GTA 6 in Liberty City again?

Grand Theft Auto V just dropped last September, but it seems Rockstar Games is already hard at work on installment #6?

In our recent interview with DJ Whoo Kid, he leaked a tidbit of info about the upcoming title, saying that he will be playing an unknown role in the next title, which he says will be returning to New York City, otherwise known as Liberty City in the GTA world.

"I was in Call Of Duty and I was in some Grand Theft Auto games. I’m bout to be in the new Grand Theft Auto that takes place in New York again," said the DJ.

For GTA fans, Liberty City is first city the game takes place in, starting with the 1997 original and 2001's breakout installment, GTA III. The series went to Miami with Vice City in 2002, then L.A., and back to NYC in 2008 with Grand Theft Auto IV.

There's no official word as of press time, so stay tuned...

I wont trust any GTA leaks though.

I guess I would be pleased with Liberty City, if they would add a lot of country side. I didnt like that GTA4 was so narrow and tight all the time. The City itself obviously should be like that, but I missed some countryside.

That doesn't make sense. They've just done LC with IV, and 5 years later, again? Rockstar, did you forget Vice City? What about doing three cities in one map?

Whatever. I just hope this time around they bring a proper character cast, with a proper gameplay. Not an anti-fan of GTA V, but I expected something more than restoring old ideas from San Andreas and putting them back in the HD graphics. The game had a crapload of content, yet none of it was truly refined. They could at least implement a drug dealing aspect to the story or even add some silly gang wars. Or an option to plan your own heists, with a deeper planning than "smart or loud". To be honest, the game, though absolutely atmospheric and technically polished up, it felt like a daft blockbuster which aimed for quantity, not quality.

Just read about that.

What can I say, I'm excited :panic:

Liberty City is where so far every GTA could exploit its full potential. I hope this leak turns out being true!

Also the city will nothing compared to LC from GTA IV. A lot changed since then, etc. and with the power of next-gen they can make the reinterpretation of New York I've always asked for.

They also did Los Santos again. Or Liberty City twice already.

Vice City wouldnt look much different to Los Santos these days with modern graphics. The city would look different, but the rest would most likely be the same. Sunny weather with beach and so on.

But yeah, I hope that this time around, they can actually focus on BOTH a great story and gameplay, with IV, I see it failed, they got the story right, but gameplay was all over the place. Had fun for a while, but it really got boring. But the driving physics was very well done in IV, got me hooked on driving and showing it off online.

With V, the story was mediocre, but the gameplay was excellent. Although some things were definitely missed out. Gotta change the habit Rockstar.

Well not sure what exactly you mean by gameplay, I'm assuming you mean physics (RAGE) and that's where I prefer GTA IV too, imo RDR had best version of RAGE yet.

I mean free roaming in single player was as boring as it could get. There was barely anything to do, you couldn't spend your money on anything, no customization, no properties, very few criminal activities, useless interiors, I could go on but I cba.

V had the same problem, except you could spend money on lots of things. There was very few criminal activities again though, and LESS interiors this time. You're welcome to add more if you want.

Gameplay doesn't mean engine. Gameplay is about what you can do in the game, how and with what kind of result.

Still, how comes that I enjoyed GTA IV way more than GTA V???

I keep asking me that and the only possible answer is the setting and that there was only 1 protagonist. 3 wouldn't bother me, but the loading times need to be zero. That transition animation just gets on my nerves and destroys the entire feeling anytime I switch characters.

So I'd say 1 protagonist is good and I'm hoping for Liberty City to make a return in GTA VI

HD Era Los Santos (Southern San Andreas) is beautiful and that an undeniable fact...but as i have said before Liberty City is the Heartbeat Location of GTA,just like how Ryu and Kazuya are to Tekken and Streetfighter.Physical LC has been the set for 8 (?) GTA games out of 15,but Evolution-wise it only 3 Times (2D,3D and HD)...I cant wait to see the Next-Gen Evolution (updated IV's Rendition) of LC with 1000 of NPCs in Star Junction it will be MIND-F*CKING-BLOWING,but at the same time i doubt this news cmon V is just 7 months old (and we are still waiting for Story DLCs) i cant see a new GTA announced not now plus GTA aint Milky CoD or AC,hmm unless maybe that V's $1bn in 3 days is making R* feel so crazy? lol not really.

