I was one of them GTA5 Aboriginals who followed every snippit of info etc,I preordered the game months earlier,i was SO f*cking Hyped and i got the game on Sept 17 (launch day) ,7 months on i love the game infact as most people know i am a V fanboy (and the only few V fans on the forum) everything shown in the Gameplay Trailer was what we got and i didnt raise my Hype to 100% and the game still exceeds it (although some people dont think so and hates the game) The Graphics etc in V is Superb...But Damn my Day one Copy of GTA 5 stopped working last week due to my XB360 fault :( but hopefully i will try get a new copy before the Story DLC is released later this year :) imo V worth all the wait, and it on my top 10 games of all time (#1) :) if V could do wonders on old hardwares i am fricking excited for the Next-Generation installments of this Legendary Franchise (GTA) :)

You must not play many games if its your #1 also you are a Fanboy of GTA V not a Fan. Because i'm a fan of GTA V but I can also criticize it and R* for what is wrong with it and where there were straight up lies.

I'd much rather go back to November 2011, when we all thought the game was going to look like this.

By 2013, we already knew the graphics were downgraded, the map not nearly as great as we hoped, and the story wasn't looking too bright either.

The first trailer didnt look so good if you watched closely. The lightning was amazing, the textures, models were pretty awful. The map was also pretty small if you look at it.

Trailer 1 was the best game ever made, models aren't that good now either, if you look closely to the protagonists face and some clothes textures, they're pretty regular, but I understand that, being a sandobx game. And the map wasn't small, the hell are you talking about? It actually looked bigger in some shots.

To be fair, the Hype for almost any popular game, is more fun than the game itself. With a game as popular as GTA, you end up with people trying to figure things out from videos, guessing at what's to come, putting together little bits of news to find things out earlier. Hype is always fun.

In my case though, I'm one of the people that enjoys this game a ton. I'm not saying it's the best thing ever released, but I have tons of fun playing it. It's my favorite GTA along side GTA3.

I actually wasn't around much before GTAV came out, so I didn't get much of the Hype around forums and stuff. I was still having fun with Skyrim and Fallout. I only got interested in it a few weeks before it came out. But I've seen some of the forum stuff that was going on before the release, and it looked like fun. lol

It was a fun time back then. I remember hoping there was a significant part of the map they hadn't revealed yet since they said they were holding a lot back. It was disappointing finding out there weren't any map surprises. The entire map was pretty much known 5 months before release. North Yankton doesn't count since it's basically just an icy road with limited access.

I was curious about where this plane was going -

It was going nowhere. :/

That really pissed me off when the game released, that the trailer spoiled the Alamo sea area. I felt like they deleted a lot of the map because the really had some hype going in 2011 then it died down in 2013 (map size)

That magical sunny September, a week before GTA V was released all the video leaks were happening, everyone was excited hoping for the next San Andreas. Even though I haven't played the game yet as PC is far superior, I wish I was back there, with the illusion that a new San Andreas was coming.

It is definitely San Andreas 2, and beyond.

Go back 7 months so I have to wait an extra 7 months for a PC release? Damn son, you trippin'

Stop talking like there will be a pc version.

We'll see about that. I doubt Rockstar can be that retarded but I'm starting to think otherwise.

Yes, I actually somehow and sometimes kinda miss the old days before GTAV release. It was fun to talk there about GTAV, what's will be in, and what not... screenshot fun thread, mapping and so...

Waiting for the game... then I remember when on net was "leak of cutscenes audio" I told to myself I will not download it and listen it.. and I just did, I wanted a little bit.. and... and then.... damn, I heard everything.

Just can't help myself, I like these times.. :)

I am a GTA 5 fan! I love it! ahah :)

I love the GTA franchise and when they announced it i looked up everyday on the internet for more info till the day it come out and when it did i loved it!! my favorite game every and in my opinion the best GTA game till GTA VI (or whatever then next one is called). :D

Not at all, I really do not want to repeat these difficult times

I remember how I couldn't wait anymore, and I imagined what it would be like to play it

And I agree with @Blood-Is-in-Diamond, Too bad a lot of people vilify the game, and can not enjoy it

HOW'S ANNIE?

