Car Upgrades and Winning Races.

"Win so and so races in this class to unlock this bullsh*t."

I've been curious about this for the longest time. I know people have said in the past that you can race in any class, but has that been changed? The only stuff I see about it is from back in October and November. I haven't seen anything mentioned about it in a while.

Surely Rockstar wouldn't make it that annoying and time-consuming... Would they?

...

No, they probably would.

Super car wins count towards all vehicle classes.

Pretty sure this is true.

But I also remember this being discussed not too long ago as I actually posted in one of those discussion threads. Maybe it was the big Q&A thread.

If I recall, any win in a class will count towards unlocks for any class 'beneath' said class.

So, if you're racing Sports, you'll unlock the coupes/sedans/etc., but not the Super class. Super class unlocks all.

Just stick a thread in the meetups section and get someone to trade wins with you.

Motorcycle counted towards all for me. So, I don't think your statement is completely accurate

That's good to know.

Now I just need to actually win races.

Ask someone to trade wins with. Half of my wins were trades, the others were pure luck. Now I can keep up pretty good even though the occasional rammer gets me up the booty. Edited by Shadow_Titan17

Not very exciting, but that would be less frustrating.

I can't find many lobbies (any at all) with Customs, Catchup or Slipstream turned off and I'm not into the idea of joining a crew just to be able to do this with any efficiency.

I think it is just a misplaced modifier.

The supercars require the most so it might say for competition suspension:

Win 20 more races in this class to unlock this.

Whereas a muscle car might say for the same competition suspension:

Win 16 more races in this class to unlock this.

They aren't saying win 20 supercar races to unlock the first and win 16 muscle car races to unlock the second, they're saying win any 16 races to unlock the suspension for the muscle car class and win 20 races to unlock the suspension for super cars.

This is a grammar fail. It should say "Win X more races to unlock this in this class." All wins count towards unlocking all things, with the ultimate goal being 50 wins for chrome, I believe.

I know this to be true because I've only won 64 races and I have a cars in my garage from the super, sports, sports classic, muscle, SUV, compact, and motorcycle classes in my garage and I have all unlocks available for all of them, which shouldn't be possible if I needed 15-20 wins in each of their classes.

Yeah it's boring as hell, but don't need to do it all in one go.

Even getting 1/2 the upgrades gives you a fighting chance,

Super and Motorbikes races unlock all upgrades.

BTW, not all upgrades need a specific class. Sometimes it says "win 'X#' of races to unlock this item" and sometimes it says "win 'X#' of races IN 'Y' CLASS to unlock this item", so for the latter ones, you can race in compacts or vans for all the game cares.

It's not a tier/class thing, I think all classes go towards all classes, really. I've done a lot of supercar races yet my Sandking is fully modded (not one race with the Sandking). When a new update came out I would do the same thing: look at how many races needed to be won until next upgrade, host a race with a friend, win, look at how many are needed now. I don't do that anymore as I got everything but it's something to keep in mind. I usually check using my favorite car as reference. :)

I never got into the racing for a number of reasons, but is gathering wins as much of a chore as it seems?

With so many variables involved... Yup...
