Maisonette Radio

Airing live from the neon-lit dancefloor at Maisonette 9, Algonquin. DJ Paul is here to turn your claustrophobic nightshift, cleaning the floor at the office, into the ultimate nightlife experience you can have in Liberty City where you can rip it all out in-between the cubbicles, just without the padded LED dancefloor, all the strobe lights and that silly mirror ball that hasn't been replaced for the last 35 years. Just watch out for the camera feed. If the boss sees it, you'll have to pack your bags goodbye but don't worry, you do know where the next night job will be at.

Genres: House, Dance Music, EDM, Deep House, Piano House, French House, Progressive House, Electro House

Type: Two continuous Mixes of 6 songs undercut by the DJ (With commentaries from the DJ in-between 2-3 songs and between the first and second mix) with a commercial break once the second mix end.

Location: Maisonette 9Algonquin, Liberty City

Era: 2017

Host: Paul Martin A.K.A. DJ Paul (with special appearances from Andre the AcceleratorNathan Vincent Duvall from Disciples, Sonny Fodera, Francesco "Phra" Barbaglia from Crookers, A-TrakJust KiddinMarc Kinchen A.K.A. MK & Boy Sanchez)

Fix the title for the song "Bird of Prey" by Karma Kid of which I wrote the word "Bird" at the plural.

Face The Music

...three, four, five months later....here's a combo package. I've got a little concept floating in my head of a GTA game set in an expy of Memphis named "Thebes". (Both Memphis and Thebes were ancient Egyptian cities.) Got five stations more or less finished, and have more planned (a country station is one of them). Sadly made them before seeing the rules so I did break a few of them, although I honestly tried as hard as possible not to do repeat songs, and the ones that are repeated are ones that got removed from their games.

95.2 Funkopolis FM

Funkin' Awesome!

103.2 Thebes Rock Radio

Thebes' Only* Rock Station *we don't talk about thunderhead

75.2 Lannahech Lowdown (Named after the Mississippi River expy that appeared in RDR2)

Thebes' Rap Residence

Thunderhead 109.2

The Hardest Rock In The Nation!

82.7 Moonwalk Mix (NOTE - probably will be renamed once I think of a better name)

All Pop. All The Time.

93.5 Lonesome Road

Because sometimes rock won't cut it.

NOTES

Moonwalk Mix would be the second largest station in GTA History - barely behind Music Locker Radio.

Returning songs (original) - Edge of Seventeen, Evil Woman, Billie Jean, Express Yourself. Edge of Seventeen was just because Rockstar flat out confirmed they still have it licensed after using it as a ringtone in Cayo Perico, while Evil Woman, Billie Jean and Express Yourself were simply because I couldn't find any covers of them.

Returning songs (covers) - Killing In The Name, Hellraiser, Wanna Be Startin' Somethin', How I Could Just Kill A Man

A whole lot of GTA 4 and 5 cut songs were included in these. In particular, Lannahech Lowdown is almost entirely cut GTA 5 West Coast Classics and Radio Los Santos songs.

Longest song in GTA history would be in Funkopolis - Billy the Mountain by Frank Zappa at THIRTY GODDAMN MINUTES.

Whys that bro?

Hey Kobeni, what songs should I replace with this playlist.

You've taken a lot of it from a few of my previous posts on this thread. One or two's fine but it seems like you've taken almost 50-60% of the catalogue. Granted it's not a big deal and the songs aren't mine but still that's not cool. Be more original.

As for the second part, just figure it out man.

Not really my own Radio Station, rather a different version of Radio X and what it would be like in 1997! 1997 was an interesting year for rock, Grunge in my eyes had finally bit the dust with the breakup of Soundgarden with Post Grunge, Pop rock, Industrial and Ska being the main sounds of rock at the time but truthfully there was no defining sound in 1997, it was all over the place and it's reflected with my playlist for Radio X for 97 and well... Alternative wasn't the Alternative anymore as it had now been absored into the mainstream and the media were selling Electronica as the Alternative to Alternative.. which didn't end up fully working out and the station I'll make for that is called The Beat FM, Sage is still the host

Lips FM

"Give Lips a smooch on your daily drive to work today, the best top 40 station in Gusenberg!"

Genre: Pop

Styles: Dance-pop, R&B/Swing, Soul, Bubblegum Pop, Pop Rock, Europop, Soft Rock, Jangle Pop, UK Garage, Teen Pop, Deep House, Filter House, Acoustic Pop, Electropop, Trip Hop, Urban Contemporary, Progressive House, Vocal Trance, Pop Punk, Eurodance, Shibuya-kei

"I love commercial radio, there’s nothing better than shoving sterile earworms down everyone's collective throats since, like, forever! The next track is by Innosense, This Is It!"

