Paid for DLC

Given the timing of this game and how we only have about a year left of online for this generation of consoles would you pay for dlc that you wouldn't be able to use after say 6 months? This is why I think they should concentrate on singleplayer dlc so we could enjoy it in years to come. Make it work like undead nightmare so we can buy it on disc and we can get both multiplayer and singleplayer out of the dlc so it doesn't lose value the day we all lose our online services. That personally would put me off buying dlc if it was exclusive to online.

What makes you say that there is only a year left for online? Do you have proof or is this speculation? Because Microsoft announced they have a 5 year sales plan for the XBox 360 and most games coming out have a version for the "old" consoles.

Its just speculation kind of assumed from rumours and thought that microsoft and sony would pull the plug some time next year.

There's still a lot of people playing on X360/PS3 so its far away from dying. I myself have a PS4 but haven't used it in weeks...

I have no gaems ;_;

Also, SP can get a bit boring if you play it for too long so if they continue to expand the future GTA O, then things'll be looking very bright(especially when they add new cities, Vice City Pls)

And my personal opinion is we will never see paid DLC. When DLC comes out everybody has to download it so as to remain compatible with each other. So that means everybody would have to download the DLC, but wouldn't have access to the features unless they paid. And people figured out how to get Collectors Edition DLC, so paid DLC would get "hacked" too.

Didn't the ps2 have a life of 12 years? That's 2 generations. And if i'm correct, there are still some online games for ps2.

OP is just assuming that everyone is going to rush out to buy the PS4/Xbox 1 when summer comes around (students), or have it bought for them,which is certainly not true, not until it comes down in price....

 

I, myself, plan to keep using my PS3 for quite some time....

Microsoft announced that it's gonna be making games for 360 well into 2016. That's just the shelf life. The online and servers will stay up much longer.

Fortunately or unfortunately for all of us, the present generation consoles will probably have a long life remaining, because it's going to take so long for a critical mass of next gen game content to get created, which is kind of the same situation as the beginning of this present gen.

 

The next gen consoles are kind of like 4K HDTV, a great new platform without much content. Early adopters quickly exhaust the few bits of content available.

 

Ironically, by the way, it's not even clear if next gen consoles will support games at 4K resolution. That would be ridiculous.

OT: I don't think DLC lifetime will be limited by Online lifetime. I only expect DLC to last about 3 weeks anyway, if it's just another, shorter episode of the GTAV story.
