Zyo
American 80s plates are cool, Some of my favorites: New York 1986, released to celebrate the centenary of the Statue of Liberty. Florida 80s Briefly changed to Red text in the mid 80s California 82-87. I know a lot of people love the "lipstick" plate, but the 80s Sunset plate is my favorite califorina tag Out of the U.S, I quite like the French ones from the late 80s early 90s. Silver letters, black background. In the 90s I had a black 16v Golf Gti, (UK car with ugly yellow UK plates) and I got a set of the french black ones to go on the car. Looked good. Also there was talk from Epoxi in the old topic along the same lines, about the old UK plates that used to be black/silver. I wish the UK standard was the classic silver-on-black plate. In my opinion, yellow number plates really ruin the rear of any car. Also the fact UK plates are typically composed of cheap flat plastic as opposed to embossed aluminium (like the rest of the world) looks tacky to me. Malaysian license plates still look a lot like this, My dad has some on his S-Class. Its Black and looks great with the plack plates. Ben73
New South Wales, Australia. I don't like all the fancy ones with pictures and stuff. Just something in nice colours that goes with the colour of your car or accessories. I posted this in another thread, but if you can't find one in the following link that matches yourr car and you like it, your standards are pretty high. http://www.myplates.com.au/products/index.html Even the cops get in on it, good use of taxpayers money. Apparently there is a black Rolls Royce driving around with the plate "1" They have knocked it on the head of having numbers only on a plate. What a load of crap. Kiffster
Gauteng, South Africa (the province with the best looking number plates in the country in my opinion ) This is the old one which is still in use today (I still have it): But since 2010 a new number plate series has replaced the old one and is now mandatory for all newly registered vehicles: Edited April 8, 2014 by W2B

epoxi
UK diplomat plates (different font and numbering convention to normal plates). You mainly see them on big black German saloons but it's always amusing to see a cheap hatchback wearing them: I suppose you can park anywhere if you have a 'D' in the middle of your plate, no one would dare touch it.