Felicia

Returning from the 3D era, Lips FM takes the role of a commercial pop station in Gusenberg, playing mainly pop hits from the era as well as tracks by lesser-known groups and artists from the turn of the millennium. It is a very popular station especially among the city center and suburban demographic, with many of the songs featured inside several clothing stores in-game. Notable artists include Sixpence None The Richer, The Cardigans, Natalie Imbruglia, Incubus, New Radicals, Ciara and Britney Spears (as part of Innosense).

The station is hosted by Felicity Lynn, a 23-year old college dropout who got the radio job through rather nebulous methods. Beneath the bubbly on-air persona lies a bitter, sardonic personality that is endlessly cynical of the cutthroat state of the music industry. It is based on WKSC-FM, better known as Kiss FM, a hits station in Chicago that is still broadcasting today.

“This one goes out to all the high rollers and lady killers over at The Sacred Lion in the city in their big, flashy sports cars. 60 Miles An Hour by New Order. Just… don’t go breaking any speed limits, will ya?”

Gregs

A Gusenberg staple broadcasting directly from The Circuit commercial district, true to its name. The current incarnation of The Circuit features a mostly-Britpop centric playlist, featuring bands such as Oasis, Blur and Stereophonics, along with other alternative rock groups such as Garbage, Hole and The Dandy Warhols.

It is hosted by Gregory “Gregs” Rollands, a former college radio host now making it big in the commercial radio scene, and a staunch supporter of the Gusenberg Kodiaks baseball team. The station is based on the now-defunct Chicago-based radio station WLUP, also known as The Loop 97.9, which formerly played rock, pop and adult contemporary.

“Check out Chino’s vocals on this one! My Own Summer by the Deftones, off their ‘97 album, exclusively on Pandemic FM, the station that whips the asses of all the other stations!”

Casper

Hosted directly from the Pandemic Club in Riviera, Pandemic FM plays mainly nu-metal and metalcore tracks from the late-90s and early-2000s, though it also features a fair amount of progressive metal, post-hardcore and industrial metal. The station features a distinctive early-2000s Metal/American Goth aesthetic, and its tracks consist of both obscure and famous bands at their prime, with bands such as Killswitch Engage, Korn, Saliva and Deftones as well as female-fronted bands such as Genitorturers, Kittie and Kidneythieves.

It is hosted by Casper Vega, one of the resident DJs at the Pandemic Club and a self-professed metalhead and goth who hates pop and soft rock with a passion, though he admits to liking the music on Heat FM in a track break.

Genesis FM

“Straight from the birthplace of all house music, featuring the stripped-down sounds of Gusenberger nightlife permeating through your car stereo.”

Genre: House

Styles: Chicago House, Deep House, Garage House, UK Garage, Funky House, Diva House, Acid House, Tech House

“Man, I love this joint! Y’all remember Club Spiro in The Circuit? They played this mother thrice back in the 80s! Acid Tracks by Phuture, only on Genesis!”

Debbie

At the birthplace of house music, Genesis FM caters directly to the purist crowd in Gusenberg interested in rhythmic and mellow 4x4 grooves that want something less harsh than either Adrenaline FM or the pirate stations. While the station does feature a number of Chicago house artists, Genesis FM mainly plays classic garage house and deep house records from New Jersey and New York City, which acts as a precursor to other genres such as UK Garage, which Osmosis FM plays. With a wide variety of artists from Chicagoans such as Phuture, Theo Parrish and Robert Owens to more well-known acts such as Masters At Work, Kerri Chandler and Romanthony, the station is a house lover’s dream.

The station is hosted by Debbie Robinson, an art gallery curator and record collector based in The Circuit, who occasionally DJs at clubs across Gusenberg. The station is similar to SF-UR in that there is no mixing between the tracks, which are played close to its entirety. It is later revealed that Debbie has originally applied for the station as a gospel station to bypass state radio laws, and now receives plenty of hate mail from soccer moms in the Lisorian suburbs, for playing ‘blasphemous’ music and is blamed for hooking kids up on ‘happy pills’.

Like Adrenaline FM and Heat FM, songs from the station are played by opening acts before and after a headlining DJ takes the stage at clubs and raves.

A chillout station for Gusenberg’s many clubbers and ravers, coming down from drugs, alcohol and what not, E2S FM, short form for the Electronic Sound Syndicate, is a station and music collective dedicated to more ambient and cerebral electronic music, with a stronger emphasis on IDM. Legato FM

“Sanguine piano pieces in daylight and bombastic opera classics by nightfall, for when you had enough of all that doosh doosh crap. Tune in right here on Gusenberg’s premier classical station.”

