Chase177
I was recently thinking about the amazing moments I had in Delta Force back in the day and the awesome community it had. Black Hawk Down was my favorite in the series, I spent so many hours playing that game. The multiplayer was top notch for it's time, and honestly it's still much better than a lot of the multiplayer games we see today. With the custom maps and 50 player servers I could barely put the game down when I first got it. Has anyone else here played the Delta Force games? Share your experiences and stories of this classic series. Misbegotten cad, GN 92 and Ciaran
gtamann123
I remember playing the Black Hawk Down demo on one of the Playstation 2 game sampler discs you could buy from Gamestop for like $2 back in the day. It was pretty good but I domt remember very many details of it
uNi
Good memories, I remember playing the demo from Delta Force 1 and 2 for endless hours. Â Â
GN 92
The only DF I played was Black Hawk Down, on PC, along with BF Vietnam and 1942. Good old times that I miss. Mister Pink

GunWrath
Dude, Delta Force 1, 2 and Land Warrior were my life for a few years growing up. Hours upon hours into the multiplayer, had an international squad for quite some time as well (Hierarchy) our old clan tag was ][-][ in case we've crossed paths before. I was Bubba*][-][  My favorite thing about the DF series were making the custom maps. I've notice sites like DF-Barracks and others are still running and people still get together and play on DF2 but it's very limited. There's also a DF Reunion Facebook if you use it. I rarely use FB but I have posted on there a few times and actually chatted up with some guys I've played with back in those days. They sure don't make games like that any more. Novalogic was king man.. I'm looking at the case for my DF2 now and makes my heart sink to my nutsack.  Some of the old missions.. f*ck, nostalgia trip   Anyone that played religiously, do you remember the sniper battles online? Would run for about 30mins to get in a far off sniper position, 1200m plus, then finally square off with another sniper, you could literally see the tracers coming in so all you had to do was strafe left or right, dodge it and return fire. Battles would last about 30mins. Good times man, good times. And the custom maps, loved that feature. I've spent hours making some pretty insane maps.  Here's acouple of the older DF sites that are still operating, just not at full capacity any more. I actually had a hand in structuring NovaHQ years back but they've taken a new face since then. Anyways, here's some links just to give you a blast to the past:  http://www.dfbarracks.com http://www.novahq.net http://www.dfarena.com http://www.dfreload.com Edited April 10, 2014 by GunWrath
Kiffster
I only played Black Hawk Down, but only single player (I've never really been a multiplayer kinda guy). It was still great fun though.
Chase177
@GunWrath Those sniper battles were insane. The distance they could hit you from was unbelievable and took a lot of skill, practice and luck. Your basically trying to snipe a pixel they are so far away. Misbegotten cad
Yes, I remember, as it was one of the first PC shooters I had, along with sin and Quake 2. It was great because of those huge open vistas that allowed for multible approach strategies. -True classic!
Zancudo
I consider Joint Operations (from the creators of Delta Force; similar to each other) the best shooter of all-time. None other game beats the scale of it (variety of huge maps, including mountains and islands; back in the "days of glory" it used to carry up to 100 players), that fantastic tropical atmosphere, the wide range of vehicles (sea, land and air), and the gameplay which forced you to think strategically (you get killed after just a couple shots) and allowed you to use the jungle terrain to sneak upon other players! Â To this day, I have a huge blast with it. One of my favourite things to do, is when I quietly get into the other teams' home base and make sure nobody sees me. Then I grab C4 and plant it on an enemy's vehicle. You know the rest, hehe (I'm such a naughty boy, right?). Sometimes I even hide in the cockpit of their choppers, and kill them with a knife as the pilot is already high in the air. Freaking awesome. Â Damn, I wish there was a game similar to this today. Battlefield series are the closest, but the main thing is that they, unfortunately, don't have the ability to use the dense jungle terrain for stealth purposes, like in JO. Maybe BF5? GunWrath
Yeah, I played a little bit of JO before finally bailing on Novalogic. Most of us went onto Battlefield by then.. but BF never provides good stealth because on the enemies screen, they don't see the brush you're hiding behind, they just see you. So sniping was never a go to for me in Battlefield. Â Anyways, I was kind of excited for Delta Force: Angel Falls.. but I guess Nova finally bankrupted or something and it never released. I was so ready to get back into Delta Force. Not only was it truly a classic and fun game for me, but it was also the best MP community I've ever been a part of. Ciaran
I only played Delta Force Black Hawk Down, I purchased it in England, It is such an awesome game, I played many hours on it with my brother, ahh, such good memories...
GunWrath
Yeah, I just looked back.. the last update for DF2 released was in 2000 .. so 14yrs ago when I first came across DF2. Half my life.
Chase177
I just checked a server list for BHD and it seems to still have a few active servers. Unfortunately it didn't list any older DF games, so I'm not sure if those games are still kicking or not. Â Link to server list. (Includes Joint Ops games as well) http://jointops.org/lobby/novalobby.php?lobby=bhd Edited April 10, 2014 by Chase177
GunWrath
Yeah, there's still some that play around on DF2 but I believe it's only one or two lobbies that are hosted through DFFavorites. But you have to have some other downloads in order to play it. Punkbuster and other programs. Last time I've attempted to join I couldn't because it stayed full. Â Really wish my PC wasn't fried, I could probably run the games on my laptop but near breaking point I'm sure.. so I'm not going to attempt it. I honestly don't even want to look back on them because of the memories. I still visit some old squads from those days and post on their forums every now and then. Most have moved on to Battlefield and some still play DF Xtreme 2.
Phazr
Sorry to revive an old topic but... HOLY sh*t! lol i though i was the only one with memories of this game. I Used to have practices with ][-][ lol i was on LOE, yall were ranked first and we were like 3rd i think in the tourneys. I was Tenchu LOE and later changed it to Ten, then 10 for a shorter tag. I made A LOT of maps for this game, many were used by multiple clans for games and practice. i made one that was a maze of desert walls that got heavy rotation, towers on each side. Man... i kinda miss it lol I'll have to check out the facebook group you mentioned.
