Create your own radio station for GTA

Recommended Posts

Nefarious Money Man

Sorry for not contributing, but this gave me a thought. Had the remaster contained a user created radio station, couldn't people just recreate the stations in their entirety (minus the drivel from the DJs) and get around all the copyright stuff?

Here's my concept for an alternate Flashback 95.6 song rotation. Its set during the same time period in 2001 as the events of Grand Theft Auto III, so you could look at this set of songs as the station's second playlist or as songs that could be plugged into the existing song rotation that exists in GTA III. I did my best to choose songs that fit the sound and style of the original station. Each song was also made specifically for a movie soundtrack from the mid 80s (Some also from Scarface) to further fit the station's mold.

I have no idea if a concept similar to mine has been done in this thread before. 78 pages is a lot to wade through in one sitting.

Here it is. I know it had a pop station but I'll do it anyway...

Flash FM

This is the station for that one guy in the football team who sings the same pop song while showering every since it came out (like 5 years or so ago?) so every time is other teammate enters the shower, just as a reminder, they'll have to endure 5 minutes of his poor singing abilities and the same obnoxious falsettos and adlibs just to prove that his mouth is also the instruments. Hey Bill, if you love repeating the same songs to your teammates in the guys' shower room after every games whilst having such a sliver of consideration for the human endurance, you've tuned in at the right station! This is Flash FM, playing on repeat with zero commercial breaks for 35 years straight (you know we're just foolin with y'all)!

Genre: Pop, Dance-pop, Indie Pop, Mainstream Pop, Pop Rock, Synthpop, Europop, Sophisti-Pop, Pop Rap, Trap, House, Contemporary R&B, Pop Soul, Nu-Disco, Adult Contemporary, every genres you can think of that had the word "pop"

Replaced the second instance of Livin Joy's Don't Stop Movin' (which I didn't noticed I already had put on the list) by Janet Jackson's Escapade.

Why does it have so many early mid 2010s songs

The list is not really final so I might cut and replace some songs but maybe it's my personal attachment or nostalgia for that era in popular music. There was a lot of bad stuff or stuff we rather want to forget but honestly, the stuff that I like during that era, I really enjoyed and grew on really fond off as the years went by and hey, GTA V's Non-Stop Pop had a lot of songs from the mid-to-late 2000's and yet it was a game set in 2013 so it can work.

I already replied to a topic like this, under the assumption that GTA VI will be in Vice City.

So, instead of porting all of my list over to this forum, I'll instead post a shorter, more condensed version, since that was quite long. This will be quite long though, since I'm basically just repeating some of the same points. I think you got wayyy too many rock radio stations. Also Electro as a standalone genre is a bit of a misnomer, should be electronica if anything.

If this game were to be set in the current, I doubt that Maurice Chavez would be alive at this point. Maybe his child (or one of his children) could replace him.

I like rock, it's my favourite genre, but I agree with you there. 2-3 radio stations per genre would be ideal, with different sub-genres.

Yeah I'll probably merge Underground Garage into Venom Eye. I wouldn't really count Rusted Records and Heartfelt as Rock Stations, since they're music from the 50s and softer more emotional music respectively, they don't really specialise in Rock itself so the Rock is more just like an additioanl genre to them.

But yeah I'll try to narrow down the Rock a bit more, keeping the Rusted and Heartfelt appearances as just genres on top of non-rock specific stations.

Also, I'll try to narrow down the Electronic music a bit more so it's more specific. Thanks for the criticism

I think it's possible he'd still be alive. He'd probably be about 30-ish during Vice City, so that would make him in his late 60s and early 70s, so if that's the case, then he'd be in his formative years but it could work as a joke similar to Lazlow where he's washed out and in his final years.

He would be too old!😂

No offence, by the way.

None taken, it's cool lol. I think his age could be made into a joke, like how many celebrities stick on for too long, and go way past their prime, Maurice is a league out of his field and yet he's still trying to clutch on for his last ounce at success.

I did - a very long time ago now. We even have the same idea for the final mission.

Why don't you jump over to The Creators Lounge and see about turning your idea into a concept?

We can help you with graphics or anything else you might need. You might be able to do all of that stuff yourself... in which case, go ahead and post a topic!

I'd love to see a dedicated Vercetti prologue. And the soundtrack would surely be fantastic.

