It'll be way too much for the console to handle if you ask me. A map expansion that large is too much.

They couldn't even put gym in the game because of console limitations, but what if they make Los Santos de spawn and Liberty City to appear like they did with North Yankton

I'd like to point out a little diddy called DC Universe Online. In it, you had two completely different cities to traverse, both Gotham and Metropolis and you could access either city by transporting to either Watchtower or the Hall Of Doom, which in themselves were pretty big, and all these instances held way more than just 16 player sessions, and all this was on PS3 hardware.

 

So for those of you who're saying it can't be done on last gen, you're wrong.

The ground work is practically there for Liberty city, all they need to do is make a marker at los santos airport to book a ticket to fly to liberty city. It would not be hard to do, it is possible but it is up to R*, just like San andreas stories it was possible but they decided not to do it.

Couldn't have said it better. Exactly what I was thinking. Naysayers are just dumping out their inherent bias towards LC compared to different cities, to which I say again that if R* is going to introduce a new city, it's going to be in a new GTA game. Quite frankly, the GTAO style would breath new life into Liberty, especially with things like content creators, heists and so on.

Guys... Liberty City would have to be drastically remade to make it modern. It'd be kind of stupid to have a 2008 version of the city.

 

In case you didn't know, there's a new World Trade Center being constructed in downtown Manhattan, so that's something to consider if you want LC in GTAO. The events of GTA 4 happened 5-6 years ago, so there would need to be countless changes made to LC to make it like modern New York.

Stating something as a fact doesn't make it a fact. Unless Rockstar tells us that there will NEVER be a new map DLC then it's safe to assume that we can dismiss your "fact".

You make it sound as if that's not possible. It's not as if they would just plunk out the GTA4 version Liberty City with no graphical or topographic improvements. Perhaps you forget this is a game company infamous for it's attention to detail.

He wasn't pulling a heist when you met him either, he was robbing a local drug store. It's been a while, but I only remember him talking about previous robberies as well when you take him on heists.

 

I don't see a problem with his situation. When you move to a city where you have no connections, you gotta start over. sh*t happens.

I can't see them waste a beautiful map that they worked hard on only to have it just sit in GTA IV. I don't see why they wouldn't expand it to online. if you guys recall they made Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories. Hell I'd love to see an updated liberty city with all the things we're able to do in online now. All the roads to be finished, Yusaf's Tower would be built, bowling mini games online, maybe the carnival will open, the nightlife and clubs, owning apartments in manhattan overlooking another island or central park. an underwater sea bed. life at the beach this time because GTA IV took place in the fall. maybe this time it'll be in the summer, or even season changes. NYC gets snow, LA doesn't really get any if that, definitely on the mountains of course. Pull some heists in Liberty City, rob gas stations, pull off the ol' swingset glitch on the new cars. Fly planes and ride jet-skies through the bays between islands. proper strip clubs now, create races and deathmatches in Liberty City, imagine a deathmatch on Happiness Island, haha. All I'm saying is that I don't think Rockstar would waste a perfectly done map.

Upon playing GTAO for myself I cant see them expanding to other Cities on the current consoles as was suggested by many others in the thread......but this was the big talk from The Benz in the pre release interview....another thing he says here is that heists when first released will be quite straight forward missions....since we've waited this long perhaps we will just get the real heists lol?

 

"Initially, they'll be simpler. But we do have plans to set up heists that could contain twenty individual components."

When Michael repels down the building in the mission "Three's Company," he saves the hostage from the sadistic plans of Karen, who sought to anally violate him with a large flashlight. She is the same person as Michelle from GTA IV... I am guessing you know this but for anyone who doesn't there it is.

I don't think that's how it works.

 

 

It is a pretty rudimentary and simple way of explaining it, perhaps too much so but the right idea never the less.

 

Both 'maps' would be in separate world spaces, at least to run on last gen consoles. If you are in the San Andreas world space, the Liberty City worldspace wouldn't be active, so there would be no additional or minimal at best (Having never worked with the RAGE engine, I can only guess as to how it handles this) overhead. Whilst in the Liberty City worldspace, the reverse is true. A player in this case would only need to have one world space loaded at any given time and this transition could occur at the airport (with a loading screen - probably lengthy in truth).

 

Shared assets might be a problem, but I doubt they would be a major road block to such an expansion.

This; if someone can do it; it is Rockstar. This said; guys and girls PLEASE read the interview. There is said that R* WILL in FACT want new maps added in online and are TOYING with OLD STUFF.

This; as I said before; map limitations aren't the issue; memory, for details, is the issue. Map size can be overcome if you just have enough HDD space.

 

and they said clearly: "we COULD, if we wanted, simulate the ENTIRE world, different countries, whatever." I don't know about you guys; but this is a pretty clear statement for me. If someone can do this, it is R*. And as stated here, THEY CAN!
