Why is 7th gear almost non-existent?

Talking about trucks having 18 gears:

What's the point? Whenever I have a trailer pin the guy stays in 1st until Paleto Bay.

Biohazard Abyss

If you ride an Akuma, invisible objects plague the world due to how fast you're accelerating. So I understand the speed cap since the game can't even load palm trees fast enough for you.

7 gears? I've yet to drive a car with 6 gears in real life, let alone see a car with 7 gears.

Why are there so many damn gears?

6 Gears is the new "norm" for decent cars...7 is the new 6. Almost all high end supercars and sports cars now how 7.

For some cars that have a 6th gear, it doesn't do much until you tune it or hop it up. IE. Subaru STI. 155MPH in my friends 04 and the 6th gear was basically for more than the car would give me. ...however with a front mount kit, etc It would absolutely use that 6th.

mostly for fuel consumption, and more power. if your not hauling 2 ton+ loads it may be useless....so basically it's a way to compensate for various weight loads.

Not exactly. It about less load on the motor. Keeping the range of RPM's more steady. Using that torque.

2 ton? An empty 20ft shipping container weighs nearly 5 ton. 2 ton is nothing unless it's a small truck.

No that would be drag and is not the reason for more gears. However yes that does cause more load on the motor. However weight is the important factor with the reasoning of a lot of gears.
