Problem Installing

Greetings

I have a somewhat frustrating problem with GTA:San Andreas. This problem is NOT with running the game -- it's with installing the game. I can't even get 5 seconds into the installation process. I will detail my experiences below.

When I click setup.exe (or, when I click "Install Game" from within the AutoPlay demoshield launcher), I select what language to use for the installation (English), and the InstallShield loading progress bar appears. Immediately when the progress bar finishes, a maximized window appears for a fraction of a second with some kind of graphic with a woman on it and immediately crashes/disappears.

I repeat that this phenomenon occurs regardless of whether I'm using setup.exe or the "Install this game" menu item. No change.

I've reinstalled the latest versions of my video and sound drivers. No change.

I've changed resolutions/color depths and tried different combinations of enabling/disabling my second monitor. No change.

I've attempted to copy all of the setup files from the DVD onto the hard drive and running setup from there. No change.

I've attempted to use a different DVD drive. No change.

I've tested my memory and everything is fine. Other games install without any problems.

Is this a known issue? What can I do?

Thanks for any help

The screen with the woman is a pre-game loading screen, so I would surmise that the game is trying to play.

What you didn't mention is:

Does the machine have the guts to play the game. The usual hardware failure is the lack of dedicated memory ON the video graphics card.

Also, the Windows 8 operating system doesn't like this game:

Recommended System Requirements:

Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon XP processor (or better)

 384(+) MB of RAM

 16x DVD-ROM drive

 4.7 GB of free Hard Disk space for a full install

 128(+) MB Video Card with DirectX 9 compatible drivers ("GeForce4" or better)

 DirectX 9 compatible Surround Sound Card

 Game pad** with twin axis analog controls (USB or Joystick Port)

 Keyboard & Mouse

Get by with Minimum System Requirements

• 1GHz Intel Pentium III or AMD Athlon Processor

• 256MB of RAM

• 8x DVD-ROM Drive

• 3.6 GB of free Hard Disk space for a minimal install

• DirectX 9 compatible Stereo Sound Card

• 64MB Video Card with DirectX 9 compatible drivers ("GeForce3" or better)

• DirectX 9 compatible Stereo Sound Card

and a Keyboard & Mouse

Try running in 'XP' (sp3) Mode, if you have trouble with the mouse then try "Win98" mode.

Don't try to run it from a Flash Drive or External Drive as they are usually too slow.

Install into the C:/ (default) Drive.

One last thing: Is the game allowed by Adminsitrator (Child Protection Setting)?

Yes my PC can run the game fine that's not a problem.

When I run the "setup.exe" a picture of a guy wearing a green bandana holding a gun pops up and then like a second after it just disappears so I can't install the game.

Yeah.

I tried everything and nothing seems to work.
