Why do you kick?

I have a question about something that's been grinding my gears the past few days:

Why do people kick you in an open matchmaking lobby? If I come into a room, and see 3 of the same crew tags sure I get that. But yesterday while playing, I was kicked from lobbies that had 1 person (only the host) in them for a substantial amount of time. I was a bit confused why this was happening, so I wanted to see why this happens?

Just a note, I'm level 149, and I understand there is a class of people who kick higher levels, which I have no idea why on that either.

I used to think it was because of my level (I've been at 120+ for a long time)... then I thought it was because I had no mic/headset.

Agree with OP, but don't take it personally.

My stuff is always closed. If someone somehow joins, insta kick. I don't play with randoms (often).

I kicked once. This guy came into the lobby with a mic on. Eating food, blaring his home stereo and trying to talk to everyone at the same time. Instantly kicked him, I don't know if people with mics think it comes across as funny for others, other than that yeah I hear you its annoying. Some people might not even be aware of the option.

Same thing here. I will admit, I kick players sometimes and it's thanks to their mics (being annoying, playing loud music, telling the host what to do, etc. etc.)

It used to grind my gears too but now, no f*cks are given anymore. It's probably because I'm a low level player

I mean if someones being outwardly annoying sure I get it, the music thing is completely understandable.

But what I'm talking about is randomly getting dropped into a job, 1 other person in there who doesnt start the mission after quite a while....the kick. I'm not butt hurt or anything by it, I just don't get it. If no one else is joining, why would you boot the only person who did and be forced to wait longer?

If there's only me and one other player I start to feel nervous so I'll kick 'em

It could be any reason really:

-You're annoying

-You're a kid

-They don't like your gamertag/psn id

-They only want certain people like their crew/friends

-You have different opinions than the host

-The hosts dog was kicked and he felt like being an asshole

-Your connection sucks

Same here or if they mange to jump in in that split second it takes me to close the lobby.

Or if i'm hosting RR anybody over 75 is kicked because they can start there own Rooftop Rumble

The only reason I kick players is because I don't play with randoms, and sometimes even when the lobby is closed it has let people in. I've completely lost patience with obnoxious mic pollution and do-nothing greiftards, they have soured me from playing missions with anyone other than my friend I usually play with. Unless I met someone in a free roam lobby who was cool, and that's only happened twice, I'll invite them and only them. Other than that, off is the general direction in which randoms can piss.

In other words, it's a conditioned response.

Ok, so I didn't know you could get placed into a closed lobby. that makes sense.

What doesn't is the fact that you don't want to have anyone over 75. Wouldn't that mean it SHOULD be a quicker run because they've obviously done this particular mission a few thousand times?

No it doesn't - it lets people in because your online/ options/ matchmaking is not set to closed. The default is open and if you wait to close it after you've hosted a job randoms will get in.

I've had mine closed for months and do solo missions all the time, nobody gets in.

I think this is the reason most people get kicked, If you don't want randoms set your options correctly

Yes, it does actually, I'm fully aware of how the options work and that's the first thing I check. The menu is still buggy, last night it let 3 people by while closed, and kept changing my spawn weapon to the stupid micro-smg, even spawned me once with it after I'd switched it back to special carbine. I don't know if it's server related or what, but it does happen.

Either you never play random, or you're lying about never getting kicked.

I don't think you do - You wouldn't be checking anything if you Did! Your Personal options found under the Online / Options / Matchmaking set to closed.

Now whenever you start a job matchmaking will be closed and you dont have to do anything - no one will get in

My character looks so sad when that happens.. :(

Just kicked to the side of the road like that.smh..

I just tell him or her to cheer up. They were probably assholes. You wouldn't want to play with them anyway.. :p

Crunch McThornbody

When hosting missions I don't recall ever kicking someone (don't know what button to press anyway :) ). but joining random missions I find I get kicked a LOT, last night I got kicked 3 times in a row, the hosts were doing Coveted / Rooftop Rumble.

My character is female level 183, perhaps that's why? I don't do them for the RP or money as I have a high enough level and have over 3 million from doing jobs, I just like running missions with other players, especially when I don't feel like participating in the eternal deathmatches of freeroam.

I usually play with lower level friends and refuse to deal with any potential griefers. Especially during races. Insta kick for me if they join the lobby before I close It.

I have never kicked other players, but they use to kick me when I do rampage with the P-996 Lazer jet.

Why close the lobby each time?

You can use the option menu inside online in Free Roam, and you can set matchmaking to closed. This will make sure each time you host an job, it is set to closed by default. But you can manually open it if you want when setting up the job.

I only kick idiots...

If in a co-op job and you try screwing with players, you get kicked when its over.

In races, if you purposely ram me or anyone else.. you get the boot.

I really don't care how bad anyone plays, i don't mind... But the first sign of being a goof gets you the kick a roooney.

I only kick for three reasons. First one being if the person has a mic on and either has it turn up too loud with alot of static or is playing obnoxious music. Second being if they don't contribute to the mission by purposely dying or just sitting there. Last being if its a 4 player mission and i want to play with only crew and forget to switch it closed invite session which i rarely do but i dont kick often and when i do its because im generally getting annoyed by something someones doing.
