A bit while before, I came up with a theory about the 3D and HD Universe, about the characters.

I posted this a few days ago in a thread in the GTA V section, so I'll just copy-paste it here.

 

 

I think characters from 3D universe does appear in the HD Era, they're maybe just a HD universe redention, They're not the same person we see in the 3D universe, but is the same person.

Confused? Me too, It's kinda hard to explain.

Take this for an example, Carl Johnson is in the HD universe, he may exist but not the same one we see in the 3D universe, he didn't jump universes, Like he's still a member of Grove Street Families, but in the HD universe.

Another example may be Madd Dogg, he may appear in the HD universe, but he's not the same one we see in the 3D universe, he's still a rapper though.

Hell, maybe the events that happened in the 3D universe did happened at the HD universe, Like Claude's story, his quest for revenge may happen in his HD universe version, but it happened in the HD universe LC.

I'm sure you get what I'm saying from the examples above, maybe not, I can't explain it much.

It's just my own theory though, what do you guys think?

I Kinda get it kinda like an Alternate Universe CJ just different an alternate CJ. I remember when I was doing the Hood Safari Mission if you follow Lamar as Franklin after escaping the cops durring the ride they talk about how groove street and the GSF that used to run it I dont remember much but I remember Lamar or Franklin saying that the old folks from GSF are probably coaching little league in the suburbs or are CEOs of some big company. I thought he was talking about CJ and Sweet if you don't believe me go back and play that mission as long as you escape with Lamar you will get that dialogue. Now im not sure how this would make sense with your theory.

 

I dont think that the 3D and HD era are related I think that they are seperate from each other and IMO I like it that way III era is III era and HD era is HD era sure a couple of things might transfer over like Lazlow and a few easter eggs here and there but I guess thats it. Maybe The green goo that The Truth gets in SA has all the answers..

I know Rockstar themselves said that the 3D era is separate from the HD era. That being said, I think the only things that can cross universes are branding (Sprunk, Ammu-nation, etc.) and celebrities, like Lazlow and Fernando.

A lot of time has passed since 1992 or 2001. They may be still the same people, they just lost their desire for crime.

2d and 3d era were supposed to be one single era..Gta3 beta had planned to addsome characters from gta1,gtal and gta2 back...the only one returning,in the final game being El Burro

My theory is that the HD Era and 3D Era are the same era. Now, before you shoot this down, think about it. Take the two Liberty City's, for example. There are many towns/cities in America named Springfield, but they are not the same city. This could mean that two cities, both named Liberty City, could co-exist. This can also explain why there are references to 3D Era characters in the HD Era. It's not a nod to the past, but instead is recognizing their legacies. On the 'Fruntalot' billboard in IV, there is a picture of CJ. He could've possibly gone on to create 'Fruntalot'. Or take OG Loc, as he has albums in the HD Era and even a spot on the Vinewood Walk of Fame. Just think this through. It can make sense.

Just because III's plot sounds like the GTA 1 plot, does that mean they're in the same exact universe? If you could find a source for that, it would be cool.

I gotta go with Rockstar's statement that says that the universes are not the same.

 

But if we're allowed to theorize I have a crazy idea: that every character form the 3D era does exist in the HD era but they didn't do the things they were supposed to do in their 3D counterpart; for example CJ: in San Andreas he had come back to LS in order to assist to his mom's funeral and to restore peace with the Families, but what if he does exist in the HD universe but instead of doing errands for Tenpenny, or discovering Smoke and Ryder's betrayal he just stayed in the hood, hell, maybe in the HD universe he was a Balla.

Not crossing universes, they exist but not the same one in the 3d universe, they have the same personality and stuff.

In My Opinion:

All 3D Era Events happened in the HD Universes, the differences?

• All the events happened in the HD Cities....
• Over the times from 1984 to 2013 the characters from 3d era (like carl) eventually left the criminal world and the ballas and etc came back as they lived happy familys

You can see OG Loc, Madd Dogg and Candy Suxxx references in IV and V. They could have a HD universe rendition too.
