Warning...Cloud Server Lost my Character

Yesterday i decided to play under my 1st PSN account, Dlow1962

I have played a little under this account since i got the game in late October

I logged in as usual and went to GTA online ......everything seemed fine

 

I only have one Character under this Account .and have leveled it up to 27

I played for about 2 hours but kept having issues with the loading screens when joining a mission and while between missions ......it would hang me in the air and never load me into the next mission or back into freemode

I thought my internet connection must be acting up, I rebooted everything and check my connection on the computer.....nothing showed up as wrong or raised any flags

 

The first time or two this happened i would quit the game and restart the game............after about the 3rd time i just started signing out from PSN while i was hung in the air, this would give me the prompt that i had to be connected to play online and then return me to story mode, where i would sign back in and return to GTA Online (this was a lot faster than quitting the game and restarting it)

 

after this happened 8 or 9 more times i signed out and quit the game for about an hour,

when i returned to the game an hour or so later when i went to join GTA online it took to to the Character creation screen........I had no character, However it did show me as having just over 300k in the bank which was more or less correct........i restarted the game 2 more times thinking it wasnt loading my cloud save correctly.....nothing helped

 

I thought maybe since it shows my money in the on the character creation screen and my progress still shows up on social club (I checked) all i needed to do was just recreate my Character..........I did

I started over as a Level 1 no apt Nothing, i had to go thru the online prologue once again

once i completed the prologue i was hoping that my apt would still be with me (lower floor at Weazel Plaza) .......nope i was homeless but i did have just over 300k in cash ........

My Racing stats (Win/Loss) still showed up correctly which looked odd as i joined races being under level 6 with with a 35 wins and 40 losses

as i started leveling up and unlocking the missions and jobs, the ones i had completed before would show up with the check mark .......so it seemed to have kept my progress or at least what i had completed

 

Other than my Apt i didnt loss a lot, 99% of my cars were still mostly stock except for a Sandking and GT Felon a buddy had upgraded for me to keep back during the billionaire days.......but even with them i didnt lose any of my earned money

 

I did emaill support, but i figure since i recreated my character it probably over wrote the lost one........I didnt bother me to much as i us this account once in a while to see if any of my Original friends have gotten the game, or maybe see i have it and get interested enough to go buy it......

 

But damn it could have been my Main playing account ........then i would have been pissed

 

Be warned if the servers are acting funny ....who knows what will happen

OP if you recreated your character in the same slot, your original is almost certainly gone - as you suspect. That's how it used to go...

 

So, to your warning I would add this reminder. If your character disappears, DO NOT overwrite it.

same thing happened to me but on xbox. lost a level 80 dude the 400,000 apartment and a garage full of cars

told RS about it and it looked like tuff sh*t till i complained some more and they gave me 2mil gta$

and as a bonus when i started a new dude on that slot(i made extra man for Vday car) at the point when you unlock

apartments the 400,000 apartment was there waiting for me but the garage was empty(don't think RS did that though)

 

short version = complain and moan over at RSsupport unlikely to get your man back(even if you hadn't made a new one)

but your new dude may get some inheritance

Sometimes cloudsevers will make a character temporary unavailable but that doesn't mean they're gone... unless you overwrite them.

Yeah I knew you were screwed when you created another character over your slot 1 character.

Shouldn't have created a new character you would've eventually got your character back

when you have a time out and are sended to SP and right after it you try joining a friend?

you get the message unable to load your character progres..

along with the options "try again" "continue" "back"

i always choose back.

had my character deleted once by choosing "try again".

If this happens, NEVER MAKE A NEW CHAR! Dont be impatient, wait a day and come back.

It's only a level 27 not a big loss. Just have a friend invite you to RR there your back to lvl 27 in less then 2 hours. I lost 4 lvl 20's character during GTAO launch week.

This. If a character or vehicle disappears, don't be so hasty in replacing it. I've had my character vanish, didn't make a new one, and the next day it was back. Same with missing cars, don't buy something that will replace the slot right away, a lot of times they come back too.

I was fairly certain when i re-created my character it would overwrite my existing character .......i wasnt that worried about it, because this is just a goof off account and i was only leveled in the mid 20s or so, .....

 

The Post is a warning to others NOT to do what i did........
