Go out and find friends to talk to if you're looking for a social life.. I played much more difficult games on my Sega master system without needing a microphone to reach the end. Also, not everybody have the mentality to use a microphone you moron

How the hell u know the op don't got friends smh. And I feel just like the op I run a crew on PS and one of the requirements is to have a mic. I don't have no damn time to steady checking my phone and getting shot because u are texting for help. I can tell u garbage. And FYI any real gamer can tell u games was way harder back in the day moron.

Highest rank in all halo games starting from halo 2, part of a gamebattle team on left 4 dead, much much more without a microphone. I think it's you that is garbage needing s microphone. I've also had countless 2v2's no mics vs mics to prove you don't need a microphone. They do help, but there are players out there that are good enough to not need a mic and can communicate with every other gamer without a mic. I suppose you think people that can't talk at all can't make great achievements? You might want to go watch the legends on Paralympics.

95% of the time I only use it when in party chat with friends, etc. However, if there isn't a little kid screaming bloody mary at the top of their lungs, and it's just some chill people, I'll strike up a convo. That's a big if though..

I always have mine, but it's set to "friends and crew" probably 90% of the time. During a mission I'll open it up, and just kick any noise pollution. If they sound like an idiot, they probably are.

Mics aren't always necessary, if you play with legit team mates you would barely need to speak up.

I guess I'm always lucky.

Hmmm, forumers who don't use a mic to communicate, yet are always posting in the forum...makes sense now.

Did you just say COD? The game that ranks you up even when losing games? Hahahaha oh dear. I'd love to see a COD player maintain high ranks in halo 2. I can't even get over the fact that you used COD's pathetic ranking system to reply LOL

Deconstructive criticism. Not needed nor cared about. Don't worry about my personal life...moron

Aside from that those are all really good points. I'm in agreement 100% about the kids, rap and other stupid comments that get blasted through on my end.

That's what mute is for though.

Because a sh*tty mic ruins everyones experience. A cheap mic will pickup noise from the headphones or the TV and make understanding anyone impossible. So unless your willing to shell out the cash for a good headset don't bother.

I usually never use a mic when I play with strangers on the internet. I don't want to hear what they have to say. I figured when I first got GTA 5 that I'd try to open up a little, maybe give gamers another chance. So, I turn the mic on when I first load up Online.

FIrst thing I hear is some older guy yelling at some kid and calling him a fag. Argument pursued. I turned the mic off.

Tried again the other night. Heard two stoners (had 420 in their names) talking about how to exploit the game and then I heard two other people talking over them. The second group was a guy probably in his 20s and a kid that had to be under 10. The adult was bragging about how he had $900,000,000 even though nobody had asked and was describing it as amazing because his level was under 20. The kid heard him and replied 'it must be nice being rich and being able to buy everything you want'. They then got together and screeched at each other through their mics that were too close to their mouths that all we could hear was mic clipping.

After that, I figured ... eh, one more try. I leave the mic on, go to another session. Guy is literally weezing into his microphone. Either he was a whale who'd figured out how to play video games or his microphone was in his f*cking stomach and he needed to move it further away from his face.

Other times when I have my mic plugged in but I'm not speaking so maybe I can hear people socializing, maybe I'm just hanging onto that glimmer of hope that there are some people who aren't f*cking retarded playing this game. Yet, to my dismay, all I hear are people actually lighting up bowls of weed and talking like this:

'dood i'm so fukken high did u get dat beast infernus? dat last mission is a good way to fukken exploit dude.'

So, no thanks. Maybe when this community has more than two brain cells to rub together, I'll want to hear it speak to me.

So, you come here to complain about what others have to say (and how you don't want to hear it) and we, in turn, are just supposed to listen to what you have to say?

Nice try hypocrite.

I think every game has a moment where you're like, "so this is what fun is like in this game" and you'll always remember that moment.
I had my very first "goddamn this is GTA IV all over again" (my favorite game that I've had countless amazing times with random people), was in a deathmatch with other dudes, most of them had mics. Some from Texas, some dude from Michigan (spelling?) and my character is a 40 year old shemale-looking cougar, dressed in old aunt clothes. I would kill people and say, "COUGAR POWER ACTIVATED!" and they would then refer to me in the games to follow as "The Cougar". They'd kill me and they would say, "got the cougar". It felt really nice to be a part of a random group of people (who knew each other apart from the Michigan dude) and just have a blast.

Those times are really rare in GTA V due to it being so huge. It's Call of Duty huge where everyone has this game. They're either playing GTA V or the Xbox One/PS4. Seeing I'm talking about GTA IV/GTA V online, I really, REALLY hate you can't form a sort of posse like Red Dead Redemption that follows you to every game. It's fine in GTA IV as you got in the game and invited your Xbox LIVE Party and they'd join quickly. The loading in GTA V make this impossible as the game is already launched by the time your friend's loading starts. So I usually play with randoms when I'm alone with no one to talk to.

Everyone mouthing off randoms just haven't experienced the moment I'm talking about, but then again if you don't mic up, you'll never experience it.

Use it in XBL Party chat 99% of the time, Listening to someones awful taste in music or 10 year old gansters gets old very fast
