Tank Drivers Immune to Mors Payments?

This started with 1.08. From the notes:

 

"Players in Tanks now have more protection from other players attempting to deliberately give them a Bad Sport rating."

 

Had something to do with guys ramming their PVs into someone in a tank to get them into bad sport. This update basically made it so tanks don't have to pay insurance when they are stationary. 3 months later and it's still not fixed.

If you are attempting to kill a tank by ramming your car into it... well you are doing it all wrong, but as the tank driver knows their risk bringing a tank into the map, they should have the onus on them.

Too add to what some of what you have said without getting too far off topic, I think blowing up PV's shoulding give you bad sports, but the people who blow the vehicles up should have to pay the fees. Maybe make the fees double what they are now to help discourage it without making it such a horrible thing to do.

 

 

Well sort of off topic.

 

But players use the expensive PVs in free roam to attack players in free roam. At that point theres nothing you can do besides go passive and hide or leave the session.

 

In the end insurance makes no sense until its all $200 for to the owner to replace his/her own PV. And remove bad sports all together.

 

 

90% of free roam player in cars will shoot on sight. Those in PV with bullet proof back ends will use the bullet proof back end to their advantage.

 

 

Funny thing is the rules are different with tanks...

I have noticed that when someone in a tank destroys your personal vehicle, you are stuck with the Mors payment. How long has it been like this? I am assuming its not supposed to be this way since it tells you the tank driver paid the fee when in fact you are stuck with the payment.

 

I feel like Rockstar is doing everything in their power to make me hate tanks more and more.

There is some misinformation in this thread, so let me compile the good answers. Tanks usually do not pay insurance or get bad sport warnings since patch 1.08. R* was trying to prevent players from being able to put tank drivers in bad sport lobbies by ramming them with cars and this was an unintended side-effect. Rarely, a tank driver will get a warning and pay insurance but it's apparently random. It has nothing to do with whether or not the tank is moving.

Well not really. Say you're in your tank, minding you own business as I often am. Some plonker sees a tank and instantly has to annoy it 'cos they're stupid. Said plonker rams their PV into the tank and the game says the guy in the tank killed the aforementioned plonker. To me, the plonker committed suicide and the plonker was the master of their own demise and the guy in the tank is innocent in this instance.

Lately I only get a tank to kill a tank, and I leave people alone (even honking to show I am friendly) and I still get members of the al-qaeda Lemming Squad running into me. I'm okay with paying for their cars if it means when an asshole tanker goes after me in my Adder (let the flaming begin), or Roosevelt or any expensive car, that asshole tanker pays my bill.

I dont stash money on a second char, I just don't have money. I do RR if I need some quick cash. I kill people a lot and they pay for it. But I never do it in a tank. I don't get why people get in tanks, just shows your a weak player.

Never undertood why this is, or why it's not been fixed...but yes it is, and yes it's not been fixed.

 

Its because people purposely ran into tanks to give people bad sports points & sometimes the person that blows up the car still pay for it

Even if that's the underlying reason, the end implementation is complete BS. The other day I was in AmmuNation, my vehicle being parked outside, I've heard a loud explosion, and got the "your personal vehicle has been destroyed" message. After walking out and being killed a dozen times, upon calling Mors, sure enough, I had to pay the full insurance amount. The game should be able to recognize empty/parked/stationary personal vehicles.

Most of the time my crew and I are messing around, and then some randoms think their tough so they start things. At that point when I call my tank and protect my crew while the random keeps coming for more, I as the tank driver am not going around starting things but I'm finishing them. I shouldn't have to pay insurance for random assholes who don't get the screw off message that my tank says.

This happens when the tank isn't moving. he can destroy many personal vehicles as he wants. it was stated in the patches some where. *You don't get badsport if your tank isn't moving" So if a car ran into you. you won't pay for it or get badsport. it also affects the cannons as well

so if someone shows up and starts something with you guys, then your answer is to roll out a tank? so basicly it's atleast 3 against 1, are you guys not good enough to take care of one person without needing a tank, because it seems like 3-1 odds should be no problem.