Genre: Classical

Styles:

Daytime

Classical Piano

Nighttime

Opera, Classical

A classical station with a unique format broadcasting somewhere in the Starstruck Stretch. The station features a day-and-night format unlike most stations, featuring piano pieces during daytime (6am-7pm) and opera and classical pieces during nighttime (7pm-6am). It also features season-exclusive tracks from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, with each concerto exclusive to its respective season over the course of the game. A number of tracks from Double Clef FM in the 3D Era return here in the night playlist.

The station is hosted by Oliver Stobka, a classical music aficionado and a rejected violinist from the Gusenberg Strings Orchestra. He outright expresses disdain for the overabundance of loud dance music in the city and wishes all the clubs and raves would pipe down. The station is based on WFMT, a classical station in Chicago.

Audiobonn FM

“Operating independently since 1932, Audiobonn stands firm in the age of heated political debates and gossip news, reliving the golden age of radio with a special selection of classic and contemporary radio dramas.”

Genre: True Crime, Radio Drama, Western, Black Comedy

“The Killing of Sheriff Rumpert Banks”

The first show ever broadcast on Audiobonn, with syndication beginning in 1932. Set in rural Lisoris in 1888, a sheriff is shot and killed in the town of Vickerbach, while investigating a house fire which killed a family of 5, a family of Libertonians that moved in since the end of the Civil War.

Sheriff Manfred Lowe heads down to the crime scene to investigate the death of his former colleague, and discovers a strange amulet placed inside Banks’s shirt pocket. Breaking the amulet reveals a folded map pointing towards an old manor located in the nearby town of Lancaster. Lowe soon discovers an insidious scheme dating back 20 years as he begins piecing together and forming links between all the murders.

“Prohibition Playbook”

Set in Gusenberg in 1931, Prohibition Playbook is a 8-part Rashomon-style crime drama which features stories told from the perspectives of both organized crime and law enforcement.

Starring Gusenberg PD Homicide Detective John Lynch and leader of the fictional Glendale Outfit, Richie Badalamenti, the story begins during the eve of the abolition of Prohibition and ends sometime before the national announcement of the Great Plains Shelterbelt, covering the inner politics of the police department, the feds and gang life.

“The Barkeep & The Gunslinger”

Set in 1898 somewhere in the American Southeast, a black bartender and the son of freed slaves named Gray moonlights the notorious Baker’s Saloon in the town of Arden, Louisiana. Abused and taken advantage of by the local Billings Gang, he finds himself constantly harassed and extorted by thugs.

One day a stranger takes notice of this harassment, and puts on a show to every onlooker in the saloon, non-lethally. Only referring to himself by the name Duke, they go out of town to the nearby bayou and talk about past lives while practicing some shooting. Duke teaches Gray a few skills he picked up over the course of his mysterious career, building up the man’s marksmanship and confidence, though Gray soon realizes that Duke may have a ball to play back in Arden.

“The Calm Before the Storm”

A 7-part crime noir epic set in Gusenberg circa 1948, starring private investigator Sam Kovacs, a paranoid, pill-popping former flamethrower and WW2 Okinawa vet who investigates the mass murder of an entire entourage of industry leaders at the Mills Hotel.

The sole survivor of the massacre, an escort named Cassie Derekson, agrees to rendezvous with Kovacs at the nearby Hunts Street Diner to give him her alibi, though Sam begins to suspect something from her involvement in the tragedy.

“Past The River with Vitruvian”

(Added after Act 3.)

Sponsored by the newly-founded record and lifestyle label Vitruvian Entertainment, the show revolves around interviews hosted by exiled Liberty City producer DJ Staxx and southside radio personality Ry Ranks, with various predominantly African-American and Hispanic guests ranging from local aldermen and celebrities, to up-and-coming singers and rappers.

Notable characters, such as mayoral candidate Randall Biggs, GPD police chief Desmond Nowak, outsider musician Earl Mopes, Vanguards lieutenant Spyder, girlfriend and R&B singer Tysha Verona and The Heat DJ Cherry, are interviewed on the show, often in relation to concurrent story events.

“Sports in Stereo”

Broadcast live from Grabowski Stadium in the east end of The Circuit, Sports In Stereo provides Gusenbergers with the latest advances in baseball, football and basketball. Hosted by sports fanatic Marcus “Big Marc” Hilgrove, shows often involve him heckling teams from other cities such as the Carcer City Unicorns, the Liberty City Swingers and the Los Santos Panic, as well as scandals involving notable sportsmen and athletes in the Midwest. Live game shows are also broadcast to the player, typically during missions and scripted seasonal events, in a somewhat similar style to the one featured in Mafia: Definitive Edition.

