Cult Of Personality
(use spoiler tags where applicable) Old-school U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens is reassigned from Miami to his childhood home in the poor, rural coal-mining towns in Eastern Kentucky. ------ I've only recently discovered this show. At first I wasn't sure what to make of it, however the 2 main characters quickly made it clear that this was a show I wanted to continue with. I'm currently mid-way through the fifth season and it could, depending on how it finishes, end up being my favourite season. So, do we have any Justified fans neighbouring these forums? Creed Bratton
It's a freakin' shame that we didn't have a topic about it sooner. It's one of the best shows ever made. And I don't say that lightly. The quality of the writing is amazing. Quite rare for a crime drama to have two main characters on the opposite sides of the law. I love it. Sad to see it end next year. Every season's been fantastic. Edited April 2, 2014 by The Yokel
Voodoo
I love this show and have been following it since the beginning. It has an excellent pedigree as it's based on an original story by Elmore Leonard. Raylan Givens and Boyd Crowder are among the best characters ever written for television, IMO. They've brought in some interesting guests this season, too. Moonshield
Creed Bratton
If I had to pick a season, I'd probably have to say that third season is my favorite. I loved Neal McDonough's performance as Robert Quarles. Moonshield
Voodoo
Oh yeah, Quarles has to go down as one of the most memorable villains ever. That guy was a multifaceted monster. I'm really liking Michael Rapaport this season, too. His Florida trash is right on. Edited April 2, 2014 by Voodoo
iBUCKEYE
And I was just wondering why there wasn't one of these threads last night...Timothy Olyphant and Walter Goggins F*ckin make that show. Don't even get me started on Dewey Crowe... Edited April 3, 2014 by GankThis110
Otter
I think we used to use the general TV show thread to chat about it. That was dumb. Thanks for posting this, Jedi! Loving this season. The DEA dude is bad-ass. And yeah, Micheal Rappaport is killing it. I had no idea it was ending next year... what's the deal?
Zepren
Thanks Jedi, you got me to continue watching. Watched the premiere then got distracted. Onwards and upwards now though.
Creed Bratton
I had no idea it was ending next year... what's the deal? Seems to be a creative decision: http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/01/14/fx-justified-will-end/ I think it's for the best. Better to end on a high note than overstay its welcome. Moonshield
Love this show. Like Voo, I've been following it from the beginning, and it really just gets better. Neil McDonaugh was diabolically entertaining, but I f*cking love Boyd Crowder. Voodoo
Cult Of Personality
Ever heard of the 20 foot rule? Moonshield
Booze
The entire time I thought that was pretty retarded, because the 20 foot-rule incorporates the officer having to react to sound/movement, identify it as a threat and move his hand to his holster. During a stand-off, obviously all that is skipped. Anyway, yes this show is awesome and I've caught myself copying some of Raylan's movements/mannerisms on more than one occasion since I've started watching it (mainly the thing he does with his hands). Creed Bratton
Great finale of the season. And a great introduction into the final one. Now I can't wait for next year. Hopefully I won't die in a freak accident before that.
Cult Of Personality
I swear no criminal in the series ever gets a cool send off. I couldn't help but feel like Deryl Crow deserved a better death for being such a cool villain. I know you could argue it was done that way so it would be realistic and symbolic. I was really hoping that Kendl was actually the shooter. It would've made for a nice change seeing Raylan wrong.
Slamman
The late, great Elmore Leonard, check out all his books, but I have to say, this is a great memorial to his influence in quirky and funny crime tales. I'm catching up with the XOD, Xfinity on Demand, but some of the earlier stuff is set to expire soon, I plan to get back into them today Voodoo
Slamman
I'm bumping this classic TV series thread because, quite frankly, I'm on a binge marathon of the current season, as it happens, the On Demand service was cancelling availability for half the season's episodes today, so I was watching half of them last night, it's so much more enjoyable watching one after another and having very brief commercials, as On Demand also works, allowing you to rewind and pause at times. It's more like a movie that way as well. I find it rather odd that the late Elmore Leonard is STILL listed as an executive producer of the show, making me wonder if those shows were completed while he was still with us?!?!
