For me it's doing several missions with a total stranger in total silence, then having him turn on his mic and praise me for how resourceful I was during all the missions. That's how you get respect in my family, by being useful and resourceful;so, for me, that was the highest compliment anyone could give me.

Today I bought the buzzard and started flying it around and killing anyone who wasn't in a personal vehicle. I killed this one guy and someone near him twice and flew off searching for others, and after a minute he sent me message. I expected it to be hate so I ignored until I died. When I read it I was surprised to see that he said "You seem like a person who would deserve to be part of my team of elites congratulations !!! You are now part of the BH crew of elites." It was weird to find someone complimenting me rather than sending hate mail. I wanted to give him a ride but it seemed that he left or joined a mission before I could do anything.

Few minutes later he sends me a message asking to join his crew. I responded with a simple "why" and he send me "I recon you're good"

When my friends team up on me on a death match. Or "Yes, I'm on Cali's team". My favorite is during death match in game chat. Normally only the team can communicate, but when some one gets killed both the killer and the victim can briefly hear each other. And nothing brings joy to my heart then repeatedly hearing "Cali!" (or variants of) from my friends and randoms.

Beating someone so bad in a race that they call me a: Hacker, cheater or my personal favorite, and i quote "you lost"*

 

*this happened after a guy ran me off a cliff at the beginning of a race. I was put back to last place, which was 7th or 8th, and 20 seconds back(because i had to respawn). I ended up passing him on the 3rd to last turn and won by about 7 seconds over the guy who shoved me off the cliff. He sent that message immediately after the race... My reply was "Ha, and you were the guy who rammed me off the road at the beginning.. learn to race".

 

That made my day.

I've come across some surprisingly nice people online.

 

After going 6-0 then 9-0 in a deathmatch, one guy messaged me "nice sniping man", thought that was pretty cool of him.

 

Today I got into an extended bounty chase with some guy with Chris in his name, ended with me in a buzzard following him down that long motorway into the countryside. When I finally nailed him near the top of the map with a perfectly timed rocket from miles above, he sent me "GG" on XBL. Never had that before but I assumed it meant "good game", sent him a text saying "wait there" and gave him a lift back to town, where we landed on a roof and started taking people out below. Good sport that guy.
