Paying insurance for vehicle destroyed by other player?

Hey guys,

 

I usually never really post anything on these forums, but this is just getting ridiculous so i wanted to share this. So i hadn't been on GTA V Online for quite a while. The last time i was on was during the valentine's day massacre DLC. So i don't know if they changed a lot of things during that time, but here is what happened to me today. First of all when i came back on today all my money was gone. And i had like 100.000+ dollars in the bank last time i left. I'm guessing the new patch has something to do with that. Second, i wanted to see some of the new stuff that came with the latest patch 1.12. Clothes, tattoo's, car mods etc. So i went into passive mode and took my Albany Roosevelt out for a drive. The reason why i went into passive mode was because i didn't want to be bothered at that time. Anyway as usual some guy comes up to my car and starts shooting at me. Passive mode doesn't work when you're in a car so i got out of my car so he wouldn't be able to kill me. He then starts shooting my car and i figured go ahead shoot it. He has to pay the insurance bill in the end and not me. So he destroyed my car and get this. I call insurance and he only has to pay a 1000 for the insurance, and i have the pay the remaining 8000! What the hell Rockstar?! First of all, 8000 dollars is lot for me now since i lost all my money for no apparent reason. And now these annoying trigger happy jerks get to destroy my car and i have to pay for it??? I remember when i didn't have to pay when my vehicle was destroyed by other players. I just wanted to share this, anybody else notice this?

I have reported this issue earlier, but was suggested that the other player would only have a small amount of cash available, thus only paying a small bit of the insurance premium. But seeing that more and more forum users are experiencing this specifically after patch 1.12, I tend to think it may be a new ".feature"

Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry i must have missed this issue and your topic in the forum section. But if this really is a new feature, I really don't see the point of passive mode anymore. I mean you're not even safe in a car in the first place, and when you're on food they can still run you over. And now they're making us pay large amounts of cash for morons destroying our vehicles for no reason at all. So basically they want us to engage combat with every player running around, because that's what it comes down to. Because I can't get a moment of peace when i'm driving around.

It's true you can put all of your money onto a second character and avoid paying insurance, but it comes at a price of losing your mechanic and water/lights at your apartment if you don't have enough cash to pay the bills. I'm not sure how common of a practice this is either, I have only run into it once myself and doing this has always been possible.

 

I don't know what happened to your money though, I thought the new patch was only targeting levels that were glitched.

Thanks for your reply. As to your first suggestion, i guess i could do that. I mean i don't mind losing all my privileges to my apartment. But on the other hand it's not like the bills to pay for the apartment are expensive so that won't be a problem.

 

As for my money problem. I know they were suppose to target levels that were glitched. For the record, i'm only level 75 and i'm using a console (PS3). I've never cheated before, and it's not like i had an insane amount of cash the last time i played. Maybe a little over 100.000 give or take. Earning the money back is not an issue, but it's the principle that matters. I did however receive an insane amount of cash a long time ago, back when the hackers were giving out cash to everybody. I didn't even get a chance to reject it, it was just there basically. And it was way too much to even get rid of it. But that wasn't my fault, and I remember they already fixed that durinjg the valentine's day patch. Because my cash was back to 10.000 or something after the patch. I earned my my cash fair and square after that and bought the Albany Roosevelt. But after the latest patch 1.12 all my money was gone when I came back on today.

Yeah, R* should add a feature where they are in debt so their money would say $-8000 and if they do a job which pays out $8000 their money would be $0 and not $8000.

btw how did you get that thing under your comment which is your GTA Stats, (i'm a bit of a noob so ) i'm new here btw.
