PS3 and XBOX run on the same f*cking hardware, so it's not the console. And i have plenty of people on XBOX who freeze as well. I wish everyone would just realize that they both are the same inside and stop arguing over which one is better...

Well they're not the same inside at all, completely different architectures. But arguing over which is better is definitely silly, especially now that they're last-generation. And more to the point the crashes have been happening on both.

 

I play on 360 and ever since 1.11 have had the game lock up very frequently. Roughly once an hour, give or take, (on average 2-3 times per night of playing). Before 1.11 I'd get occasional lockups, but that update definitely made them way way more common.

 

However, about a week and a half ago I installed Disc 2 of the game onto a 16GB USB flash drive, mostly to get rid of the constant DVD drive noise, as well as to hopefully preserve the life of the drive. I have no idea if this is correlated or a coincidence, but I haven't had the game lock up a single time since. This included a period of playing 6 hours straight with my buddy on Tuesday night. Has anyone else tried this on either console, and if so what have been your experiences?

Not saying either console is better but I think the freezing problem with gtao is plaguing ps3 more than xbox

Not quite the same specs either, but definitely similar. In any case, I too am against pointless 'superiority arguments'. Btw, being on Xbox, I too have had moments where virtually everyone is thrown from the lobby.

Freezing maybe, but as an Xbox user, I, along with my friends, am bestowed with disconnects aplenty. Good thing is, I've never had more than one freeze a day while playing GTA:O.

 

Bottom line is, cloud servers usually suck major cojones compared to dedicated ones. Platform doesn't matter much.

Yeah constant freezes cant play at all f.ck! Now my PS3 has started to stop reading the disc after the freezes and making this strange disc eject like sound damn. Could it help if I buy/download the game from PSN store just thinking as I cant play and im the crew leader!?

No, dont ever download the GTA V digital copy from the PSN store! My friend has it, and it has SERIOUS pop-in issues! Heck, when he's driving in the his Entity XF, 95% of the time the world will be missing and there will be random, poor-quality textures everywhere...

 

My point is, don't buy it. It suffers from the lack of bandwidth the PS3's hard drive has, resulting in a lot of pop-ins The disc version can use the extra bandwidth by using the 8GB install and disc at the same time, so it doesnt have these issues.

OK thanks for the info. It really sucks its weekend and I cant even play:( Why its certain players who have it so bad as it seems my crew members can play just fine anyone know? New console maybe wonder if it would help? Im really getting desperate now:|

30 Days of play time here on my PS3, froze once in the first week of online launch. First gen of PS3 slim. Got a new Xbox around 3 months ago, have froze over 30 times on about 10 days playing, (had shoulder surgery and unable to do anything physically for like 2 months). It is clearly not 'plaguing PS3', I have had more friends tell me that they freeze on Xbox then on PS3.

 

Also the whole which console is better is complete bullsh*t. Coming from a person who owns both, they both are superior in their own ways. for example; PS3 has better online experience in my opinion because it is free, I guess I enjoy it more, and it also seems like games run smoother on it. Xbox has better party system and chat hand down, if PSN adopted cross game chat then PS3 would kill. But these are old-gen systems anyway. If were going to debate which is better, then talk about next-gen. PS4 is superior hardware wise, and spec wise. Xbox just had the kinect, which is useless in my opinion, and it costs more.
