Am I the only one who doesn't like to mess around in GTA?

When i play GTAs, I never go mess around with cops, and I'm always doing mission continuously. And after finishing the storyline, I play it again!

Is that normal?

I like to finish the plot before I goof around. No fun for me until I beat the game!

Drunken Cowboy

Totally fine, but I don't know if you're getting your money's worth.

I'm not a HUUUGE fan of beating hookers/cop rampages, but a few rounds of bowling or darts can be nice to slow the pace of the game a bit.

For those of us who have played since 3 (or earlier), it's just not all that fun anymore to "mess-around". Killing civilians and cops can only be fun for so long.

Well the whole point of open world games like GTA is that you can explore and do whatever the hell you want, when you want. To just do the missions and nothing else... that's just wrong man!

I've been playing GTA since the first game in '97/98, and I've just always been doing silly stuff in between missions or after I've completed the main story. Stuff like trying to collect every vehicle in the first game and parking them all someplace big enough, which worked perfectly fine for the most part. All the vehicles always remained where I left them, no matter how many they were, something that was impossible to do in later games in the series because the cars would always disappear.

Then in GTA 2, one of my all time favourite things to do, was to cause total havoc throughout the city with the awesome, seemingly indestructible Rhino. I also loved just taking a bus and being a normal bus driver, following the bus route and picking up passengers lol.

And in every subsequent GTA, I would just explore and do whatever when I'm not on a mission, like pushing people around, down stairs or in front of oncoming trains in IV with its glorious Euphoria, or simple pissing off the coppers as much as possible to see how long I can survive.

I can only stay interested in the story/missions for so long before I feel the need to do something else. Makes the games more fun and interesting that way in my opinion.

No man, you can do whatever you want.

I'm fairly similar. However, I do play with the other activites in-between missions, but I treat them as actual hobbies.

In fact, I play GTA like a psuedo-life sim (Note for the fanboys: I know it isn't a life sim but that doesn't mean I can't play it like one). That means I walk around everywhere, focus on the missions but do stuff on the side.

But that's the magic of GTA, dude. You want to just play the missions and then do it again? You go right ahead. GTA is designed to let you play however you want and experience the campaign at your own pace.

Nothing wrong with that at all.

I do the same thing...

But I must say, messing with the cops sometimes is fun.
