V is the best in the series (My Review)

Recommended Posts

It's okay, peeps. I don't think General wanted to offend anyone. Opinions are opinions. :)

Also, I did not mean that VC and SA were sh*t games. They are really good games, in fact. I simply did not feel their atmosphere as good as other GTA's (SA was nice, but once you left LS it went downhill and the story was uninteresting).

III's, IV's and V's atmospheres are spot on, imo. I can really feel immersed in those games (and SA to a certain extent). In VC everything felt weird: the map (small and uninteresting), the sound effects (weapons sound like crap, punching sound is cartoonish), the peds are boring and not memorable, the animations are stupid (sprinting peds look just wrong, Tommy runs like an idiot and walks like a top model). Of course it may sound nitpicky, but all of these stuff are present from the begginning to the end. It's hard to immerse myself when I'm wondering why everything I see and hear feels awkward. Those little things ruined the immersion for me.

All these little things made the entire expefience just awkward. Call me an idiot, but that's how I feel and it's sad that I can't enjoy the game as most of you guys do.

Of course the gameplay is improved, the story is better than III's and the radio stations kick ass, but thats it.

sh*t, went really off-topic here. Sorry.

III (2001),IV (2008) and V (2013) are Main Games as Opposed to VC (2002) and SA (2004) which are Spin-offs.I didnt play the Revolutionary 3rd main game III (2001) nor it 10th Anniversary Editions on Mobiles or VC (2002) or it 10th Year Editions but tbh after the 2D top-down Era (1997-1999) of GTA,it became SO influential with Every new game since 2001.I would exclude GTA3 (The Modern Father of the Genre) from the following;

*2002's VC later influenced Scarface (2006) the game adoptation of the 1983 movie that influenced the aforementioned Game

*2004's SA influenced many OWGs that revolved around Gangs or Urban Warfare including the Saints Row Franchise that was born two years later (2006) although the 3rd and 4th ruined the franchise.

*2008's IV Raised the bar for HD Openworld Game Past/Present/Future...Realistic Hotwiring was first introduced in GTA 4 and it have been implemented on every OWG since then (excluding Saints Row) and popularised the Realistic Radius Wanted System from Driver in the OWG.

*2013's V was a BIG ONE for the Entertainment Industry and the Gaming World, yeah it wasnt that innovative as it aforementioned Predecessors but it Broke Records,Changed the OWG formula and the Franchise Tradition,The Game in fact Popularised the Multiple-Protags-System in the OW Genre and Sealed GTA as the "Most Successful Game Franchise of All-Time" and the "Best Selling OW-Action/Adventure Game Franchise of All-Time".

The mods here are so biased. This thread stays but the other one is locked?

The other one was clearly a troll thread and had an OP that seemed to have changed his mind abruptly.

People who say V is the best are either kids themselves or started with the HD era.

San Andreas and Vice City ALL DAY

I started playing GTA in 1998 ,I saw how the game has evolved over the years

and I think GTA V is the best in the series ,not because of the story, but because I love the characters

the quality of the missions is high (they are not boring as in other GTA games) graphics 10/10.

r* built an excellent game world, and police pursuits are realistic and challenging, and many other things

7 months after I bought the game, I still enjoy it

San Andreas and Vice City ALL DAY

I started with GTA 3 and Vice City, and they are great games, but I think GTA V is the best in the series.

Well, this escalated quickly... Anyway.

Been playing V since day one, every time i boot the game, it grows on me a little more than it did before. You just can't ignore the level of the detail and interactivity they managed to achieve. This game is a technical miracle as i said numerous times before here (jeez, they used decade old consoles as target platforms), all aspects of gameplay are equally smooth and balanced, and overall i believe that all the fundamentals that made GTA series so great are now not only back, but also improved and better than ever.

Yes, some interiors are there but locked, and that leaves much to be desired. Yes, Yoga was unnecessary while game was lacking other core activities, yes the plot wasn't appealing to everyone. Yes, the Online is partially ruined and that breaks the experience for many players.

BUT.

People here tend to overreact to "negative" elements, when in the same time they almost forget to praise all the other good ones that make this game so great. Keep in mind that no previous GTA was perfect.

There was criticism for lack of bikes and airplanes in GTA 3.

There was criticism for map size and lack of activities in VC.

There was criticism for mediocre graphics in SA.

There was criticism for... pretty much everything in IV.

This right here. V has its lows, but it's still the best.

Typical new-school gamer, here we go.

Sadly this forum seems to be full of kids, praising GTAV to the end. First play all the other GTA games, then you can say which GTA is best, I hate that, I really hate it when kids say GTAV is best, woooohhhoooohoooo.

This has to be one of the, if not the most hypocritical thing I have ever seen.

Saying that people who praise GTA V are kids who haven't played the other games, stupid, GTA V went back to the series roots so your statement makes no sense, especially considering your favourite GTA is IV, which was a departure from the series roots.

