OMGosh! What a difference HDMI makes...!

I have been playing GTA5 on a HDMI forever. Didn't know we were in prehistory were people didn't play it on HD

FYI, not everyone can afford the best of the best.

Most logical people don't feel the need to have a 1000$ TV, with all the accessories. (Which surprisingly is like 80% of people.) When there are other debts to be taken care of.

Christ, the entitlement of the next generation is almost criminal...smh.

FYI. I'm not the next generation. I have bills to pay, I have other things as well, I got mine with a Smart TV which was on sale for like $800 or so. Think before you speak your mind.

Yes, because $200 is a huge difference. If I had $800 it would go toward bills, (utilities, medical, loans, etc.) and not a damn TV.

It doesn't matter if it's a huge difference, it's still $200 less. $200 that I can spend on other stuff.

You sir, or ma'am, have completely no idea what his point is do you?

Now correct me if I'm wrong but, when I set mine up when it was Liberty City, they said the best output quality setting is 720 - not 1080 (for the game).

Back then it was 1080i v 720p - both had merits under separate conditions.

Nobody debates that 1080p is now superior to both of those

You sir, or ma'am, have completely no idea what his point is do you?

Ma'am.

And why would he care about what I spend my money on?

If I buy a TV for $800. save $200 with it, then that is my problem. Isn't it?

If I have $800 and I spend it on a TV, instead of other stuff, then that is my problem as I can afford to buy one along with stuff I already paid off before getting it?

It's not about what you spend your money on. It's the attitude you came in here with. Acting snobby because some one just got HD and anybody that is anybody has been playing with HD "forever". His point (and he can correct me if I'm wrong). Is not everybody is "ballin" and can afford to drop money on a brand new TV. Some people are just lucky to have an XBox. And some people go "hey, there is more important things to spend money on then a f*ckin' TV".

I did not mean to come over as snobby. It was more meant as a joke. Maybe a bad one, I'll give you that, but it was certainly not meant to come over as snobby. (Hence the "Prehistory"-thing).

Aero Dynamo

I own this TV.

Sony Bravia HD [3D] TV. The Model is KDL-46W900A. It is hooked up to my Xbox 360 via HDMI Cable from day 1. And my Xbox is connected to my Yamaha YHT-196 Home Theatre System. So all in all i have a pretty good Setup here for gaming. Soon i might upgrade to an Xbox One. Also the picture is for representation purposes only. And yes, I dont want to boast but man, GTA V does look pretty awesome on the big screen with the HDMI cable. The difference is very clear and everything super clear and sharp and detailed.

I hear yah. I've since changed the setting.

How is it superior? Especially considering TV shows, most movies, and video games are made either in 720p/60 or 1080i/60?

Dude I bought a 42 inch and a ps3 just for GTA 4 back in the day. TV still going steong the ps3 though I'm on my third.

Knock on wood....knock,knock.....I still own one of the 1st one's (PS3 bulky bugger). I have a 40" tv - since changed the settings as said above. Look's great. I've had my 40" tv since IV Liberty City. Great times, mamny benders. Movies/sports/games all look great in HD and my cable provider had upgraded almost every channel. My wife really dig's Netflix.

Remember, just because something is the majority, doesn't mean that it is superior. It's actually usually the opposite in my experience. It's more likely far cheaper to produce things in 720p/1080i than it is to go all out and 1080p stuff. Hell, most "common" systems probably can't even handle 1080p stuff... It's really more of an elite luxury; you need a very expensive first world entertainment system to even get 1080p. Couple hundred dollar gaming console/computer/blu-ray system/etc, and a high end TV/whateverelseyouwatchthingson. Most people I know still have their like 80's/90's bubble analog TVs, and it took them YEARS to upgrade to the digital converter boxes when the analog signals were shut down. I only know of one person who has a "good" TV, and it's an old 03' Plasma TV.

@TheJasongallet - yap yap ... once you go HD you never go BACK

@Omnifarious - nice screen name LOL but on topic, yeah same here, most of my friends still using older tech/TV, only two of my friends has the newer one, even one has the 3D TV which is nice but I ain't running out to buy one anytime soon ;)

I guess what my point is, is that they are more likely producing in an inferior quality because of greed and their targeted consumer base; not because 720p/1080i is equal/superior to 1080p. Most common people can't even afford such devices, nor will the most common of people even have the knowledge/capacity to know the difference between them. There's a plethora of real world examples that I was going to site, but than I realized that I had made an entire paragraph before I was done; but I wanted to keep things short to begin with, so I removed all that excess bulk.

MrcTOtheJ - yeah I bet you're happy, if you saw what I put up with...you wouldn't go back :lol:

I bet I could guess, the biggest thing about old Tube TVS and modern games for me at least is that about after '07 all games were damn impossible to read, Mass Effect 2 was the worse, couldn't read the Codex for sh*t in that game lol.

Lets put it this way. Alcohol is superior to gasoline for internal combustion engines. It burns cleaner, can produce more power, etc, etc. But where are you going to fill up at? Every gas station has petroleum and but not alcohol. And in the case of 1080i vs 1080p it's a similar situation. If almost every media source is going to be in 1081i, then your TV is going to have to convert the signal into 1080p so your not getting true 1080p. Just like E85 is not alcohol.