Here's a new Radio station concept I got! It's for a second concept I'll eventually work on, It'll be set in 2006 and will take place in Carcer City and the surrounding area around it. It's basically the Radio X for Carcer City and acts as the Modern Rock Station for the time at least

Another idea of mine for a radio station for the 3D universe instance of Liberty City, set in 2004. This time, it's Head Radio that has lost its pop rock/pop/dance style featured in GTA III, but rather plays alternative metal and nu metal.

HeadRadio-GTAIII-HDlogo.png

Head Radio

"The home for the angsty, the bad, and the ugly. The one and only - Head Radio."

Location: Head Radio HQ, Harwood, Portland , Liberty City, Liberty.

Genre: Alternative metal, industrial metal, industrial rock, nu metal, post-grunge, post-hardcore. All the licensed songs come from Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 (2000), while the station features some in-house music in the mix.

Host: Hannah Love - a self-proclaimed "The Lady of Darkness" and "Goth Mistress". However, in fact, she's just an embidoment of all the mallgoth stereotypes from the late 1990's and the 2000's who tries to act as "dark" and "edgy" she thinks she can go. While on air, Hannah tells all the posers to change the station to Lips 106, as Head Radio is meant to be "the station for the lonely and misunderstood souls", one of the callers says they saw Hannah, the other day, all happy, hanging out with her friends at the mall drinking FunCola and cracking jokes. In another call, a man named Sammy (who mentions to suffer from schizophrenia), debunks Hannah faking having voices in her head. Whether she's related to Donald Love or not is unknown. The DJ herself states that she'd love to change her last name from "Love" to "Hate", because that what she feels "all the time".

Godhead - The Reckoning (2001)

Unspoken Communication Lines - Rather Than... [a general parody of Marilyn Manson's style]

P.O.D. - Lie Down (1999)

Tony Iommi feat. David Grohl - Goodbye Lament (2000)

Concept Xtrema - Mystical Disappearance [based on Linkin Park's "Nobody's Listening" (2003)]

Rob Zombie - Dragula (1998)

Nickelback - Old Enough (1999)

Pastpresentfuture - Zoning Out (mid-90's, as stated by the DJ) [a mix between "Adrenaline"-era Deftones and "You'd Prefer an Astronaut"-era Hum]

U.P.O. - Feel Alive (2000)

Nightmoon - Touching Your Sorrow [general parody of the "Fallen"-era Evanescence]

Shinebreaker - Angst of Myself [generic angsty nu metal song from the early 2000's]

At the Drive-In - Arcarsenal (2000)

Project 86 - PS (2000)

Queens of the Stone Age - Feel Good Hit of the Summer (2000)

Constant - Habits [general parody of the "Break the Cycle"-era Staind]

Awesome playlist. I think songs from Queen of the Damned or Ginger Snaps are also nice additions to the station.

Following up 2004 instances of Game Radio, Head Radio and Rise FM...

Lips 106

"The world evolves, so does Lips. Now, featuring 15 songs played all day, all night. Lips. 106."

Location: KBDDF Building, Newport, Staunton Island, Liberty City, Liberty.

Genre: Ambient pop, art pop, Britpop, contemporary R&B, downtempo, electroclash, futurepop, house, indie pop, indie rock, pop soul, trip-hop. A fully licensed playlist of lesser known indie acts pretending to be mainstream ones in the world of the 3D era LC.

Hosts: Andee and Susan Paulie. Susan is an African-American young adult and a brand new intern that's treated badly by Andee. Even though Andee's voice sounds all positive and happy, tasks she gives to Susan sound more like working as a personal servant rather than a job at a radio station. The tasks include but aren't limited to: going to Tarbrush Café to get Andee the brand new, $25 dollars worth "Mind Blower" coffee, cleaning Andee's fluids up from the floor, or making Andee's nails. The relationship between the two is similar to the one of DJ Bomba Tomba and Prodo of KGBH, although doesn't involve physical acts of brutality and alcoholism. As a consequence of Susan being treated badly, she is only heard on the radio twice. The first time she only says "Here is your coffee, Madam." ("Madam" is barely heard, as it's attempted to be drown out by a song). The second time Susan is heard on air, she takes advantage of Andee going out for a "short date" to complain about her internship. She states it's a badly paid job that feels like being held hostage, some of the staff is actually racist as well as creepy towards her. Susan is also the one responsible for playing R&B songs, while Andee is absent. Andee appears to be very narcissistic towards everyone around her, especially her "sidekick".
