Dont do it too early, my dad made me watchem when i was 5 and i couldnt remember a damn thing. And i didnt watch them again until last year. The magic stands the proof of age thats undeniable, but they just dont blow your mind anymore.

8 years old seems to be the perfect time, all the movies i watched around that age left a mark on me (The Last Samurai, LoTR, Matrix, Alien, Memento, etc).
