How to avoid Gta 5 Online freezing

Bottom line is something went wrong during the 1.11 update and no one knows what it is including rock-star nor do they really care sitting on a giant heap of money ignoring the various different players experiencing Freezes since 1.11

i have tried every possible fix and none of them work, last time i'm gonna say this not your ps3 its the update,

"HOWERVER"i found a way that i can still make loads of money online while avoiding all open session lobby's

First thing you need to do is go into story mode then make an invite only session from there you can go to the start menu, jobs, rock-star created i always pick roof top rumble for the highest payout. But the cool thing about invite only session is when you leave the job and go back into free roam it puts you back into your own invite only free roam session, right now this is the only way i can play gta 5 online without freezes which leaves me to believe that it might be other peoples connections or items freezing other people in the session.

i have made almost a mill in the last week using this method, trying to save up for the new cars/houses coming out in the next update hopefully they fix the freezing issue to, if not looks like ill be doing allot more invite only sessions.

This is not a fix, just a way to "Avoid" the constant freezes if your experiencing them.

Inv-only is not a fix.Its isolation. if you invite 10 friends you will still freeze

If we have to play alone in an online game to avoid freezing why do we even play this game?

Good observation. :^: Online is safe as long as you play alone :p Yay, bold new direction!

A Parked Car

Rather than going to start > online etc. just hold down on the d-pad and select your online character. Next, once online has loaded press start and go across to the unlocks section, click A and exit the pause screen. Finally your going to want to hold down on the d-pad for about 2 seconds or so and let go.

Just do this every time you go online and you should be good to go.

I know it won't do anything to help with the freezing but it's always good to have some sort of a routine.

I've frozen my PS3 4 times in 1.5 hours, got over 10 errors and timed out crap, and so have my friends. This is really getting out of hand if you ask me.

PS i have found out if i call the mechanic for a car, and hold X, it lags me and others out, Same with a mugger.

When i came out of the shop when some asshat tried to kill me. i went straight to passive mode and when i came out i froze. i still heard the music playing till it ended and didn't hear it again but i was still hearing the start of the guys engine when i went outside. maybe thats what froze me. Sound issue.

I knew that f*cking asshole had something to do with it. Occasionally now when I call for a vehicle I get a massive frame rate drop as if the car cant find somewhere to spawn. It continues until Johnny on the spot rings me. They should have just left the poor guy alone.

tl:dr

>1.11 update causes freezes

>solution - don't do free roam with other players

- grind rooftop rumble

>there is no solution

The absolute worst time is when you're in the Creator and you lose an hours worth of work... Nothing else can compare to it, believe me.

I keep getting stuck at the launching session message when a job is supposed to start. Its forcing me to just stay in freemode but ill take it over what others are reporting with constant freezes. Anyone else having this problem?

That's brutal so far i haven't had any freezing issues with invite only session yet and for that i am grateful, i also have lots of friends on gta that play missions with me so i never really feel like i'm playing alone.

Embrace the new genre: MSORPG (massively singleplayer online role-playing game).

rock-star nor do they really care sitting on a giant heap of money ignoring the various different players experiencing Freezes since 1.11

Rockstar didn't get a single cent of that sales revenue. That all went to Take-Two.

R* gets paid for their work on the game regardless of the success/fail rate of V.

Really tired of people kids saying that R* is swimming in cash Scrooge McDuck style.

That said. Invite Only sessions seem to crash much less than public sessions, true. but then again, I'm one of the lucky ones who have only crashed less than 3 times my entire play-time.

R* really needs to install an auto-save in the creator so your project automatically saves itself after 3 minutes or so, So if you happen to freeze you won't loose all of your work.

Never said it was a fix i clearly stated that its to avoid freezing if you cant stand it like myself, Also 90% of the time when im playing gta im busy doing races or missions with friends so im never really isolated. I don't play much free roam anyways with free roam all people do is go around blowing up other peoples cars and killing them if you wanna lose gta dollars and freeze all the time feel free to play free roam lol. :D

or perhaps you would enjoy joining a free roam session to take a lovely stroll into your into your hard earned 10 car garage only to find a 12 yr old kid on with a microphone camping in the corner of your garage shooting you in the face with a shotgun every-time u try to get a car <----another reason free-roam sucks arse. :facedesk:

P.s Sorry for the double post still getting use to this forum.

This works for me. From sp choose online thru the start menu. Invite only. Once in do nothing except walk around for a few mins. Then do a mission on your own. At the vote screen click B to quit. Go back to invite only free roam on your own and repeat. Once I do that a few times public sessions go fine.

That seems to work for me. May not be your solution but if it works for one other person then that's great. Any other way of going online seems to either cause time out, network error, slow loading graphics or mini freezes. So far my method seems to work for me. I know it's not my internet as it's 100mbps and it shows as 4 bar signal strength on the xbox.

I actually think you have the right idea. It has something to do with sound changed or added in the last patch. Every single time I have frozen there has been some noticeable and loud sound bite that occurs the moment of the freeze. Whether it be an engine backfire during a race, explosion from sticky, tank or RPG, pedestrian yelling in my ear, it always seems to be something sudden. I have had freeze happen in pub session, private session, deathmatch, race, playlist, apartment everywhere. Last one I was in a private session standing still on a street corner digging through a playlist menu. Some NPC standing very close just began to say a word...all I heard was "O" and instant freeze.
