The Problem with LSRR

I like the soundtrack mostly but I must say that LSRR is a letdown. It's half good songs like Photograph and Breakup song and half easy listening stuff like High Love.

I was playing and listening to Liberty Rock Radio and I notice this station is hosted by Iggy Pop who I listening to just rant and KDST is hosted by Axl Rose. These are genuine rock legends hosting classic rock stations so I am sure they brought some of that to the song choice. Kenny Loggins with all due respect made cheesy 80s movie themes. They are good and fun songs but not hard rock classics. He might have done good hosting an 80s pop station but not a hard rock classics station. They should have had somebody like maybe Lemmy or Eddie Van Halen hosting it.

*from a distance* Funny you should mention that.

HOW'S ANNIE?

The thing is LSRR isn't a hard rock station. Everything (bar Steve Winwood) does fall under some form of rock. Plus, I think the entire point in the final version of LSRR (not talking about the pre-release version which was mainly hard rock) is to be 70's/80's yatch rock, which Kenny Loggins (along with Michael McDonald) was the f*cking king of.

I couldn't see Lemmy hosting this unless it was real hard rock or borderline metal..Def Leppard is the closest thing to it. I agree that Loggins isn't the best choice but he's more fitting than Lemmy or Van Halen. Most of the song choices aren't bad though, just some of it would be more suited for an older pop station.

It's supposed to be a pop rock station, not hard rock. Why can't any of you understand that?

It's supposed to be a pop rock station, not hard rock. Why can't any of you understand that?Because people hear the word "Rock" in the station title and instantly assume it has to be something to bang your head to, and if you can't it means it's pop.

I however don't share this opinion, I think soft rock/pop rock is far supperior to hard rock.

To each his own, personally I'm glad R* decided to go with a different type of rock this time around. The beauty of GTA's soundtracks is in its diversity.

They could have had a soft rock station but why not also add a hard rock station. This is LA and they can't have a hard rock station when so many great hard rock bands came out of there? Why not at least a 90s rock station hosted by somebody like Dave Grohl?

Yeah, LSRR was completely garbage. I will never understand why Rockstar didn't give us a mainstream rock, hard rock or heavy metal station in the game. All we got was LSRR which was this weak soft rock garbage, Channel X which was all over the place in song quality and VBR which was decent current alt-rock.

Why not at least a 90s rock station hosted by somebody like Dave Grohl?

I absolutely love that idea!

I thought Channel X was great because I like hardcore punk and VBR was very good as well but LSRR needed to be a hard rock station. They certainly did right with the old school hip hop station so why not the hard rock?

They didn't have a hard rock station because it's been done before. What they should have done was give us the ability to play our own songs but nooo, this is Rockstar we're talking about. The only time they did something fans asked them to was when they added a unicorn in RDR.

R* y u no add The Doors?

While I've always stood up for LSRR, it's a travesty that they didn't add L.A Woman into the soundtrack... Or even anything by The Doors.

If anyone is going to talk about the LA rock scene, forget all these sh*tty 1990's- bands like Foo Fighters and Nirvana, and talk about the good bands from Southern California.

Well Nirvana's from Washington so they don't really count.

Iggy Pop is from Detroit and he host Liberty Rock Radio. Chuck D is from New York and he hosted Playback FM.

Right, but he was talking about bands that would have songs on the radio, not host them. And it'd be kinda hard for Nirvana to host it since Kobain's a bit busy atm.

I understand what it's supposed to be, that wasn't the point of my post. Hence why I said Loggins is more fitting for this station than the guys Woggleman mentioned...but songs such as "Higher Love" would fit in better on Nonstop Pop. Just my opinion.

I like los santos rock radio, its a shame there wasn't a sf-ur style station there's soulwax but it's nowhere near as good

I find Los Santos Rock Radio to be just an oldies radio station playing soft rock, pop rock, new wave and similar rock genres that had mainstream popularity in 70s and 80s,more than a hard rock and heavy metal radio station like Vrock or Liberty Rock Radio. The only ones that could be classified as hard rock are Photograph by Def Leppard,Dirty white boy by Foreigner and maybe a few more.It would be better if they made LSRR into something like a driving rock song radio station similar to KDST or a hard rock/heavy metal radio station like Vrock and LRR,and make a different oldies station playing 70s and 80s music(which was actually planned, but was cut from the game).Other than the little dissapointment of LSRR not really living up to the "rock" part of it´s name(I was expecting more hard rock),I like it and it´s even my favorite radio station in GTA 5.It would also be cool if,in some future GTA game or DLC,they make a radio station that plays 1950s rock and roll and 1960s classic rock, like the music in Mafia 2,I´ve heard that in US many oldies radio stations in real life play that music.

So much this. There is literally no excuse for no Doors in a video game entirely set in southern California. I totally hate they went the pop/80's rock way instead of actual classic Californian rock.

There was a Doors song in EFLC so I am sure they could get one. I understand certain artists will never be in because of licensing but if they already one song by them why not another?

It's classic rock, I don't know what you guys are imagining. The tunes really go with the atmosphere and tone of the game, plus, Kenny Loggins did so much more than just Danger Zone, I think OP just lacks the culture to say things like that.

The station goes from cinematic tunes from Steve Winwood to Elton John's picaresque sounds. Rock has undergone major changes during the 1980's, because of the influences of the new born genres. It is more scenic, settled down rock, but it's typical for that period of time. Just because the drummer isn't hitting that hard and the vocals aren't that loud doesn't mean the songs aren't powerful.

Sorry for the necro, but this had to be said. If this is not hardcore enough for you guys, always remember that Rod Steward used to be a rocker aswell.

Greets,

Alex.
