TURN YOUR MIC ON LETS HAVE A LAUGH!

I don't know about everyone, but I get annoyed when I get on a lobby and I hear loud music, heavy breathing, and little kids whining.

If anyone who doesn't know this already wants a silent lobby, on the mini menu, go to chat, and select no one. Enjoy your peaceful session. unfortunately it doesn't mute the DM or race lobbies.

My mic ( well, its my brotherinlaw's ) goes unused a lot since the battery lasts only about 30 minutes after being fully charged before it dies again and it takes about 3 hours to fully charge... Cheap sh*t.

Still, it is fun sometimes to hear mic users, especially when they shower and sing, talk dirty to the strippers, or rage out on the liquor store clerks :p

Nobody does any of that anymore tho, shame.

If I'm not playing with friends/crew then sometimes I will turn the Chat to everyone and just listen to see if there is anything interesting happening. For example, some guys were talking about how they were modding their cars, etc. They were obviously distracted so I crept up on them & threw a sticky at their cars, which were sitting close to one another. That was pretty sweet hearing them cry.

Also, one time a guy kept asking "does anyone in here have a mic?" like 50 times to the entire lobby. I finally said "No...no one in here has a mic!" He spent the next 10 minutes asking 'who said that'.

You wind up having to mute people so often it is just not enjoyable, especially when you have to pause and go to the menu to do so. I have met some cool people by virtue of playing with my mic, but it seems almost every lobby gets me at least one of the following:

1. mouthbreather or someone who does not understand that a mic does not need to be directly on the lips to work;

2. youth < 16;

3. aggro players who believe that their ability to kill someone in free roam using lock ons proves their streetworthiness;

4. people who use the word n_______ as a noun, verb, object, adverb, adjective and modifier, usually within the same sentence; and

5. a kinect mic'er echoing everything their game is doing or even worse what someone in 1-4 is doing.

I find myself playing less and less with my mic for these reasons.

I keep mine off because usually it's kids to young to play or white guys trying to sound "gangsta" if I had a dollar for every white guy who said "nigga" I could buy enough cash cards to be a Legit billionaire. I turn my mic on for mission planning or if someone chatty is genuinely entertaining.

i'm pretty quiet and keep to myself. although i always have my headphone/mic plugged in, but the mic is always turned off. if i want to say something to someone i usually message them first then go to the mic if they want to talk."Mute Player" is what i do if i don't want to hear someone with a hot mic or someone i find annoying.

Indeed. I normally have Chat set to Friends & Crew. But when you drop into a lobby after switching characters, you get a burst of a couple of seconds of audio stupidity before it mutes. The character switch sometimes takes 30 seconds or more, and I forget that it's going to happen.

The other night I was logged into GTA0 from a hotel room and at the same time I was on the phone with my girlfriend. Suddenly the character swap kicks in, and the GTA0 lobby audio opens up, with a spew of stupid party-sounding adolescents roaring through the TV speaker. My GF immediately asks, "What's going on there ???" because you know they are always suspicious that you are out partying (or worse) when you are on travel. I explained that it was just the idiots on the GTA0 mics, but I am not sure that she believed me. :bored:

why? wouldn't it be faster and easier to just unplug your mic/headphones instead if your not wanting to hear anything?

Always have mine on.. usually I give myself up because I forget to turn it off from a previous conversation or something stupid. So now.. I gotta be nice to the little kid talking to himself in the lobby, cause I'm snacking too hard.. *Cold world..*

Keep them off unless you need it imo.