Liberty City (State?), with the capabilities of PS4/XBO would be outright amazing. I sincerely hope this turns out to be true, GTA IV didn't even scratch the surface of the potential of Liberty City. Think about it, huge detailed map with surrounding countryside, detailed alive city with lots of variety and enterable buildings, a working stock market system that effects the financial center, dynamic weather that grips the city (think power outages, snowed-on roads etc), a working transit system, a working police system, an even more extensive public transportation system, realistic denseness of pedestrian populating the city and so much more. I'm rambling here, but wow. It would make sense, we had sun soaked Southern San Andreas, now Liberty State including Liberty City, Parody of the Hamptons, Niagra Falls. Perhaps even a parody of Boston, Philly and/or DC as second city. My imagination is running wild, but the possibilities are truly limitless.

One can only wish :inlove:

Liberty City State, yes that's what I hope for. Just imagine what they were able to do with 512mb on PS3/360. Now imagine what they can do with 8gb :panic:

Liberty City State (not just LC) Damn that will be madness, esp on PS4/XB1.

Either they "re-imagine" Liberty City, and make it different compared to IV, or they go with Vice City. In fact, why not an entirely new place?

GTA4 had the more realistic Vibe imo.

It felt more heavy. I didnt like the clunky controlly of both, IV and V, but the driving felt a lot better in IV. If they would have just reduce the floating a bit, it would have been perfect.

Regarding Gameplay:

V offered way too few imo. Most of it were just sports and stuff that doesnt have much to do with crime.

A lot of stuff from San Andreas and RDR would have fit in the game, but wasnt implemented. Also the mechanics. Grapping people, rob peds and all that stuff.

With such things you could have fun on the whole map.

Atm V is very nice to look at, but on most places you cant do anything except driving around.

Regarding the map:

YOu have to keep in mind one thing:

If its really Liberty City, it will differ A LOT from GTA4. Just look at The Divisions New York. If thats any indication of what a Next Gen LC would look like, it would be totally legit to do LC a third time. Including countryside

I hope GTA VI will be the start of a new era, and the new Liberty City will be much larger and detailed than the one we seen in IV.

Well yeah. If GTA VI in LC adds more to the game, than remove like IV and V did, it will be amazing. Hope they do not cut some good stuff out of the game like they did with V.

I'd actually much prefer Liberty City over Vice City, it has much, much more potential. So here's hoping this turns out to be true.

...or it could be that LC add-on for GTA Online?

Sounds possible, a new map for O with new radio stations and other sh*t.

Mr. Scratch

A city based on New Orleans would work really well, or just a small town with lots of countryside like Alan Wake.

Agree. If they go with LC again, I want more than just the same city rehashed from IV with better graphics. They don't necessarily have to use NY as inspiration. I have nothing against LC, but I hope they haven't forgotten Vice City. Again, so much potential.

Or they could set it in Carcer City, I know it belongs to Manhunt but it's in the same universe.

Wasnt GTA 1 or 2 set in all three cities? They should do the same again. Just make us go the airport ain each city, and away we go! Or do it like in Bury the Hatchet, we fly long enough in one direction and we "teleport" so the city that's there.

I prefered VC. (compared to GTA3 LC)

And yes, LC has way more potential. So many corners and little ways and paths.

Make more building accessible and give it a LoD near the one of The Division and it will be awesome.

But ther HAS to be a countryside though.

Exactly. As for countryside, the potential is endless, as opposed to the potential for countryside in Vice City, which is pretty much nil unless they include part of the Caribbean.

I assume they'd include the Carraways this time since they cut it in IV.

Hoping for Liberty City - although a proper reimagination of San Francisco would be fantastic too.

But yeah, Liberty City would be my favorite and I hope it turns out to be true.
