Oh man hahaha will he ever live that down. On topic, the heavy pistol and AP Pistol are effective enough. In real life pistols aren't that effective, they're short range and normally deal less damage. Hence why officers not only carry rifles they carry pistols. I'd only pull my officers pistol in extremely close combat situations. Which in GTA doesn't happen very often.

in place of pistol.50 ( due no edition ) , i would prefer heavy pistol ( the champion fed of semi-auto magazine . 18-36 bullets per magazine ) . dot sight seems cause accuracy higher despite cannot increase auto aim range , it's very good for drive by in hands of experts aside using AP .

not only magazine , damage & accuracy , it also longer range than any most of pistol

 

i wish dual wield return , then im dual wielding heavy pistol ( boast large accuracy & 2x extended mag = 72 total plus 2x firespeed )

Idk if you own or shoot guns IRL but pistols are most definitely effective in almost any mid range situation. I've shot pumpkins at 20 yards with a .45 Ruger and its done massive damage, its almost unreal lol.

 

If you're 50 yards away, and you hit the bad guy with a .45 in the gut, he's gonna drop, no problem.

 

Cops shy away from 9mm because its too small of a round for ppl under the influence of narcotics, crack, heroin, meth, all of which almost give the user "super strength" more of an adrenaline rush really. A lot of times they take 2-4 9mm bullets and keep going, so police standard issue in most states now is a .40 caliber or higher if using a personal gun.

OP, if the pistols are not effective for you, your doing it wrong. In-game I have proved again and again that all it takes is one bullet. One bullet from the very first pistol that they give you in the game. So the pistols are effective, it is you that is not.
