GTA V: Lost love for the Micro SMG/Uzi?

Does anyone really bother with the Micro SMG?

V has a large selection of guns, especially in the SMG slot, and this classic side arm seems to get, well, side-armed in the face of the competition.

In that same slot, you've got the SMG -- another that feels sort of shunned, though more understandably, because it doesn't have quite the punch the MP5 had in GTA IV.

Then there's the Assault SMG -- provided "exclusively" to Social Club members, which is hardly a thin class of people. If you're not in the Social Club, you're in the minority. I see this gun a lot in multiplayer and have found that it feels fitting in certain story mode situations, particularly when the crew is pulling favors for the FIB.

Though they aren't SMG's, the light machine gun class shares the slot. So, if you're looking for something with a high fire rate, and you're the push of a button away from upgrading from an Uzi to a Combat MG, what's stopping you from going with the latter in every situation?

Lest I forget the AP Pistol, which puts all three SMG's to shame, especially when firing from a vehicle.

The Micro SMG has lost a lot of steam. A few weeks ago, I finished playing Max Payne 3 for the first time and through that experience used not one but two versions of this gun almost exclusively. When I went back to playing V, I noticed the Uzi sitting there, unused, unhelpful and inferior to my other options and couldn't help but to ask, "What the hell happened?"

Do/did you use the Micro SMG a lot in V? Do you miss the novelty of firing 800 rounds per minute from a gun that finds its way into every 'hood-themed movie or game? I believe that it'd be a much more popular choice had dual-wielding made a return to gun combat in this entry.

I don't really use it in SP, as I have all firearms, and I don't like SMGs, anyway.

Of course I do, it's the best weapon that a driver can use to drive-by. More people use it than not, I bet.

I believe it's my Franklin's most used gun. I always bust it out in the hood when I'm doing some set tripping.

I use it for the novelty more than anything though. It's not a very good gun. Wildly inaccurate.

I miss the IV days when MP5s and Uzis were both equally useful and it depended on your taste.

Uzi had higher rate of fire and mag size, and MP5 had more accuracy and damage. Both were equally useful in vehicle combat.

Not in V. In V just grab an advanced rifle and AP pistol and you'll never use anything else again.

I enjoy it since I'm not concerned with killing people. I just need to supress and break contact it works well for that

Looks more like an MP7 from a distance in GTA V..They Dropped on the Uzi, big time. I remember it as a key weapon in past GTA's.

I use both the Micro SMG and SMG.

I love the Micro SMG (with silencer and extended mag). Firing from the hip, that's badass. I used it in the Assassination Missions. Made Frank seem like a cold blood hired gun.

As for the SMG, well, the MP5 is my favourite gun, so I use it all the time. The difference between guns is meh. Sure, the AP is better, but it's not THAT superior. I use the least used guns usually and I do just fine.

I would say something like "This is so stupid this is a thread?" But ya I kind of agree. Though tbh, I like having it out mostly because it looks badass.

It's not the most significant topic of discussion, but it's better than beating the same points home over and over and over again. Might as well narrow the focus a bit, right?

I love it, I love the fact that it has two versions which consist of the fold stocked and unstocked. With the fold unstocked you get greater accuracity but with the unstocked version if you just want to spread out bullets. To me it also feels appropiate when doing a drive-by with it.

Also the MP5, it feels so good when tearing through a cop's head on a survival match with it.

I miss the one from gta 4 nothing better than having a car filled with guys and everyone spraying and praying with that 50 shot killing machine

Bingo. Once you get the AP Pistol in online, you may as well perma-drop all UZI's from then on. Hell, I don't even carry any pistol besides the AP Pistol, and never carry an UZI so that my "automatic 1 hander for cars" IS the AP Pistol. Higher magazine capacity, better damage, f*ck there's no reason whatsoever to use the UZI save for vanity.

Honestly, I just used the Micro SMG until I got something better. Now if I NEED an SMG for something, I use the Assault SMG, I enjoy that gun. I also use the Special Carbine and AP Pistol. I'm looking forward to getting the Advanced Rifle. I used it a bit when I got it from Survival, and I loved it.

The Micro SMG was good, but it's not great. It's nothing compared to the other guns in the game. Carbines, Assault rifles, Combat MG, AP Pistol. It's a decent early gun, but once you unlock something better, it's not worth keeping.

I wish it had twice the fire rate. (1200 RPM and not 600 RPM)

Then I'd make it gold. BALLAD OF GAY TONY UZI.

I dont use it mainly because i hate how the protags hold it with both hands. What the f*ck, it is a machine pistol, not a f*cking rifle that carryies that much of a buck that NEEDS to be firmly hold.. Micro uzis are meant to be used as pistols, one handed only, like previous gtas.

I am kind of thinking that AP Pistol should be gone from future GTA Games... I like it, its my fav in GTA V, but its getting a little to out of hand or however you wanna call it. Everyone says its the best drive by gun, wich it is, and everyone says its superior than the UZI In or out of car. It feels like the AP Pistol is Over powered. IMO ofc. But yeah. Maybe a 3 round burst pistol? Would be unrealistic, but could work.

I would like to broaden this a little and say I don't exactly like how the weapons became terribly unbalanced in V. From what I understand there should be no useless weapons and every of them should have their uses. To make it more imaginary let's look at pistols: Glock 22 (fast, big magazine, weak), Colt .45 (slower, smaller magazine, stronger), Colt Python (slow, 6 bullets, strong as a bull). Every weapon can find their fans and has its uses in the right hands. Such system was working in older GTAs along with the one weapon at a time (which was quite cool, adding somewhat of a tactics there), but it's completely broken in GTA V. Advanced Rifle leaves the Assault Rifle in the dust and nobody will be using any pistol than AP, because it's even better than SMGs. I would prefer smaller number of more balanced weapons. It's GTA after all, when gun is just one of the tools to get job done, not some Battlefield.

i like it, but ill tell you what gta ivhad the best uzi ive ever used on a game, i mean that thing was a monster. i would actually switch around between the equally badass mp5. the mp5 had an awesome sound that beats gta v all the way around. shotguns in gta v beat gta 4's. assault rifles should be louder in gta v, like they sould be on "heat" level. the only game that got gun sound loudness and echos right is red dead redemption, max payne had good sounds but i wish they were louder. the uzi and the gold one had this piercing and loud sound ingta 4 that i f*cking loved and miss dearly

im not saying that i am capable of hip firering ANY gun, since i luckly never had to touch any guns in my life. bank robbers and cops surely have more experience with shooting than i do and could easily handle the buck, in case you dont understand the essence of my posting. did you actually seen the way they are holding it? people often shoot pistols with both hands, and it surely doesnt look like that.. for a machine pistol, it should be hold the same way pistols are.

EDIT: in previous gtas some protags hold it one hand only. dont be a dumb to say experienced shooters cant handle that my friend..

No professional would ever one hand an automatic weapon because the accuracy would suffer immensely and it would be straight up dangerous for the operator
