I remember in San Andreas you could go to they gym learn new moves and get ripped or even really fat if you wanted to, dose anyone else miss the old feature?

I notice there is a huge Gym at the beach with tons of body-builders in GTA 5 however it give you "no" option to use the gym i feel like the game is mocking me...feel so left out.

I know it doesn't really matter what you look like in a video game but i think it would be cool to have this feature, you could make yourself look like biggie smalls or arnold schwarzenegger if you wanted to. Everyone right now just looks so normal, normal sucks.

f*ck yeah, not sure why make all the online players skinny, I think thats one reason i don't like the online characters, you don't get to modify them when you choose them because of that bullsh*t grandparents thing, but on top of that all female characters look hot and how they are suppose to but guys can't look buff and ripped (like franklin) throughout the online experience, which sucks!!!!

They just need to open restaurants in the future so that we can be able to fatten up/get bigger. I'm tire of eating snack bars all the God-damn time. I still want some of this Triple melt cheese burger! Looks f*cking tasty

Yeah, honestly. A lot.

Online this would greatly add to the diversity of appearances, and would make appearance more reflective of each player's style. Along with allowing physical shape to change, they should also allow it to fluctuate more rapidly based on recent gameplay. I don't think that players should get fat just because you don't play the game for a while, but I do think they should get fat/skinny if you play the game and do (or don't do) certain activities.

Alas, I doubt they have the capacity to change this at this point. I have no clue why they would've left this out of the story mode. I can only presume that system capacity may have something to do with why it might not be online, even if it was included in story mode.

This has been discussed several times recently I believe ad the overall answer is they wish they could pick size. The problem is when you have multiple different body types the clothing has to be modified to 'fit' the character or they would only look buff or fat when they weren't wearing a shirt. Possibly later in the life of GTAO when they have more time mess around and add more features instead of worrying about heists and other glitches. Would love to see this implemented soon though. Would be pretty funny seeing a giant fat person skydiving out of a tiny plane :D

It would've been nice to have different body type choices, interactive gyms and food joints to alter your weight type, thus introducing more things to do in free roam. As a matter of fact this really should've been an option in GTA 5 from the get go. There would definitely be more variety and less clones running.

They would have to make multiple versions of the current clothes. Also the game would then have to render different character builds instead of one which could cause more server lag.

I go back & forth with this. the shoulders on my online character crack me up sometimes (mostly at the end of a mission), but when I play SP, Franklin looks too "bulky" to me. lol @ him on a bike. [que_clown music]

being able to find a middle ground would be nice.

lol @ being to fat to climb on GTA:SA

Good point, really just room for more problems and we all know R has many of those right now :panic:

I think it's the last gen limitations what with the emotion engine and new physics. San Andreas was the last and most in depth of that generation and now they are just getting to grips with the current engine.

I don't really miss it personally. It was a cool idea on low polygon models but in the end I always wound up lean and slightly buff even if I was trying to have a fat play through. Walking was too slow and climbing over walls too useful.

Well, perhaps we'll see GTAO move to next gen in the future. That would be cool if we could transfer our chars over. I wouldn't want to start from scratch.

That's just the point. They should have done it this way:

1. In char creation, have a S M L XL XXL (XXL = the body builder types at the beach for example) preset body types. Pretty much the same way you can chose presets in Skyrim.

2. Once you pick the body type you want to see online, this preset would allow for physical character variation based on stuff your char does in the game. So if you picked the extreme end aka XXL/body builder type, you'd start the game looking like a buff body builder. But if you didn't work out daily at the beach or use gym equipment around the map, your char's physical appearance would change. HOWEVER,

3. ThIs body morphing would be a sudden change and only go into effect the next time you come online or switch online sessions.

  • So if you picked the XXL body builder type, but didn't work out for say 1-2 game days, the next time your char switches sessions or logs back online, you would see they looked skinny. Just the way CJ looked before he started working out at the gym in SA.
  • Now say your char started as a XXL from char creation. But over the next 1-2 game days did nothing but eat convenience store junk food (while NOT on missions like survival etc). Or didn't do any intensive physical activity in FM (aka physically running from other players, the police, swimming, bicycle riding non motor vehicle bikes, or doing any non mission related activities like golf, or arm wresting etc). Then the next time you log on/switch sessions, you'd see your char was fat. So the rate of muscle loss/body morphing would be extreme for XXL.

  • Now go to the other extreme and say you pick a S (small/skinny) body preset in char creation aka the current body preset everyone currently gets atm. Then no matter how hard your char tried to work out, they wouldn't be able to stay muscular for long i.e. 1-2 game days if playing continuously. So basically if they miss a day working out in the gym, the next time you switch sessions or log back on, they would revert to being skinny again. Same with trying to get fat from overeating. This would be close to realism because in irl, it's challenging for skinny body type ppl to get fat because of genetics (high metabolism) and/or their environment.

  • Now pick a mid range body type in char creation aka M - XL. Only these body types would experience the ability to gradually body morph like described in #3. But the rates at which your char would look muscular to thin would be significantly less than for XXL (extreme muscle mass loss if not work out daily) to S (small/skinny body preset where you can't get fat/muscular or big at all)

Finally,

4. They should have added clothing for S M L XL XXL body types in all clothing stores. So all you'd need to do is visit the clothing store and buy the appropriate size clothing.

If you happen to be out of the appropriate sized clothing after body morphing, then your char would have to run around in their underwear until they could afford the right clothing sizes. That would give ppl something to work toward TBH.

Being fat is something I predict would happen to a TON of ppl in FM with the CoD mindset ppl have in FM. Basically come online, claim a bit of turf in FM, then park your ass there un-moving. Just so you can shoot at anyone who drives withing 3-4 blocks of your camping spot. Assuming this is all ppl do (since most of the missions, and non mission activities are always vacant) and eat to keep up their health in FM, then most griefers would all be fat TBH

You know nothing of lag...

There's a reason they don;t have APB or Saint's Row level of character customization. it's to maintain a steady ping even on slow connections. if everyone is free to look different, then the servers have that much more data to stream to the console & vice-versa. It's why we don't have as many diverse models at once in MP as we do in SP. R* considered gameplay over customization...and what would you prefer? To play the game as is, or have a unique character that no one will really appreciate the details of & intensify the data streaming on your console?

People already complain about their connections when they suddenly drop from their lobby into an empty one....

How am I supposed to assume you know of basic network streaming & ping when you're saying that they "should make a game that doesn't lag as bad." (The game runs pretty smooth; it's not October anymore.) and then assume that because it isn't money related, R* have no interest in it?

Seriously, how?
