I'm looking for a player on PS3 who has the special or collector's edition willing to drop the hammer for me. I understand that this is the only item that sticks online while the other weapons won't.

apparently you need to be holding a weapon for the hammer to stick

Here's a few tips for getting it to stick:

 

1) Have the pistol out

2) Don't run over the dropped hammer, jump over it as I've noticed that it disappears when you run over it

 

Might take a couple of tries though