I agree. Yoga, not enough criminal related side missions and an overly scripted gaming world defines the roots of the series. ;)

Your acting just like Official General with the yoga thing, you can't go on about yoga and ignore GTA IV's focus on dating, as for criminal side missions, GTA V had store hold ups, armoured van robberies, manipulating the stock market, rampages, and assassinations, GTA IV had car theft, drug runs and assassinations, so I don't know where this 'not enough criminal side missions' come from unless you include TLaD and TBoGT in your argument, which is not fair as your comparing 3 games to 1. And an overly scripted world, I don't know what your talking about there.

Anyway, variety and diversity in the open world is the series roots, even GTA 1 had vehicle variety, GTA IV took away the variety and diveristy in favour of storytelling.

You really need to chill out and stop taking things so much to heart. The funny thing is I never mentioned GTA IV in my post (nor did the guy you quoted).

In saying that I've always wanted to do yoga in a GTA game instead of stealing vehicles for cash or being a vigilante.:)

Taking things to heart am I? remember this. I know you didn't mention GTA IV in your post but since you are highly defensive of it, I thought it was worth mentioning, as for the post I quoted, well I saw that person say that their favourite GTA was IV before so it was worth mentioning (I don't care what game people prefer, everyone has their preference, but I do care about the way people act about it).

Anyway, I guess I would rather spend my days going out on dates with my fat cousin rather then messing around with a variety of vehicles and weaponry.

Well I don't need to bother doing stuff like drug-deliveries/deals, hunting and stealing vehicles for cash, police database vigilante, and calling armed gang members for back up. That's all just boring.

After all, I can do other stuff that's much better, more fun and exciting, like yoga, triathlon, towing cars, and explorable exteriors.

It's better than being a pizza delivery boy or a dancer.

San Andreas and Vice City were fantastic indeed, but you ruined any credibility you had with the first sentence...in MY OPINION GTA V is the best

My favorite feauture in V is not being able to enter my $20,000,000 cinema i bought. I also like explorable exteriors. My favorite exterior to explore is Bahama Mamas West. It's so explorable

Tell me redx, how old are you? I'd simply be interested in what stage of learning your first words you were at when I first played GTA1 & 2 back in Jan '00.

Oh, and I think V is the best GTA to date.

I also played GTA I in the early 2000's but never got into the game. III is what I felt was the start of the GTA franchises. San Andreas was just the climax of it and now everything after that is just plain getting worst.

The real fans know what's wrong with GTA V. You can improve everything but break the core gameplay than it will never surpass its older games.

GTA V - Feels more saints rowish than it does GTA.

Well my first introduction to this franchise was, as said, back in Jan '00 with GTA 1&2, of which my friend had given me a shot of. I then proceeded to purchase my first ever Playstation solely for those games. Since, I have been there for, and purchased every GTA except Chinatown Wars- purchasing my first PS2 for III, and my first PS3 for IV in the process.

So convince me dear child: in what way do my feelings that V is the best in the series contribute to me being excluded from this "real fan" group?

Oh, and by your rather questionable logic, you qualify as the "non real fan", given you're not keen on the top down games, but like III despite it completely revamping the way we played GTA.

Hopefully this has been a little lesson for you, kiddo.

Lol real fans appreciate what Rockstar does and what GTA is about, and respecting other people's opinions, encouraging Rockstar to develop each game with more content and making it better without putting pressure on them, not being ignorant and showing your stupidity on a gaming forum and verbally attacking other people.

So by your logic redx, you aren't even a real fan. You're basically a plastic follower like certain football fans.

Yep.

So many fans gave up on GTA V and are counting down the days to Watch Dogs.

You know, you have the same traits as our favourite troll, Official General. Both of you think this "many fans" equates to the majority of fans, and you're both very, very misinformed.

God, I must bored be this evening. F*ck it...I'm going to play some GTA V.

Later, kiddies.

Writing "kid" and "kiddo" and "kiddies" every 5 words in your post does not make you sound cool. It makes you sound like a smug douchebag.

For the record, everyone is different. Some fans are gonna like the older games more, and some will like the newer games. It's as simple as that.

@SonOfLiberty and nobum62: There were no nightclubs in GTA IV either, they had them in TBoGT, but not in GTA IV.

Night life isn't just night clubs.

I included those labels simply to highlight and emphasise the irony of redx167 (a kid himself IIRC) calling others 'kids', not because I want to look "cool"- whatever the f*ck that means these days...

Anyway, when did you develop such moral values, Zee?

For the record, everyone is different. Some fans are gonna like the older games more, and some will like the newer games. It's as simple as that.

I agree wholeheartedly, which is why I don't log in to this forum day after day with the same recycled "contributions" in a pathetic attempt to change others opinions; like certain other members around here do.