With sports-betting being one of the side activities in GTA: Gusenberg, the show is among the several ways in which the outcome of a game can be announced to the protagonists.

“Gusenberg Mob History for Kids!”

An overly-sanitized look into the history of organized crime in Gusenberg, from the early 1910s up until the mid-1970s, with a stronger focus on the 30s-60s period, with the gang war in the 80s skimmed over, tailored for a younger demographic. Euphemisms are used in various creative ways to describe mass slayings and acts of bribery, debauchery and torture which have happened throughout the history of Gusenberg’s underworld, usually at the expense of the fallen.

Starring two ‘mobsters’, Vinnie Peanuts and Tony The Tool, who speak with stereotypically over-the-top 30s Gusenberger accents, the company that runs the show also runs a tour business in the city that the player can join the tour bus of, focusing on mob landmarks across Gusenberg while staying mostly in-character.

“Party Time!”

A podcast describing the grimey underground music and club drugs scene in Gusenberg, with a particular focus on nightclubs and illegal raves that take place across the city.

Hosted by SPANK enthusiast and headbanger Atticus Palmdale and his equally fidgety significant other and chav from Sheffield, Boudica "Bebe" Rankine, they go about the city, terrorizing local city residents with their non-sequiturs and random acts of drug-induced psychosis, whilst exploring most of what nightlife in the city has to offer, more specifically clubs and raves which the protagonists can potentially enter and attend in free roam.

“DEFCON 0: A Nation Under Attack”

Founded not long after the attacks, DEFCON 0 covers the rants of Thyssen County survivalist and paranoid schizophrenic Cody Palls, who is said to have traveled on chartered flights between Gusenberg to Liberty City and Alderney City ‘at least 5 times a month with a disassembled AR-15 in a kiddie roller bag’ to scope out for terrorists, both on and off the plane, all in the name of Uncle Sam.

Believing an apocalyptic religious war to be nigh, Cody offers several of his own political and philosophical insights, hoping for the listener to adopt them in the event of a full-scale invasion by outsiders or an implosive insurrection from within the US, though his references to the Bible are questionable at best. Several equally disturbed individuals phone in to Palls, including one possible federal agent due to his comments about the president.

“Friendly Fire”

Guns, guns and more guns, this is the second amendment in all its lead-filled glory as 67-year old schoolteacher Earle Cassidy tests the newest weapons on the market at the gun range with his son and daughter, Rich and Virginia. Descriptions of each gun, which are available in-game, are surprisingly detailed, with features such as cartridge size and action described in-depth in a relatively professional manner.

“The Survivalists’ Cookbook”

Hosted by former Vietnam Green Beret and survivalist DeAngelo Motley, as well as his former MACV/SOG handler Gerald Garcia. True to its name, the show goes in-depth into methods of survival in the wilderness of Ikona, with Motley and Garcia constantly trading potshots at one another, though much like the fishing show in VCS, the reminiscing of the good old days in ‘Nam can only go so far without turning into a bloodbath.

“Over By There with Local 86”

Hosted by dockworkers and union members Sal Batieri and Paulie Donnerswicz, the show offers insights into the working lives of blue-collar laborers in town while also providing a hefty dose of indecent working-class humor. Discussions lampooning the union, local city government, the police, the Outfit and the Exchange all exist here, simultaneously coexisting with banter about other issues faced by blue-collar workers such as their Social Security woes, alimony and welfare.

Like Osmosis FM, Future Trip FM takes major influences of several UK-based pirate radio stations during the 90s, such as Kool FM, Weekend Rush FM and Cyndicut FM.

As implied by the name, the station is hosted by the Future Trip Crew, a multinational crew composed of Santosian DJ Rudeboy, guest Brixtoner DJ Bucky, native Gusenberger MC Terminus and guest Croydoner MC Brown Bread. With two mixes, DJ Rudeboy’s mix features a more liquid funk style popularized by DJs such as Fabio mixed with hardcore ragga jungle and non-British artists whereas DJ Bucky’s mix places a heavier emphasis on techstep and vocal drum n’ bass.

“Right about 160 beats per minute! Not too fast, not too slow! Just enough for the 303 to come plowing through!”

Mandible

“It’s gonna peak up after this one, goodbye Carcer City, hello Europe.”

