Cash Cards, good concept run amock (wall of txt)

Recommended Posts

I read post after post of people complaining or bitching about cash cards,

I will go on record an say i have NOT purchased one yet, but would consider it and why

While it may seem dumb to pay real money for a cash card to get play money to use in the game consider this

Rockstar has taken an approach to DLC content that i have not seen before, up to this point all the DLC has been a free download, yes i do have to earn in game cash to buy some of the items, but its in game cash not real money.the update and content were free,,,,,,so now lets sell cash cards if a player wants to use them or get the items quickly

If the DLC we have got thus far was an optional download we had to pay real money for, a lot of players would simply not have it for one reason or the other

this would split the player base into the haves and have nots

Case in point

COD titles Black Ops, MW3, Black Ops2, Ghosts

All have DLC map packs to expand your online game all cost real Money, ranging from $14.99 for a couple of maps to a season pass costing $49. bucks but includes all the maps to be released

I have all the content released for the first three titles i listed

when playing with friends that dont have some or all of the released DLC i will see a msg at times that reads DLC content disabled due to party members not have the map packs....some of the titles will go a step further and tell me which friends dont have it

this leaves me with a decision to make, kick a friend(s) out of a lobby so i play my purchased DLC online or hang with my friends and not play it

I also have the option to disable my DLC when playing online if i do so i am put on servers we other players who do not have DLC...thus splitting the player base, and putting me on servers where most of the players are from other countries and dont speak a language i understand.....

Other games like

Split Second, Need for Speed, MotorStorm

All offer cars and or upgrades to cars for sell.. Real Money again and if i want to compete against some of these vehicles i am forced into spending that real money or get left behind in the dust

I thing Rockstar had a good Idea going with DLC and keeping it free (so far), and selling cash cards to fund the DLC content,

I cant really blame them for nerfing some payouts, and will commend them for increasing the ones they have,

people who glitch money or gain in game money buy ways not intended may screw up a good thing for all of us

if you have completed the game and watched the ending Credits where it names the people involved in this games creation (20 minutes worth of names)

and considered 2 yrs of salary for each person at a small amount of 20k per person the salary cost would be into the Millions ...and if you think you can hire a programmer for 20k a year you are highly mistaken.......then add to that copyrights purchased and filed, Building and office space, people who clean and maintain those buildings ect.......the billions you claim they made from the sale of the game starts dropping real fast..........and oh yeah lets not forget that the retail price we paid $59.00 is the amount retailers agreed to sale the game for and includes the mark-up they put on the game....not Rockstar Profit what they sold the game to the retailer for is probably 30-60% less as most retailers in the USA require a Min. percentage before they will use real estate(space) inside that store to sell an item

I support cash cards too as they help R* a lot. I would never buy one cause I find them too expensive but Kudos to those who purchase it. If it wasnt for them, we would be paying Real money for DLC

Also, can you imagine if R* was owned by EA(they ruined a lot of game franchises and I lost respect for them)? They would probably be selling each car such as the Turismo for like $3.99....they won the worst company in America(won it twice in a row :colgate: )cause all they care about is money. Scumbags

yeah, instead of having to pay $.99 for a gold gun upgrade, let the people who want cashcards buy them, those that dont wont. it helps keep the DLC development going. cashcards are scubadave verified so its OK for everyone to purchase.

Its genius! Everybody has access to the same content without having to pay anything more than retail price. If you really need these goodies right away you can voluntarily buy a cash card for real money. What is the problem here? The game caters to casual and more hardcore gamers at the same time.

in all honesty if those cash cards had a reasonable price tag, I actually wouldn't mind purchasing them if I really needed the cash, but seriously 129 dollars for 8million is ridiculous

Now that cash cards have received Scubadave verification, we no longer need any more threads relating to them. The war is won, it was brutal, trying and bloody but we got there in the end.

Praise be to Scubadave

Ok good. Now I don't feel as guilty now that I've bought a few of them.

The "disabling DLC" in order to play with others is a very good point...

Before GTAV, the last game I bought that had DLC was Mortal Kombat. They ended up having four DLC characters, priced at $5 each. So, $20 extra for all four. For those who didn't want the DLC characters, they had "compatibility packs" that could be downloaded and included new outfits.

Then, the problem reared it's ugly head: If you had bought all four DLC characters, but your opponent hadn't downloaded the compatibility packs for those characters, you were not allowed to use the DLC characters that you had paid for...

Now, imagine the same situation in GTA:O... You buy the Gusenberg for $2 and the Roosevelt for $3... So, $5 in REAL MONEY spent. Then, because one jackass wants to troll everyone, he doesn't download the "compatibility pack," which means any session he's in, nobody can use their Gusenberg or drive their Roosevelt that, again, YOU HAVE PAID MONEY FOR! Would you honestly like access to what weapons and cars you have to be dependent on everyone else in the session having either bought the DLC or having a compatibility pack?

Apply that thought process to the upcoming High Life DLC... Instead of being free, what if it costs $5 and the only way you can have access to both your garages (and the cars in them) is if everyone else in the session has either bought the DLC, or downloaded a "compatibility pack?" My guess is, many of the anti-cashcard people would be screaming about this saying "why not have the DLC be free for everyone, just charge GTA$ for the contents!!!"

Take it even further out... Heists. The DLC costs you $10, but if one person in a 16 room session doesn't have it, you're out of luck. Same thing with a "Casino" DLC... $10 and you can access the casino... But, only of every other person in the session has access to it, too...

Do you really want to have the ability to play DLC that YOU PAID FOR in the hands of other players, knowing how sh*tty some of the players of the GTA community are...? I certainly don't.

true, but they would probably do something besides the compatiblity packs. those were in SR also but they would just roll it into an update and everyone would be able to see the gusenberg, just restrict purchase of it. even as it stands right now, before 1.06 or whatever hackers and modders were able to get pink buzzards into the game and everyone could seeit ..... GTAO its coded differently. either way, r* has put their summer intern in the finance department on this and he said, "lets go freemium" and thus it was so I dont think we'll see paid DLC anytime soon with $125 million in cash cards being sold per quarter.

They really need to put a filter on this site somewhat like what R* has...

So if you try and cuss it won't let you send the message so they should enter Cash Cards, Kesh Kards, Kards Of Cash, Cards of Cash and any other variation into a filer so every time those words are mention the site won't allow you to post that topic/post
