Misbegotten cad
Gaming magazines used to be a big thing in the good old days. Newsagents used to have rows and rows of gaming mags, such as Atari User, Edge, Ace and Zzap64 on their shelves. These days, many mags have quit, and as many have moved to internet... So, how about it? Do you still read actual and physical gaming mags? And if you do, what sort of mags are they??? All comments welcome!
Kiffster
Of course I do! I've been reading a local magazine called NAG (New Age Gaming) since April 2003, and I won't stop buying them for as long as they're around. It's my bible lol. The first issue was published in 1998 and it's the leading South African gaming magazine. Every issue comes with a free dvd which contains everything from demos, trailers, free games, utilities, wallpapers, cheats, drivers etc etc. I still have every issue (April 2003 - April 2014. Can't seem to throw them away ). Here they are: Edited April 7, 2014 by W2B Shane_Dbns, Kalvin, Jc_39a and 3 others
Rewas
I don't think my city even has gaming magazines anymore, or at least I don't see them in stores near my home. Even though, I usually read gaming articles on the internet, I rarely trust them, since you know.. it's the internet.
Fireman
I do, but only old ones, I'm so freaking retro! I got a bunch of PC Gameplays back here, it's the best Dutch gaming magazine. Power Unlimited is f*cking awful.
Th3MaN1
We've had a magazine in Romania called "LEVEL", but the whole thing was canceled just a few months ago, because the stupid people who published the magazine decided to publish 3 other kinds of magazines, and they ended up bankrupt. The magazine was okay when it came to game reviews and such, but overall, it was a really interesting read.
Theodore93
I buy the occasional issue of Edge or GamesTM but only if features articles on games I'm interested in. I prefer multiformat magazines to avoid all the fanboy bullsh*t. I still get most of my gaming news online, but I actually find I take things in better when I read from physical things as I usually just skim or read the first couple of paragraphs of an online article. Also, if I've actually spent money on a magazine, I'm reading that motherf*cker cover to cover and therefore I often learn things I wouldn't have otherwise bothered reading about. I do, but only old ones, I'm so freaking retro! I got a bunch of PC Gameplays back here, it's the best Dutch gaming magazine. Power Unlimited is f*cking awful. I've got big stack of different Amiga magazines in my bedroom cupboard that my dad bought in the early to mid 90's. I love skimming through them from time to time for a nostalgia fix. I never bought magazines much when I was younger but I still have the 50th issue of Play which I bought in the summer of '99. I've read it so much it's fallen apart and is held together with tape. ( those were funny ) but yeah back with ps1 and ps2 i used to get them.

gtamann123
I receive GI each month since its only like $15 per year or something like that. I flip through it and read some articles but I really don't look to in depth at it anymore. Edited April 7, 2014 by gtamann123

Mr Oraange
Used to buy the Playstation Official one every once in a while. Then they shut it down. Kotaku is my new friend.
Hodgey.
I haven't read a gaming magazine for a few years now. I used to love going to the Post Office to pick up the latest copy but I just read all the information I need online now.
Zee
After GI f*cked around on us and promised so many times to have a cover story in GTA5 and did not deliver I'm never buying another gaming magazine ever again. I hope GI goes out of business.
Shenmue18
I used to until about a year or two ago. Now I just don't really keep up with any gaming news at all. Sometimes friends will tell me about new games that are coming out, but generally I just wait until I see an ad for a new game or notice one at Walmart or Gamestop and if it looks fun, I'll buy it. t3h PeNgU1N oF d00m
Used to use Game Informer up until a few years ago. Now if I want to know anything, I can just Google it or find a game news site.
Misbegotten cad
I started reading gaming mags at the age of 12 or so, with zzap64 and CVG. Most recent have been official xbox360 magazine, but sadly the local newsagents no longer have it, or any other foreign mag either. There are still some local (Finnish) gaming mags around, but as they are paid adverts more than anything, they are not worth reading. I also collect old gaming mags from the 80's and 90's and read them quite a lot, for a spot of nostalgia.
tuareg
I used to back in the days of dial-up internet, but not anymore. I have zero use for them. They're also stupidly expensive where i live.
Misbegotten cad
Anyone remember demo discs?!? the best thing about those old british gaming mags was they had demo discs/diskettes/casettes on the cover. I still have piles of demo discs from the official playstation mag and the PC GAmER, and diskettes from old amiga mags. And, best of all, demo casettes from old commodore mags!! Sadly, these days game demos have moved to internet, even on console mags...
Fireman
I bought some demo discs for certain games later on. One demo disc with Carmageddon I and one demo disc with Carmageddon 2, both from PC Gameplay. Also still have a few demo discs from PSX, but I think they came free withthe PSX. Kiffster
We still get discs with every issue of the mag I showed above (and I still have all those discs) with game demos on them, although demos for big games are quite rare these days. Most of the demos are for crappy games and I honestly can't remember the last time I played a demo. Anyway, the content on the discs nowadays are dominated by game trailers (usually close to- or sometimes much more than 100), but there are also free games, drivers, wallpapers, digital mags, music and a few select utilities to name a few. In the past they also included loads of mods for games such as Oblivion (there's one disc with about 100 mods I think), patches etc. This is my favourite disc of all time, simply because I lost my copy of GTA2 years earlier lol: Edited April 9, 2014 by W2B Misbegotten cad
Norsea
I read the Game Informer mags if I see something interesting, other than that I don't read too many magazines. I usually find my news online. Here's my small collection. Can't find the others Edited April 9, 2014 by Antagonista
a20characterusername
I get Game Informer delivered to my place because I get that rewards card from GameStop. I'll usually skim through it just for the hell of it. Used to get...Electronic Gaming Monthly i think it was called, back in the late 90s, then it changed formats and tried copying Maxim and it got really awkward. DeafMetal
I used to read Gameinformer. It unfortunately declined in quality over the years, but still subscribed to it for nostalgia's sake. I stopped subscribing after I, an 8-year member, was banned from the site for having a different opinion than the staff.
