunch of robbery side missions? Nope. With Trevor you can do drug side missions? Uhhh..na.

The f*ck is the point in having three characters with differing interests and criminal involvements when you can't even do anything? I can't even ride around the hood and do Drivebys with my homies because Lamar's bitch ass gets scared too easy.

This game is seriously making me consider the developers being on the autism scale.

Can you actually hide inside until your wanted level disappears? I never even thought to try that, but next time I boot up the game, probably a little later today, I will. I get the feeling that won't work, though, but if it does, cool!

You learn something new every day, I guess, lol I had NO idea that Franklin couldn't initiate a Tennis match. It is odd that with the awesome, fantastic, most excellent character switching feature in this game, that really adds so much to V, that you are limited. I would probably care a lot more if I actually EVER had any desire to play Tennis (or golf, or yoga or darts) that they are limited, but I definitely understand the complaint you are making. It is probably some misguided realism thing on Rockstar's part, trying to say that a ghetto kid like Franklin would have no business in a country club environment to start a tennis game.

It would be quite understandable if Franklin was a ghetto kid, but he gets rich in a matter of seconds after killing several guys. He gets a mansion in Vinewood Hills... Franklin who got it without any effort.

It would be better if Franklin bought the mansion after several heists.

It wouldn't be so bad if we could do these assassination after the main story line, but no... you have to do it or you won't be able to complete the game.

Cool.

Well, my point is that I have never been a fan of realism in videogames. I think that a game should "feel real" and not be realistic. This is something that like the PS2-Era 3D games accomplished really well.

The funny thing is that I hated IV for all the reasons I have mentioned many times, but it all came down to "realism" making the game feel unreasonably restrictive, limited, and like the "sandbox" was made out of cast iron. Now, this is NOT to start a IV vs V debate, because I know that I am not empirically right (or wrong) on this, and that some people LOVE realism.

The point is that when V first came out, I had it on day one, and after about 2 hours of playing it, I shoved it back in the box, rolled my eyes, and told a friend on the phone, "Sh*t, this game sucks every bit as bad as IV. I'm done!" I think I had given up on the game after only a few career missions and some side missions. I was bored one day, after my first Rotator cuff surgery, sitting on my couch, and a buddy of mine in a different forum BEGGED me to try V again. He kept telling me that almost everything I hated about IV had been changed or improved. Only because I was bored I did as he said, and sure enough, he was right and I was wrong.

The funny thing about it is (sorry about the story lol) that pretty much EVERYTHING in V that annoys me or makes me roll my eyes is some quality the game still shares with IV. Which, of course, makes sense, because the two share basically the same game engine. This is why I used to grudgingly agree with Osho sometimes about his commentary about BOTH IV and V.

tl;dr, the reason I hate IV is because it is waaaaaay too realistic for my tastes. The reason I love V is because most of that realism was dialed back and I find the game a lot more fun and free. But there are moments when I do find V annoying as hell.

There's a glitch which allows you to play tennis against Franklin, but it does suck that there is no way you can play as Franklin.

Well I did this in La Mesa LSC when I was just messing with the cops as Trevor, I quickly went to LSC when the cops are in "searching mode" and they open so I go in, just wait for the wanted level to disappear or change the vehicle colors

Let's say that I like Franklin the most (I don't), sadly I have to change to Michael/Trevor to play tennis..... Or let's say that I like Michael the most, sadly I can't wear suit with a tie

I beg to differ

Glad you approve.

While Rockstar still needs to dial back some of the realism for GTA VI, they really did go in the right direction with V. Also, I have learned to appreciate the compromises that Rockstar made to bring us V, which is one of the reason why the game is so beloved with fans and reviewers!

The fact is that it would have been unrealistic (no pun intended) of me to expect Rockstar to walk ALL the realism back from Snore to the glory days San Andreas, because IV still was very popular, too. They couldn't make people like me happy by taking all of Snore's realism out, AND they couldn't make the realism-junkies happy by making it as restrictive and overbearing as IV, so they compromised.

All things considered, they did an awesome job and I can at least, tolerate the Snore'esque realism still in V, since the game is so awesome in many other ways! :r*::r*::r*::r*::r*:

Not saying you're wrong, and this is a complaint thread. But I am curious. Do you really believe that, given the fact that this is the first GTA game with animals, and with all the peds and various animal species, that this game truly suffers from only a few dog breeds? I mean, doesn't a game, at some point, reach a moment where the devs simply have to stop adding sh*t into it?

Again, not saying you are wrong. But I am trying to wrap my head around an undertaking in this game where Rockstar programs in DOZENS of species of dogs and cats. At what point does it become a diminishing returns issue similar to that guy who thinks that every single building on the map should have a new, different, and accessible interior?

In fairness, though, this is a complaint thread. I like to mock the posters here by disparagingly referring to this as The Whinge & Bitch Thread, but that really is all in fun, and I think a thread where people could complain is actually a good thing as it allows the mods to close all the other duplicate threads that pop up complaining about a different issue ever time. I think this is actually a good thread, to be honest. I don't agree with a lot of what's posted, obviously, but the thread is an important one here.

There's lots of flaws this game suffers from, and dog breeds is one of them. I get that it takes time to make the models and animations for different breeds, but they should at least add the ones that are common in certain areas(Pit Bulls in the hood, and Hounds in the country). Also, interiors are hard to design(though they could reuse them for houses in certain neighborhoods).

Sorry to say, but this is why Rockstar can never satisfy the fans. In earlier games there were no dogs, but now when they are available (dogs are really cute, btw!) fans are still complaining for not including a particular breed from so many varieties of dogs that the game might be called as "Grand Dogs Auto", if Rockstar didn't want to disappoint the fans, and decided to have all of them.

As for the topic, the AI.

It doesn't have to be called that just because it would have a lot of dog breeds.

Yeah, I know this is a complaint thread, so I don't want to debate with someone's complaint, but this one truly baffles me. I don't get how having a whole veritable pixelated zoo of animals, but only having a few dog breeds is, as he calls is, "a serious problem."

Oddly enough, until I read ATP's post, the amount of dogs or cat breeds in this game never even crossed my mind. You're right, though. If nothing else, something like this is absolute proof that there is no way in hell Rockstar will never satisfy the fans. People have very interesting priorities, I guess.

Lack of dog breeds is a flaw? You should be happy that there even are any dogs at all. They're not even the focus of the game. There's far better things to spend development time and resources on than making many different breeds of animals.

I f'n hate looking for videos of GTA in youtube and seeing all that clickbait and childist crap of V at the side of my screen, with that ramps and neon bikes and toy tracks... It's sad and annoying at the same time.

@ JavierC, you make a very good point, but how is that GTA's and R*'s fault though?

Yeah, they added the content on the crazy neon bikes and childish tracks, but if that what the market wants (not saying all, but maybe a small few) then why not give it to them? Me personally, I try not to YouTube anything GTA related, as I can see it ruining it for me.

One of the most obvious flaws for me is the severe lack of NPC's in landmark places on the map. I.e. The Kortz Centre.

You'll go there and there are literally no NPC's what so ever. Same with the strip malls in Blaine County.

Which I find strange because when they released on PS4 one of the main selling points was the increased traffic. f*ck the traffic, what about NPC!? They're the ones that make the game world immersive.
