i was reading comments on a gta v video and saw this argument about which gta is better gta v or gta sa

someone said gta v sucks and then somebody asked why he/she told him these reasons

1. gta sa is bigger

2. cj was a better protagonist

3. better story and missions

4. more side activities

the other person told him/her what he thought

1. gta sa is not bigger than 5

2. cj was a pussy

3. the story sucked and the missions in gta v were better

4. yea there's more side activities but most of them sucked

and you can guess what happened from there. i really want to know why gta sa fanboys cant let gta v be somebody else fav gta. what do you guys think about this

Some people just can't let go of the past, GTA San Andreas is my second favourite GTA but I agree with everything you said. I was disappointed by the lack of core San Andreas features such as planes and vehicle variety in GTA IV, but that was it, I didn't miss stuff like the gym (which was just button mashing) and the gangsta theme, stuff that many GTA San Andreas fans want to return.

With that being said though, I haven't actually seen any GTA SA fans whining for every thing feature to return on this forum in a while, it's mainly just GTA IV and GTA V fans now.

Nostalgia, that's all I have to say. I sometimes have that feeling with IV and V but I don't hate. The same thing may happen in the next GTA installment, People will say "GTA VI sucks, GTA V is better."

This is why the next GTA needs a completely new location that will finally make people let the past go. I love SA and IV as much as anybody but R has always done things different with each game and I don't see why they expected them to stop now. Honestly IV fans have become almost worse. They have just been insufferable ever since that leaked gameplay footage came out a week before the game.

SA was a great game. But since 5 doesn't have as many features, it gets looked down because of that. While SA had more features, 5 was in depth with less features. Golf really feels like golf.

i mainly see it with sa fanboys if someone has 3, 4 or vice city as they favorite they don't praise it half as much as san andreas.

warlord GTAV

gta v will be complete when they give us some gambling (casino, horsetrack) loved san andreas but gtav is much better except you can tell they left features out on purpose in sp so we have to buy them back in dlc.its good to get the free ones but they are really just for online fixes.

Why should we let go of SA, it was some peoples favorite. V is hated because it's the new one. The same thing happened to IV and it will happen to VI.

But that's exactly the problem. Wtf is golf doing in a GTA game? With GTA V Rockstar have taken a turn away from the crime setting and instead gave us a cheesy action/leisure game with a poorly presented story and bad voice acting and dialogue.

SA brought a lot to the table for the franchise, IV gave a natural advancement on everything GTA was at its core. All V had to do was expand on IV the same way VC and SA expanded on III.

In short V took a sh*t on the series.

I don't feel as if there's anything wrong with golf or the like being in the game, but it should be complimented with a decent amount of criminal related side missions aswell which IMO GTA V fails to deliver.

SA and GTA IV had leisure activities too, but they were well balanced. GTA V feels like it favours its leisure too much which I think is wrong for a GTA game.

They put so much effort into a full fledged golf game, but there's no form of import/export mission to make some cash for example. I don't think people have a problem with this stuff being in the game as such, but it's moreso the focus while neglecting traditional criminal elements that people seem to be pissed about.

I'm actually worried how GTA VI's going to turned on based on GTA V. GTA VI will probably be a glorified sims game where crime has taken the back seat.

Wtf is doing basketball in a GTA game? Wtf is doing eating to keep you healthy in a GTA game? Wtf are doing girl friends in a GTA game? Wtf are doing ambulance, firetruck, taxi or vigilante missions in a GTA game? So V took a sh*t on the series, huh? Well, SA took a BIG sh*t on the series, big time.

The arguments of SA fanboys are getting worse...

In SA they were in place as actual missions. Something to complete and be meaningfully rewarded for. The activity itself wasn't a mundane sport either. IV's friend activities weren't exactly well received and it stands to reason. They were mundane mini games that were out of touch with the rest of the game. Although they weren't pointless as they lead to unlocking new features.

V on the other hand just has them placed as a timeless activity. They don't add to anything in the game. They don't progress in to anything bigger and why would they, it's f*cking tennis.

If GTA needs to have leisure activities, I'd say SA had it best. Make them somehow relevant to the criminal overworld or at the very least to the player progression.

Do you remember basketball being advertised as a key cornerstone of the game before SA's release the same way golf was advertised before V? Basketball was an out of the way mingame their solely for the purpose of a quick piss about..A quick piss about in SA is a key feature in V.

Like you point out, eating is a way to regain health that's been in the series since VC and is hardly a leisurely activity.

In SA, girlfriends lead to unlocking bonuses for the player but I'll agree their not really needed in a GTA unless it's part of the narrative.

The Civic Missions were a staple of the series in the 3D era and weren't meaningless sport activities. They were their for an instant access against the clock challenge. And again, lead to unlocking bonus features for the player.

I think the SA fans are worse than IV's. Even moreso when you consider that the bulk of SA fans are suburban gangbangers who do drive-bys on their banana seat bike with nerf guns.

True but IV fans have this air of superiority because they don't like what they consider to be dumbed down and casual gameplay.

I hate SA but it's still fun to mess around there when replaying the old games. I just cant let go of GTA III tho. I just love playing it. Nostalgia has got to me i guess. Planning to beat III again on a new save and taking a break from V.

Edit: If you don't have GTA III go pick it up. It is a true masterpeice...sorry form my grammar btw (on a phone)

Speaking for myself, I think GTA V is complete crap but I don't consider GTA San Andreas to be better than it.

And it's expected from games that have many sequels, there will never be a game where every fan will enjoy it.

exactly side missions / minigames have nothing to do with causing crime the only one i can think of that is crime is pimping (you killed somebody if they were messing with your hoes :die:) i will admit i miss dating it was cool figuring out that if you dated somebody you could keep your weapons if you die. that's really the only thing i miss

Yes. Just think about it. All of the "GTA VI fanboys" right now are people that are dissatisfied with V and look up to Vi to fix everything that V did wrong.

No but I also don't remember R* advertising golf as key feature. In fact, the way they advertised the whole game is probably a lot different than the way they did it with SA so that's not a good comparison. They made gameplay videos for V, something they have never made for a GTA game in the past.

But I understand you. Those side missions in SA rewarded you with things like being fireproof or having more health while in V the only thing you get is money, but that doesn't matter. The game is about committing crime as you said and those missions are the complete opposite of that, therefore this argument is invalid because this applies to both games. The thing is GTA is more than just a crime game. It's pure satire and it depicts the way of life in America, while the focus is on telling a gangster story and this has been that way since GTA 1.

I think people just can't get over the fact that R* took a realistic approach with IV and with V they expanded on it, trying also to please a few ones that wanted the over the top fun of SA back (tanks, minigun, fighter jet, etc...). So some of those rewards in SA wouldn't make sense in the newer games and I don't miss them tbh. But that's my opinion, everyone has his own. You said the voice acting and the dialogues are bad, and the story.. IMO, all these things are miles better in V than in SA, except the voice acting that was pretty good in both games.

Opinions, but the sales speak for themselves, V is the most successful GTA game ever, and it's still selling and selling games. A lot of people enjoyed the game and if they release it on the next gen they might sell more than 10 million copies on XBONE and PS4 combined. R* can be proud of that.
