Is anyone else here a Friendly Tanker?

 

Sometimes I like to take my tank out, and just roam the streets of LS. If players are to be targeted by a griefer, I'll be there ready with my tank to protect them and the rest of the city.

 

Unfortunately it rarely works out like this. On two occasions I have decided to take a break from the tank protection and let a friendly have a spin and both times they killed me and then everyone else.

 

If I slowly approach friendlies, beeping my horn repeatedly, they typically respond by shooting at my tank. I'm left with no options but to slowly turn around and drive off, saddened.

 

I remember fondly a BMXer bunny hopping on my tank, but even then it felt like he was just taunting me.

Why are you in a tank if you're friendly? It's the biggest weapon in the game. Of course people expect violence and mayhem when they see a tank rolling by. Tanks are probably the most boring vehicle in the game, too. You're just going to travel around the city at a speedy five miles per hour, maybe kill some people, then you'll inevitably end up in a tank battle with someone who has brought in a tank solely because you have one. There are so many more entertaining things to be doing in this game than being stuck in a tank, in my opinion. But to each their own.

Why are you in a tank if you're friendly? It's the biggest weapon in the game. Of course people expect violence and mayhem when they see a tank rolling by.

It's just a good combo I think. Big scary tank plus a friendly equals a safe environment. I beep excessively and roll up slowly to try and show the player he can holster his weapon. Maybe comical horns would help but plenty deceive with those.

I can be at times. It all depends though because if I'm just driving in a tank pass other players while driving to a friend or any non-killing activity and someone shoots the tank then I'll shoot them. It's all down to provoke.

I don't use tanks(I'm not even at the required level to get one) but I'd be a friendly one, at least most of the time

But they should be able too!

 

What level are you? I tank griefed once, for around 20 seconds, but I didn't like it. Sure I'll suicide bomb but tank griefing just felt like bullying.

I'll pull it out and go cruising sometimes, and watch the white dots to see if anyone comes my way. If they turn around on sight, I let them go. If they attack, I'll shake the turret and give them the option to reconsider before I open fire. Mostly I check the lobby list and see if someone is being picked on, in which case I'll give them a tank to fight back. It's funny how people react though, when one rolls through that isn't on a rampage, you'd think they thought the world was coming to an end.

 

I found 2 guys waiting outside LSC for a player to come out and ambush them, guns drawn on the door and oblivious to me watching (off radar). As soon as his car started flashing to spawn they started shooting, so I promptly blew them up while he escaped. He nearly ran into me, and seemed to panic not realizing I wasn't hostile to him, dropped a grenade out the window and hauled ass the other way. When I didn't give chase, he came back and helped defend me against the 2 guys who had respawned and called in a third friend to blow me up. I ended up giving him the tank after that and signed out to go eat.

I hate to use tanks. I'm more of a 'on foot' person who likes to use his guns over a overpowered tank. I will only get in a tank if I see someone in their tank, and I honestly won't get in the tank to kill random players not in a tank. I'll simply take the tank over to the griefing tank, blow that tank up, then mine right after. If you've ever played with me, you would know I'm telling the truth, since I know it's hard to believe someone only gets in their tank to kill other tanks and not bother to kill others. It's unfair and so I'd rather blow it up right after. If I'm going to get a kill, I want the person to put up a fighting chance. No killing AFK players and players unable to do something about all the dying. I want the fair kill.

I'm a friendly Tanker. I prefer going on long 5 star rampages rather than spawnkilling people endlessly like a lot of people do. That crap's just laaaame.

 

If I'm in a lobby, and I see someone else in a tank is just going around blasting everyone, I'll go grab my own and return off the radar to give them a taste of their own medicine.

 

Shoot at the tank, and I will blast you and move on. I wont spawnkill.

sometimes i go on a killing spree , no matter who it is.. just go for the kills :-)

But! most of the time only use it against jets , tanks and multiple crew members killing innocent loners

Since tanks are a little slower than most vehicles, is it possible to stand on one in motion? If not, I wish Rockstar would think about adding putter seating or riding positions on it.

 

I have never driven one outside of one single tank death match I played months ago. I am no where near rich enough or high enough level to own one.

I only get my tank out to combat tank griefers. I usually hop on everyone chat and let other players know Im not targeting them. Seems to work out fine from my experience.

I've often times brought out my tank and roamed around. They get mad at me when I do it at car shows and people just run from me in lobbies.

 

I've only called a tank in anger twice.

I don't care if you're friendly or not, I'll still try to blow you up if I feel like it. Same if you're not in a tank, really. If I feel like killing you I'm going to kill you. If it's any consolation, I usually die in the process several times before I finally kill the tanker.

YES IT'S GONNA BE A STORY. Deal with it because it's awesome and related to the thread.

 

 

I was in a truck, and somehow it got stuck. I saw a white dot coming towards me, and suddenly I saw it was a tank. I went passive (and out the truck), he got out, and while still carrying a gun, it was literally a moment of trusting each other there (he could get in, and try to run me over, or I could get in the tank and kill him as he wasn't passive)

 

I didn't went in the tank though. Could be a trap.

I send him a message, "Can I borrow your tank for a second?", but in the meanwhile while I was busy typing, he sent a message. "Take it"

 

So I took the tank, and pushed the truck free.

 

Then he sent an answer "It's all yours".

 

 

So I went roaming down the streets with it, and went hunting for a bounty. I wanted to give him the tank back as I thought the bounty was gone. He came back, I killed the bounty, and brought the tank to him (as I highlighted his dot). I got out, went in passive as I still didn't fully trust him. Then I saw a white dot coming (The tank was still there), and I ran to the tank. (This white dot tried to kill me on the way to the tank but since I was in passive, no luck).

 

The tank owner killed him, and I killed him once as a revenge for trying to kill me. He left (Even though he could've just stayed as I hate when a tank keeps killing me so I don't do it to others either UNLESS they did it to me first.) and I went on a cop killing spree, and accidentally blew the tank up along (it was already damaged).

 

Then he sent a message to me, "Want a new tank?". Then I sent him a request to be friends because he was a friendly Tanker!

 

 

TLDR

Whilst an admirer of his work, I've heard one to many reports of his recruits killing civilians.

 

 

Since tanks are a little slower than most vehicles, is it possible to stand on one in motion? If not, I wish Rockstar would think about adding putter seating or riding positions on it

 

You can but it's pretty difficult to stay on and it's gotta be slooooow.

i wouldn't call myself a "friendly" tanker, however i'm fully capable of minding my own business which is usually my intention.

 

people don't realize if i'm in a tank, and i pass by them, chances are i'm paying them no mind, as i would've blasted them from a few hundred feet away if they're who i wanted.

 

no i don't honk my horn, the fact i saw you and decided to pass you by should already say "I'm not challenging you"

 

if you decide to shoot at me anyway, then f*ck you you're getting blown up for being an idiot- you deserved it

 

then i'll go back to what i was doing

I'm not one but its times I have just took it out for a spin just for someone to throw a sticky bomb at it for no reason. So short story short it leads to killing them several times.
