Jc_39a
3500 calories = 1 pound 14 pounds = 1 stone  Say in the morning I didn't eat anything and loss 1000 calories doing exercise, and I eat 2000 calories, how much calories does this mean I have loss? gtamann123
You would be at positive 1000 calories. But you are constantly burning calories throughout the day. And even when you sleep. The key to losing weight is regulating and watching your caloric intake and exercising to burn calories
Adam Jensen
It's not all about the calories. What you eat is equally important. Â You should eat in the morning and exercise after breakfast. Skip dinner, or eat a fruit. Eat 5 smaller meals a day instead of 3 bigger ones and never after 7pm. Lose junk food, sodas and processed meat. Whole grains are your friends. Beans are also very healthy. Google that sh*t. Try to cut on potatoes and white bread as much as possible. Definitely don't eat fries. Green tea with ginger does wonders for weight loss. Drink lots of it. It won't be easy, but good things never are. To be honest, during the first two months it will be excruciating. But it is worth it in the end. Just gotta keep your eyes on the prize as they say. Â Good luck. Edited April 6, 2014 by The Yokel CatDog96

Otter
I definitely bring this up far too often but calories in/calories out is only good as a guideline rule-of-thumb. It's in no way precise, reliable, or worth basing your diet around. There are far better metrics and guidelines that Gronf (yokel) touched upon. gtamann123
Yeah as said before its also important to eat small snacks throughout the day to keep your metabolism going. Just starving yourself does nothing and causes your body to hold on to fat even more. Graven

Adam Jensen
any advices? Yes. Follow my first advice on what to eat. Other than that just hit the gym, dude. Or find a good strength and muscle building exercise program on YouTube and follow that. Mr. Scratch
Mr. Scratch
^This, build some muscle instead of trying to get your abs to show, keeping your body fat low enough for it can be pretty bad. And you might end up becoming REALLY underweight if you follow that kind of weight loss routine. Edited April 6, 2014 by Mr Scratch
Otter
A few things to chew on - you're 15, so you're not anywhere close to being finished growing. This is HUGE when it comes to your diet. If you start doing something stupid like limiting your diet now, you're gonna limit your potential. Â So eat what you like, try to avoid sugar and caffeine, and get a lot of exercise. So simple when you're that age; you'll heal from everything practically overnight. Abel. and Graven

K^2
You can get calories from fat, carbs, and proteins. But they are not all the same kind of calories. They take completely different pathways to become glucose or energy that your body uses. Excess glucose can then be converted into glycogen or fat for storage. Â What's interesting about calories from proteins is the first step of catabolizing proteins is breaking them down into amino acids. These will be used to build proteins your body need, or they can be broken down to give you extra energy. But even that can be done via two different cycles. One produces glucose, the other does not, but rather gives you energy directly. Â On the other hand, carbs and fat become glucose first. So if you have excess calories from these, the only place they can go is into fat. Â This leads to a fairly natural idea of planning your diet. If you want to build your muscles, you have to take in excess calories. But if you don't want these to turn into fat, your best bet is to go a bit lean on calories you get from fat and starch, and supplement your protein intake. Combining that with good exercise regimen will discourage fat buildup and encourage muscle growth. Â All of this is a bit simplified, and you can probably get much better advice on precisely how much of each group you should be taking in, what sort of proteins you should focus on, which foods have all of that, etc. from somebody who does diet stuff for a living. And if you are serious about it, you probably should consult an expert.

Graven
You should not try losing weight at that age, unless You are really fat. Skipping meals is a bad idea, if You eat like horse on your next meal. It makes things only worse. Eat more healthy smaller meals to keep your blood sugars stable and metabolism working. There are no tricks to get fit. You have to change your life style permanently.  Take it cool, You´re still young.
