Lets Discuss Tanks (again)

I don't think they're overpowered, I don't think they're too fast, I don't think their initial purchase fee is too high, I don't think their turrets turn too fast, nor do I think they need to be Sniper Proof (I've heard that, due to a recent patch it is no longer possible to snipe out a driver (clarification needed?)).

 

I do think though that their summoning fee is too low, and that there should be a timer before a replacement tank can be called in. I was in a game the other week where five people were driving around in tanks causing chaos for everyone else, three of them were together, and I'm pretty sure the other two were in a seperate team. I attempted to acquire my tank on two occasions, though against five I might as well had just quit out to a different server.

 

Even on passive mode, the team of three were hunting down and taking out people (one of them swapped out their tank for a fire engine so they could get the kill).

 

Regardless, I wish Rockstar would put a timer on the tank recal. I'm not talking a stupid length of time here. Car Sales renew what, every 48 minutes (a single day in game time), that would be a good place to start, no?

 

What would everyone else do with the tank, and the potential issues that surround tanks being used by, or avoided by players?

The only change I'd make to the tanks is to put a level requirement on them that is the same as the RPG (100, I think?), and allow you to take them out with two or three rockets. That would level the playing field enough to reduce the griefing.

Cool down time of the cannon need to raise to like 1 shot per 10 second, and the turning speed of the cannon should be much slower and not responsive.

Call me an idiot for this if you want - And I know many will - But every weapon and vehicle should be available from the start to any rank. The 15th first ranks or so are awful to play through: You barely have any weapons and extremely short ammo limits and therefore can't do anything to defend yourself against level 100+ players with tanks and RPG's, which attack more than often.

 

"But doesn't this mean newbie players would completely obliterate older ones?" - Obviously not, since older players supposedly have skill, and therefore don't need armament superiority to dominate.

5 tanks in one lobby, yeah I usually switch lobbies at the sight of one tank. Why bother.

The only issue I got with tanks is that they seem to take 6-7 RPGs before they explode, which is odd since IIRC, the story version was far weaker. Perhaps a simple switch could do?

I agree with the cooldown time, but tanks should not be nerfed what so ever. I do however think that what a tank offers now it should be worth alot more, 1.5mil no way! A tank is a multi million dollar project, but I know this is still just a game, I think tanks should be at least 3.5mil and I wouldn't mind paying for it either.

no , R* seems on purpousely boost the tank's health compared SP or just separate version of tank ( SP rhino & MP rhino ) . it's because the SP's durability considered overpowerable by just few aggressive cars accidentaly run over can easily defeat the tank so it's boosted allowing the tank survive last longer

What I like are the contradictions in the tank debate

Some folks say that it's unrealistic that a tank can survive a bunch of RPGs, or that they have unlimited ammo, then in the same breath cry about the removal of tank sniping.

Um, that's actually the point. They patch one aspect because of realism, but leave the other alone. It's unbalanced.

Tank sniping was a glitch.

 

Tank ammo, damage resistance, etc, was a design choice.

 

Might be a lame design choice, but patching a glitch is a bit different. Had they, say, made them completely invulnerable, that may be a valid argument. But they didn't. They patched a glitch
