Canis Kalahari Appreciation Thread

Recommended Posts

I do quite a bit of off-roading but I've always dismissed the Kalahari as it looks like it has minimal off-roading potential.

It'll be no good with regards to clearance unlike the Patriot, Sandking, Mesa or Duneloade but for the relatively smooth stuff, I might give it a go.

Vaguely looks like a Volkswagen Type 181 "Thing."

I've got mine in an approximation of Acapulco Orange with Half Moon hub caps wheels. Wish I could store the non-side/top-only variant online as it looks even more Thingish.

Quick to get to its top speed, which is slow; it'll bounce along on and off road, take a good tumble, and climb anything in its way. It won't, however, win races.

It was the first thing to go into my extended garage space.

I recently got a topless one and I have to say it's one of my favourite cars. Looks dumb but it's fairly quick, handles really well and climbs better than expected.

No photos sadly, I'll have to snap some.

Edit: I do have a video of me getting stuck in a tree with it though!

That little bathtub is good. This thread reminds me I need to buy another. Sold my topless one for Rebel space over a month ago.

Unfortunately the only pic I have of my old one is from when I was rep'n that fufu lame Snap Art crew. 9 months of loyalty and sharing my techniques and ideas with and they run with them and shove my face in sh*t. But I digress. I just hate that crew. Here it is.

If you buy a topless one, can you put the roof on now after the recent update?

No unless its just me... I prefer it topless anyway

I wanted the Canopy, and was wondering if it was a addable option. Guess not. Oh well.

I love this car. I tested it in SP on a whim and after taking it to Chiliad I realised I had to own one. It looks ridiculous frankly, like it was cobbled together from bits found in a shed, including the corrugated metal of the shed itself, but at the same time it's oddball looks give it a huge amount of charm.

It's off road that it really shines. It seems to have an ability to dig deep and find traction when bigger and more powerful vehicles cannot. Its low centre of gravity means it doesn't flip over easily unlike almost all other off roaders and when it does go it seems like it always lands on its wheels, it's like a cat, or a mountain goat, which is probably the most accurate way to describe it.

I have the open top version and before I drive it I like to open both doors and snap them off on something, just to increase the feeling of connection with my surroundings. Love it.

My wife got a topless one for her character and I love it. the slide control when using R1 on turns is uncanny. Nothing like hopping in this ride, putting on the bullet proof helmet and whizzing around LS.

I wish I also had a wife that would get topless when playing gta.

I'm trying to get one of these with a roof but open sides like this:

25416248031_ea9b150eb4_o.jpg

I've bought at least 20 in a row now and every single one has had the full, closed roof.

I know things like this used to be randomly selected, but I'm starting to wonder if it's even possible to get one like that anymore...

Is it possible that when they added the topless version to the website, they accidentally locked the roofed version to just the one variant instead of two like it was originally?

They need to add a swappable roof category for this in LSC shops.

Pretty sure it's the ONLY "premium" car in the game where they forgot to do this.

Is there a way to buy the Kahalari with a roof-top ? All those i bought were topless...

Buy the one that is called "Canis Kalahari" instead of "Canis Kalahari Topless". Then die of shame.

Both versions are on Southern San Andreas under Off Road.