I much prefer to go back to November 2011- October 2012. Back then we knew nothing about the game, GTA V could have been anything we wanted and we wouldn't be wrong.

I completely agree. The best part of anything is the beginning or even before that. Just waiting. As much as it can suck, your imagination runs wild and you have the entire experience to look forward. The minute you get it, the excitement can only dwindle down. I would love to go back to September, because this is the most excited I have ever been for the release of a game. Even right now, I'm building a new computer and I know that waiting for the parts in the mail is really the best part. As soon as I get it and put it together, I'll have a few minutes of pure excitement and then it will slowly go down.

Isn't it sad to think that this game is just another GTA game now. Like you can just pick it up and play like its no big deal. We know everything there is to know. It's nothing shocking anymore. I would have never dreamed of this day before it came out.

I miss the hype so much, I would scoure the internet everyday looking for new videos...

And when the gameplay trailer came out, I think that was my greatest V moment, I couldn't believe my eyes how good it looked.

Back then I thought the three amigos would be running round LS robbing banks and earning the ALMIGHTY DOLLAR

I haven't played the game yet as PC is far superior

What does that have to do with playing GTA V? I'm playing GTA V, and I'm still hoping for a PC version.

Becaus it's unplayable on console. I have it on PS3 and I have played through the game once, thats it. My eyes cant take it anymore. And it's very empty since the consoles can't handle any pedestrians nor traffic. It's such a waste if it doesnt come to pc.

Well, considering R* didn't do their "annual port release", It might not be out for years due to GTA Online.

September 2013 for me was just disappointment at the lack of fun driving mechanics and decals, with the phillistines on the forum saying "no no we don't want decals, we want the very basic. interesting story? no,no, no... fun driving mechanics? no, no no no... varied multiplayer? no, no, please no."

And that mindset results in GTAV.

This is what my game looks like. What are you playing? The lighting in GTA V is outstanding.

Ah... I remember those sunny September days when all you had was a Start Menu to stare at :)

Lucky you've got the superior graphics, or that Start Menu would have let you down in September.

I remember back in the 90's when PC was the latest craze... how cute :)

From a modder's perspective and with an eye for detail...

GTAV absolutely DOES look like the trailers that were released. It will likely look even better on newer (less limited) consoles and on PC.

I wanted a lush forest somewhere on the map but I didn't get one because: Such terrain does not coincide with the predominantly desert-like island. That said, the Chiliad Mountain State Wilderness and Raton Canyon areas are still gorgeous. Modders have plenty of map area to build on in the future. As is, the overall diversity within the map is impressive. I love the underwater ocean experience and btw, MANY do enjoy it. The size of the map could have been bigger.

I wanted more interiors to visit and more mini games and leisure activities, not less. The animals should have had RDR quality. Oh well. Mods to do.

This game impresses me every time I play it. Some aspects could easily be improved or built on. No game is perfect and it's impossible to please everyone. More than any other GTA, R* listened to their fans and modding communities and tried to cram as much of their ideas in as possible. The devs put love into every detail and it shows.

That's something most don't talk about. Many game companies release games that have a sort of coldness and rigidity about them. Not so with R* titles. There's almost a warmth and flexibility to their environments. Even when things are drab, they feel alive. The marsh feels like a marsh. The wilderness feels like the wilderness. Etc.

After this, I'm very curious what's next.

Yeah definitly, it's a little bit off-Topic but anyway... I lost my both kidneys in February 2014. Since that month I'm in a hospital. My life has changed with the chronic kidney disease. My life is now on the hemodialysis.

I haven't finished GTAV :-(. The year 2013 was awesome. I miss the days...
