Only had a few Free Aim public sessions but I have noticed slightly more friendly attitudes amongst players, for example I managed to get 6 random people driving around with me for a while....which was nice, approaching randoms does not always invite gunfire and also a greater range in job invites without a single RR or Coveted. Don't get me wrong, eventually it devolves into chaos with some pleb in a tank, but takes considerably longer than 99% auto-aim sessions I have been in. Possible factors; little kids don't know how to turn off the aim-assist feature or simply don't have the skill for free-aim? My experiences could all just be coincidence of course...

 

What are other folks opinions?

You realize the size between the two lobby types are grotesquely skewed right? What I mean by this is those that play in FA are in the extreme minority of all GTA players.

 

More people = higher randomness = higher potential for garbage.

yea the shooting mechanics are but i dont think so, thats like saying everyone that plays free aim shooters have skill, its not hard to aim, especially on this game where most guns have little t5o no recoil

This post isn't really to do with the mechanics or skill used in the two aim types, more so your encounters with randoms and how the entire lobby plays when you compare the two. and FYI SteveNYC81 I did a search for topics with Free-Aim and aim assist in the title and yielded very few results. Yeah I realise the FA/AS ratio is appalling :(

If you use auto aim you're likely a lazy, overweight, unhygienic, unemployed slob.

 

If you use assisted aim you likely don't properly suck but still probably sleep with the night light on.

 

If you use free aim you're awesome well done.

It's already starting. I'm not going to even involve myself, I'm 32 years old. There is no point getting into a pissing contest, with people 10 years younger than me over aim preferences.

I was really confused a few weeks ago when I made the real switch to free-aim (real switch meaning I'm in these all the time now) because I would free-aim against players but lock-on AI. That's the reason I made the switch in the first place because AI are tough to kill with no aim assist but I love the long gunfights against players. Turns out my system was glitch or something as I got in a friends game which was Traditional GTA and then I went back to free-aim and it was pure free-aim. I'm still not sure which one is the correct aiming that I had or now have, to be honest. I kind of miss locking on AI.

There's many topics like this one already and most of those are people going back and forth of being superior (playing in free-aim) to those who want to have fun and not worry about aiming too much (playing in auto-aim). Honestly, play how you want, enjoy your game. Telling people how to play their game they paid for is a bit dumb.

same people will go 5 and 24 in a game like Battlefield where you actually have to aim.

More RP for missions with free aim also it looked like -b I don't think i'll ever go back to aim assist unless I wanna TDM/LTS.

It's GTA Online. It doesn't matter who you are or what you do or how you play. At some point - it's inevitable, like taxes and gravity - some stupid little sh!tbird will turn free roam into a death match.

 

Aiming mode is completely, 100%, undeniably... irrelevant.

You can grief and troll everyone in asst aim and feel like you're doing gods work, a noble cause etc. I don't feel the same way in free aim lobbies, I go in there to keep it chill and earn higher RP for a second character.
