Freedom Friday's || The Purge

I wanted to post this last week but I didnt get the chance. Now that we have the feature to call Lester and have the cops ignore us for 3 minutes, I think its worth bringing up.

 

I was thinking how great it would be if Rockstar made one day a week, a no wanted level in free roam day. We could call it Freedom Friday's(it could be any day really), where its impossible to get a wanted level in free roam during this time. It would be much like the concept from the movie The Purge.

 

I for one would love this idea. I wish there was an option to turn cops off in free roam, but I understand that it would be impossible for Rockstar to implement such a feature. However, having one day a week where there are no wanted levels would allow players like myself to conduct as much mayhem as they please without worry of those pesky police. It would be nice to get into huge shootouts in free roam without having to deal with the barrage of cops that can ruin the fun.

Gotta be some deterrent to prevent trolls. Wanted Level Free Fridays (henceforth known as WLFFs) would just have every lobby with a Tank griefer who was untouchable because the cops weren't harassing him.

 

Better idea would be Casual Fridays, where players who have a lower play time in the week get bonus RP and cash for all jobs for the Friday. And are forcibly placed into casual wear.

I will agree that they can add an important dynamic, but sometimes they make it difficult to really enjoy the tension created by player vs player, especially with large groups of players going at it

For me its just annoying to spawn down the block from 3 enemies, take two shots, and have every LSPD officer down my throat while a guy in a tank strolls by un bothered.

that would be really nice as i dont believe they would ever add a cop free lobby, since they just monetized the cop off feature with the latest patch, so chances are cop free lobbies would never see the light...

Haven't seen the film but think I know what you're getting at, I can see only one reason for not having wanted levels in Freeroam... Murder!. But there is a better way, what R* should have done or should do is implement dynamic Death Match zones into Freeroam, similar to gang attacks, zones that appear on the map, are time limited & move around so not to restrict players who want to go to those areas for other reasons.

 

These zones could be small on top of current DMs or could be the whole of Sandy Shores, Vinewood hills, North LS etc. or even the whole map.

 

The benefits of DM zones would be no wanted levels, a generous scattering of weaponry, ability to bring buzzards, tanks & jets to the party & additional RP rewards.

 

It's just an idea to condense & confine the killing but reward & encourage it at the same time, everyone likes to rumble, no one like to be killed when they're minding their own business.

 

Currently players are too busy getting easy kills in freeroam to take part in off the map Deathmatches, willing participants could enter these zones, unwilling can be left in relative peace, outside these zones, nothing changes, Freeroam would the same as now.

I think that would be great as a one time event. But I'm neutral on the overall issue.

 

My suggestion would be that they have cops enabled only during the daytime in the game and turned off during the night. So that would be 24 min cycles. You could still go crazy and have fun but at the same time one person couldn't completely get out of hand and own the server with his tank or whatever.

Cops should only be a big problem in the city, and less likely to arrive quickly depending on the area your in. Killing people on grove street should not be as big a deal as Rockford Hills, but yea I'd like all player on player kills to be ignored by cops.

sounds like a great idea. the cops have proven themselves to be nothing more than a nuisance and a disturbance. having lobbies where there is no wanted level would be perfect. for those that don't want to participate, the can be placed in regular lobbies to be tormented by the lspd.

and it wouldn't be impossible for them to do. the did it in IV, but for some reason decided to throw all the good ideas from GTA IV's mp out the window and instead leave us with "GTA:Online"

We could assume that the cops are on strike. It's like Robocop when the cops went on strike, near the end of the film, or like real life Los Angeles in 1991 where the cops pulled out of the riot areas and let anarchy reign (which was parodied in GTA SA, of course).

I have never known a twanker to be dissuaded by the cops. I think it makes the chaos even more exciting for them.

 

The swarming cop cars do add the tiniest challenge for the twanker, to shoot the police cars rather than collide with them, to avoid accumulating explosive damage to their tank, but that's probably too subtle for most twankers to consider, as they bounce up and down in their gamer chair, yelling "Whoooopeee!!!" while continuously mashing the fire button and driving toward white dots.
