Pump shotgun better than Assault shotgun?

I've been playing alot of TDM and free roam killing and I find alot of people just use the assault shotgun... Most games I find an automatic shotgun for less skilled players in any game. It is really bad in Auto-aim lobbies.

 

So I did some testing with one of my friends and found the pump shotgun to be better overall when it comes to a skillful play style. Longer range, better one-hit kill ranges, more satisfying to kill other player with in general, silencer makes it sound sexy, and it is more respectable to use (my opinion, don't get butthurt). But then again.... it still a shotgun.

 

When I killed by a auto shotgun it does in some way annoy me but I have my ways around them but when my win depends on 5 other random players with .6 kds who don't know what the cover button is , then I feel justified for expressing anger. Going 30 and 5 when the rest your you team goes 3 and 12 kinda stings a little.

 

I'm all for competitive play if there is any to be found in GTA online but when people use RPGs and Assault shotguns or tanks for wins or kills then they shall receive no respect from me. I grew up on Unreal tournament,Halo, Counterstrike,etc so you can see where I'm coming from. Everyone in those communities had respect and honor. Kinda sad that is missing from games these days...

 

tl;dr version : Auto shotguns users are bad.

 

Also what is up with people surviving headshots from snipers or ARs lately? I'm noticing it more and more.

Calling people who use the Assault Shotty isn't fair really, because some people just prefer it like myself.

 

I'm a skilled player and i love the Assault Shotty in fact it's the only shotgun i do use when i do use it and it's because i like it and i love the sound it makes KABOOOOM!!.

most games have the shotgun types balanced, pump being slightly better than auto

not in this game though, auto shotgun demolishes everything. its not so bad in auto aim since you could easily just lock on and aim slighty up for a headshot instakill on the shotty user, but in freeaim its just annoying because of the clunky aiming, and people can spray it without having to really do anything but hold the fire button

To be honest, skill to me is irrelevant, as I'm already pretty bad at this game compared to lots of others. So, using the Auto-Shotgun is helpful since it gets the job done quickly and efficiently.

I don't mind the shotguns in this game, but saying it was put in the game for a reason is a pretty weak argument. There are overpowered weapons in plenty of games that cause too much imbalance.

I don't mind the shotguns in this game, but saying it was put in the game for a reason is a pretty weak argument. There are overpowered weapons in plenty of games that cause too much imbalance.

 

Some people will say that the low level players shouldn't have access to the heavy pistol and special carbine because it ranks up there with the better assault rifles.

I like the Sawed Shotgun better than pump, but no, the assault is my favorite. I only use it when 2 guys are cruising past me in a bright yellow tourism I with money wheel white walls. It's really easy to kill people driving past you/at you with an assault shotgun.

Good tip. I always miss with my beloved Combat MG so I'll have to try that. And I hate autocorrect - your "Turismo" became tourism lol. Mine usually corrects it to "truism".

I love the assault shotgun, one of my favorite weapons, though not always useful. But nothing beats it when you have people speeding toward u trying to run u over. Its a video game, don't give a crap about skill. That gun is powerful and effective, nuff said.

This opinion is devoid of any real sense and meaning.... But i guess that makes sense, its just an opinion..

 

 

Also OP; i did tests with the Pump Shotgun and the Auto-Shotgun and the later was better in almost every stat (not in range).... TBH I WOULD LOVE THAT YOU WERE RIGHT, and the best gun was the Pump Shotgun and not that sh*tty n00b tube, but it is not the case

I shot a dude point blank with my pump shotgun yesterday. He lived, and before my toon could pump my 2nd shot into him, he blasted me dead with an assault shotty. I tried.

 

TL:DR - Assault Shotgun > Pump Shotgun

Shotguns by their definition are supposed to give the operator a distinct advantage in close range engagements. It's a CQC, one hit kill Shock & Awe weapon. You're not supposed to get up when hit with a shotgun shell within 50 meters, whether it's Buckshot, Flechette, Slugs, Frag rounds...hell even rock salt. So for the life of me I can't understand why there are so many people...in so many games...who bitch about being killed with a shotty. I myself prefer the pump version...as I'm pretty nasty with it accuracy wise. I usually aim upper torso, which is instant death for whoever is in from of me. It's my go-to tool when in CQC situations, and if you have a problem with it, tough sh*t. It's in the game for a reason, and when properly used in it's proper application it's nearly unstoppable. Yes, other guns have higher ROF, but while the other guy is sprayin' & prayin' with an Auto shotty, I'm lining his ass up then layin' his ass down with my pump.

 

The Pump shotty is modeled after the 870MSC Shotgun, the most recognized and used Shotgun in the world. ALL major law enforcement agencies use the 870. It's a reliable, durable and extremely accurate weapon when used to it's specs properly. In every video game that's ever had a shotgun in it, one is or is modeled after the 870. GTAO's rendition of it isn't far off from the real thing. Within 50 meters, you're dead if you're hit by it from someone with halfway decent aim. So in the hands of someone who's naturally accurate with their shots, yea...it's gonna seem OP. My personal preference is the pump over auto shotties...in any game. Usually they pack a stronger punch and have better accuracy and range. If you wanna spam your auto shotty fire at me, feel free to. Just don't go sending me hate messages after you watch your avatar slump over awkwardly when I figurative blow it's head off.

 

EDIT: I predominately play Free-Aim. So Auto Shotgun spammers end up looking especially foolish shooting everything but me. It'll take them sometimes a clip and a half to kill me. All it takes me is one shot at upper chest level.

Exactly the moral of this story isn't "Auto shotguns users are bad." it's the OP got his butt whupped by someone who used an auto-shooty and so he comes to this forum to make a thread about how unskilled players must be to use a shotgun when he isn't very skilled himself and hoping to get a hug and an uproar from other members saying the auto-shotty is to OP.

 

Like you said if he was he would've picked em off before they got to him first and if he had then there would be no thread here.

The other upside to it is even if you miss you still shred the car with buckshot and make it look much better

I hate when people say only noobs used assault shotguns. When I'm fighting a guy in close quarters, I want to use the best possible weapon to get the job done. I'm not going to think about how cheap using an assault shotgun is when I'm fighting. If it gets the job done I use it. And I love the sound of a silenced assault shotgun.

 

EDIT: After playing around for a while without using the assault shotgun in free aim, I really hate it. It does take no skill, and most of the time the people who use it suck at shooting. It's a cheap weapon
