Grinded my ass off getting to level 50

airstrike is almost as useless as the tear gas bombs

 

In some situations it isn't that bad. Someone with a bounty hide himself in the ammo-nation today. He was in the room between the sale-room & the shooting-range, camping. I didn't want approach him because he may had a assault shotgun, so i've thrown some ( 6-7 ) tear gas in his corner & 10 seconds later he runned into my fire. Tear gas win!

 

 

My experience is that if you can hit him with the tear gas, you could have hit him with a grenade.

 

Tear gas is great. Especially online. Explosions can fail missions.

 

On topic, most of the phone a friend bs is pretty useless, but especially the airstrike. Called it once; never again.

 

 

Never tried to use it in missions but all the missions are easy as hell with guns anyway. On auto-aim, that is.

 

Anyway, tear gas is supposed to be for crowd control right? Good luck controlling any crowd with this crap. Am I mistaken in saying that the radius is about the same as that of a grenade? Haven't used tear gas in a while, but the only time I tried to use it I tossed it at a player who was behind cover, waited for like 15 seconds, then said f*ck it, tossed a grenade and killed him.

It's got a pretty crappy radius but it has its uses. I use it on survival mode all the time when I'm the last player left alive. Throw it at a spot where the AI normally takes cover and they'll run right into the cloud and kill themselves. Also when I'm the last person alive on a mission or doing a solo run, they come in handy. Mostly they're unnecessary but when you're all by yourself they can be life-saving. Just wish they lasted longer. They're also cheap.

use it against snipers on top of a building. they cant run away, and they wont know its coming until the first explosion hits.the airstrike has a pretty big blast radius which covers most rooftops with a flare right beside it.

 

thats the only way I've killed and been killed by an airstrike.

Only to find out that it's total crap. Half the time you miss the target completely and the other half the bombs hit you because you can't throw the flare very far.

 

This needs addressing.

50 is hardly a grind.

This. So far, the only use I've found is for campers. Guy on top of the hanger sniping and using a buzzard? Go inside, toss flare on the floor under his blip.

I used it once to give a subtle clue of my location during a hide and seek in the maze.

OP once you get past 100, it's smooth sailing leveling up, as long as you don't dick around in free roam.

This statement is so true and yet so ironic at the same time. The OP delayed having fun in free-roam and instead ground his off to reach a level so instead of being a punching bag, he could actually compete in free-roam and potentially have some fun. But instead he got there and it wasn't fun.

 

Then, the good but ironic advice is to keep grinding to reach necessary higher levels, but don't play free-roam and don't actually try to have any fun because that will interfere with the leveling needed to possibly have fun someday. But probably not, because the only thing going on in free-roam is trying to survive the mindless assholes, snipers, tankers, drive-by sticky-bombers etc, which is the reason that high level countermeasures like air strikes are needed (except they don't work).

 

It's funny that this whole bag of ironic truth was not well telegraphed in the Rockstar GTA0 marketing materials. They just made it all look like such fun back then. Now we have the reality.

In Black Ops 2, you take out some iPad with lifeproof cover, where you can set the coordinates for your airstrike.

 

Yes I know, CoD, but a similar thing in Online would become handy.

They could make you set a waypoint on the map when you call. That waypoint then goes bye bye.

 

That's how it should have worked.

 

But then again bounties would have air strikes raining on them like a monsoon.

I just found out the airstrike can actually kill police helicopters and this comes in handy.
