spawn killing and rage quitting: myth or reality?

these forums are full of stories about players spawn-killing others "until they rage quit".

so, i just wanted to make this thread in order to express my opinion that neither of these things have ever happened. to anyone. ever. they are both myths. please feel free to disagree.

has anyone here ever been spawn-killed? i certainly haven't and i never claim to be particularly good at the game.

i have both killed and been killed on those relatively rare occasions when two players spawn next to one another, but never has a situation arisen where i've been unable to take cover, defend myself, or otherwise take some kind of evasive action.

i don't see how repetitive spawn-killing could occur, unless the player being killed is afk.

also, nobody has ever 'rage quit'. why? because it simply isn't a thing...

Rage quitting happens all the time in Captures/Deathmatches.

Because they aren't getting the tide in their favor, they'll quit. But not before berating both the enemy & their allies for it (even though they are statistically the weakest player).

Well I personally have been on both sides of spawn trapping. I do not agree with the passive system so I never use it, no matter the situation. Saying that, sometimes even passive mode cannot save you from someone who knows what they are doing.

I made a spawn killer give up on killing me today, he was really pissed that I blow him and the HPV , so for about the next 10 minutes , I got a few kills at in at first, but then it went down hill, so I just let him, I even went in to passive , so that lead to him running me over, after while, I guess he got bored and took off, while its not the same as rage quitting, I thought it was great .

Now for something more OT, the other day I I had two kills on player, and I really was not even spawn killing him and he left, so it is true, people do rage quit or switch sessions

people are able to spawn kill if they want to

please explain how.

Tanks.

Think about it, even in passive mode, if you can get to a roof, you're still trapped.

Hence the term "Being Spawn Trapped"

Because there is nothing stopping players from doing it ,so unless a player has "spawn to apt" . As long as its set to last location, spawn killing will take place, all you have to do is go to the location of the spawn and kill the player, really pretty simple

he may have left, but he didn't "rage quit", because that's not actually a thing.

How do you know?, do you know for a fact that he did not rage quit, I have no idea if he went to another lobby, do you have any facts to back up your claim of "because thats not actually a thing"?

yeah, tanks are tricky to avoid, but still i've never been killed more than twice in a row. it's not that difficult to go into passive and get off the ground (maybe harder if you're outside the city, but most twankers are urbanites).

and when exactly did "being spawn trapped" become a phrase?

surely the thing stopping them is the other player?

how does the player being repeatedly killed not defend themselves, take cover or run away?

unless, as i've said, they're afk.

Expand the map then see where he is then shoot, simple.

expand the map. see where they are. take defensive or evasive action.

can you prove that it is a thing?

he may have left to find another session. or to start a mission/race. he may have stopped playing because he had something else to do. he may have been disconnected.

however, let's assume that he left because you killed him twice. do you believe that he chose this course of action because an uncontrollable rage had built up within him?

It's been around since the beginning of Online gaming.

Say you're driving along (in May) enjoying your new Zentorno, when some jerk comes around in a tank and destroys you. You decide to not go into passive mode and try to run. You get killed again, you go into passive, you get run over, again and again and again.

Most players Online are Angry, very angry and won't back down from a fight. Resulting in them being spawn killed due to a mixture of low-skill, rage fueled gameplay and their lack of intelligence (not referring to any forum members, just those squeakers and the people who write those stupid comments on the newswire), don't want to go into passive, and get spawnkilled.

I make it my personal mission to spawn kill any twanker who immediately goes into passive mode after being killed

Put your chat to everyone and kill a sqeaker over and over. You'll eventually hear the "F*ck this Sh*t, I F*ckig hate this F*cking game!!!"

It's very real

did he quit because he was enraged? or because he's a dick that likes to increase his k/d stats by picking on low level players and wanted to protect his 20:3 ratio?

i've never heard that, but i must admit it sounds entertaining. i do have my chat set to 'everyone', but the only time i've been 'squeaker abused' was after taking a bounty. i would have left him alone, but his comments inspired me to stick around and exchange kills with him and his friends.

Back in the early days I got killed 19 times in a row by a tank, since I didn't know any better I just let it happen before someone else came and helped me. Still, I see people getting spawn killed all the time and it's usually low level 70's who've just unlocked the tank and want to go on a power trip

Rage quiting is a thing. I've rage quit myself. Smashed the controller and punched a hole in the wall.

And if you have never been spawn killed id like to join the lobbies you're in...and kill you

I've turned the console off in frustration once or twice, but never a legit rage quit unlike some other games.

I don't know about 20 times but I've certainly had it happen 2 or 3 times in a row. In the city it's the luck of the draw where you spawn, if its line of site for the guy who just shot you, your dead again, nothing you can do about it.

You would have to be out in a wide open area to be killed 20 times

A friend and I had a sniper battle with a guy who left his toon standing in Blaine county, we might have got him 10 - 15 times before he woke up and left.

So no, not a myth for sure, but probably frequently exaggerated
