ClaudX
In GTA 1, the state, New Guernsey, and the city, Guernsey City, parody New Jersey and Jersey City, respectively. In GTA IV, Alderney State and Alderney City do the same. However, in the mission "Payback" in GTA IV, Jimmy Pegorino says that the Pavano's treat him and his family as "just a bunch of Guernsey goombas". This means that Guernsey City (and possibly New Guernsey itself) exist in GTA IV, alongside Alderney and Alderney City. How is possible that two cities/states based off of the same real-life city, co-exist? Drunken Cowboy and theGTAking101
Ledsbourne
Maybe it was going to be called "Guernsey" when they did the dialogs then changed to "Alderney" and didn't bother to correct it. Or Guernsey is another/archaic/slang name for Alderney. It seems to mean the same as Alderney in what Jimmy says, so doesn't seem like another place. theGTAking101
gtamann123
I think its just a mistake. Alderney was probably called either Guernsey or New Guernsey in the Beta but they changed it for unknown reasons and somehow missed that line of dialogue. Tycek
Since all three names are coming from islands near the coast of Great Britain, I guess Guersney may be part of Alderney State we haven't seen. If Guersney would replace the name of the state the insult would make no sense, since Pegorinos would be the same Guersney Goombas as Pavanos.