Jason the Jester

Tektonik FM plays mainly acid and techno music from the Detroit and British scenes, featuring a more minimal and stripped-back sound compared to other electronic stations such as City After Dark and Osmosis FM, with sets more reminiscent of DJs such as Carl Cox or Frank De Wulf. Notable artists include Detroiters such as Jeff Mills, Underground Resistance, Dopplereffekt and Kenny Larkin and Europeans such as Aphex Twin, Regis and David Clarke.

There are two mixes featured in story mode, with one set by Mandible and the other by Jason the Jester. Mandible has been spinning acid tracks at fast tempos since the early-90s, which is reflective in his mix for the station, featuring mainly 90s tracks with squelchy 303 basslines and sparse percussion. Jason the Jester, a newcomer to the techno scene, plays a mellower, more recent tech house-inspired set with a number of tracks from the 2000s.

A third member of the Tektonik crew, Black Meridian, only plays live raves, where he spins a mixture of ghetto house, ghettotech, juke, Baltimore Club, UK Garage and jungle.

“I’m f*ckin’ ‘avin’ it, this one's a percy! Get your party whistles and horns out, it’s gonna go off after this!”

DJ Pereira

A hard dance pirate station that pushes extremely fast music for Gusenberg’s hardcore ravers. The station is noticeably faster than all the other pirates, playing a mixture of hard house, hard trance and donk music mainly from the UK. Notable artists in the mix include Nick Sentience, the Brain Bashers, F1 and BK.

The station is hosted by DJ Pereira, the founder of the X-Stasie label and a Brummie expat operating out of a dilapidated gas station somewhere in Gusenberg, with “mountains of Es and pings stacked towards heaven” in his makeshift studio. True to the station, his DJing style is considerably more frenetic and unpredictable compared to the other pirates.

“1, 2, step, step. 2, step radio ravin’!  From Croydon to Gusenberg, we play only the dubplate exclusive! Ladies with the big batty, shake what ya mama gave ya, let's go!”

MC Fresh S

A returning station from GTA 2, Osmosis FM now takes the form of an underground UK Garage/2-Step pirate radio station, playing music from the genre mostly from the 1997-2001 period during the pirate radio heyday in the UK, similar to Future Trip. The station features a number of notable garage artists and their respective aliases, such as Jeremy Sylvester, MJ Cole, Steve Gurley, Todd Edwards and Mike Millrain, as well as several white label records, dubplates and remixes from the era.

Like Future Trip, the station is hosted by a group from Croydon, London known as the Osmosis Crew, composed of DJ Top Shotta, DJ Selena Da Selekta and MC Fresh S, who MCs in all mixes. DJ Top Shotta’s mix has a noticeably darker and more eclectic feel partially due to his past gigs as a hardcore & jungle DJ prior to Osmosis, featuring breakier dark garage tracks from 1998-onwards as well as classic garage house records, whereas DJ Selena comes from a house & garage background, and thus her mix is considerably more soulful and happier-sounding, with many of the tracks produced in 1998, reminiscent of pirate radio mixes of the era found in UK stations such as Upfront FM, Freek FM and Ice FM.

“Life is temporary, trance is forever! Keep it up people!”

DJ Tanya

A trance station in Gusenberg that plays mainly vocal, uplifting and progressive trance from the late-90s to early-mid 2000s, marking the return of these styles to the series since Rise FM in GTA 3. Many notable artists from the era are featured on the station, such as Paul Oakenfold, Tiesto, Gabriel & Dresden, OceanLab, Lange and Svenson & Gielen.

The station is hosted by DJ Tanya, founder of City After Dark, an events organizer and dance record label that signs a small community of local Gusenberger trance and progressive house artists, as well as a veteran trance and techno DJ who has been spinning records at warehouse raves since the goa and psytrance days of the early-to-mid 90s. Compared to the other pirates, Tanya is considerably more chipper in her delivery during voiceovers.

Prior to its formal introduction in Act 3, the upcoming premiere of the station was initially promoted at special rave parties by DJ Tanya herself, featuring an early trance mix that is listed in the “Exclusive Mixes” section below.

Radio Hades

A mysterious lo-fi pirate radio station that has somehow hijacked a major (yet previously unused) FM signal wave. With a mysterious raspy-voiced DJ who only calls herself Innana, Radio Hades broadcasts a plethora of extreme metal music from the 1980's, presumably pilfered from Inanna's own collection. Nobody has been able to properly trace where the signal is coming from just yet though....

Here's my vision for V-Rock in GTA VI if V-Rock would be brought back. It'd mostly play 90s, 2000s and 2010s rock and metal with some 80s rock sprinkled in.
