CJ killed Ryder
Example: The name "Bellic" doesn't exist in Serbia, the name Belic does, and it's pronounced different. Wei Cheng should be named Cheng Wei. Asian names have last name first. Hope in next GTA, Rockstar does more research when they include foreign character. Special Members
It´s not like anyone non-Serbian is gonna give a f*ck about one letter. Belic and Bellic. Same sh*t. theGTAking101, universetwisters, B Dawg and 2 others
~Tiger~
Hope in next GTA, Rockstar does more research when they include foreign character. I should imagine they do a huge amount of research but details are changed for reasons of artistic license. After all, Rockstar produce games, not documentaries. gunziness
Artistic license? They just got the names wrong, what about the rest of the 1838492 american names that exists in the whole series. After all they are just names, I dont think there would be copyright problems with something so generic as peoples names.

It's when a writer changes something simply in order to make it sound more interesting. gunziness
universetwisters
I really couldn't care less if nikos last name had one letter off. Now if the main protagonist were French and they gave him a German accent, that'd be silly. But flipping out over something as silly as a missing letter seems silly. TheDeaconBosco
I like the fact that you reprimanded them for omitting a letter in Niko's name, but didn't mention that serbian names ended in "ic" are usually pronounced "Itch", I think the only character that actually does pronounce serbian names correctly is Bernie. Also, the other "l" might just be an Americanization of Belic, Roman doesn't seem like the guy who would give a damn about that, and Niko doesn't have a Visa. Point is, maybe YOU should do more research on other countries.

Zee
Actually the Housers intentionally did that. It's part of V's genius and what makes it such a masterpiece game of all time. matajuegos01
El Zodape
Not a big deal. They've been doing that since III, afaik. In "Kingdom Come", Catalina leaves Claude a note. It says "...Besos y fuderes...". "Fuderes" is a word used when talking portuguese, not spanish. matajuegos01
Drunken Cowboy
And Niko's Serbian is mis-emphasized in paragraph 265 of Niko's internal monologue blah blah blah. If anything, Rockstar needs to research American culture more... They think they're being sophisticated and edgy on hot-button American issues... Has anyone heard about the abuse of torture recently? Or minute-men? GTA V was like a good ten-fifteen years late in their criticism of American culture.
DarrinPA
But most not researching other counties is American as apple pie. USA! USA! Druken Cowboy - I agree. Rockstar's best work seems to be period pieces. I'm not a fan of their contemporary settings because of their lack of getting the feel just right. The saying "hindsight is 20/20" is true and works in their favor. People only remember the best and worst of previous decades, why not use that to your advantage like before.
