Pearlescent Paint Affecting Secondary Color

Deffpony

Recommended Posts

This is kind of a knit picking thread but I have never heard anyone else bring this up and I want to know your guys thoughts on it.

When painting a vehicle, if the primary color has a pearlescent color, that pearlescent accent also affects the secondary color. This makes it impossible to combine certain metallic colors with a black secondary color because the pearlescent just causes the black to appear like a darker version of the primary color.

Wouldnt it be nice to have the primary and secondary colors independant of eachother.

It's "nit picking".

Lol I actually went back and forth between the two spellings because I wasnt sure. I assumed it was knit as a reference to knitting. I'll leave it so other members can enjoy my ignorance :p

Nah, your interpretation is logical enough, though the phrase actually comes from the act of picking lice eggs from hair. I just thought it'd be funny to nit pick how someone used the phrase "nit pick". I meant nothing by it.

OT: Does using matte paint jobs have the same effect?

Yeah, it bugs me that you can't set two different pearlescents, but it can also make a cool color transition effect if you do it right, especially if you're looking for a sunny/tropical look

Yeah, it still shows.

I will say the only time I've noticed this effect is on vehicles with fender flares, the Sandking specifically.

I've seen this, usually I just go with matte black not Metallic so the colour doesn't "bleed" through. Annoying nonetheless.

So is this...

Thats the irony he is going for.

Matte is still affected. There are times when its a useful feature, but most times I just want the secondary color to be independent

Soran Is On

Why not just change the pearl to whatever you want.

Hover over metallic color

Go directly to change plate an switch

Go directly back to pearl and can change it for whatever pearl won't mess up your secondary.

No?

The pearl is a full body coat. Or at least that is my assumption for it's usage in GTA V, because it is only offered as a primary and not secondary as well.

Pearl affects the entire stuff, man.

Only way to make it the least obvious is Matte Ice White or Matte Frost White.

Pretty annoying, since it's not like I put the shiny doodad on my entire car, but whatever.

This is a genius post.

I always found the pearlescent glitch kinda annoying too, especially when it seems to stick so you can't start fresh with any other colour. On the other hand it can create some interesting results.

Thats only if the 2nd color is metallic, and not another one. Try some classic as the 2nd, and the pearl wont effect it

Nope... Unless it only affects metal, metallic, matte, chrome and crew
