TLOU next gen = Gta V next gen?

So with Sony officially announcing that The Last of Us is coming to PS4, does this make anyone think that it's now more likely that GTA V will come to next gen? Some people were saying they wouldn't do it with a game that's been out as long as GTA, but TLOU has been out longer.

Yup, because R* does what Sony does all the time...

How genius of you to deduct all this, OP.

Grand Theft Amanda

That's good news. I won't have to play that game on a crappy console lol

I don't believe they will release GTA V for the current gen.

Maybe in five years.

My point wasn't about Sony/ R*, it was more about there now being a precedent for a game that's over a year old now coming to next gen, but I do see everyone's point. I guess if it was coming to next gen it would most likely be in development by now so this won't change much, but if they were still 50/50 on whether to bother or not this could sway them?

If any new version of GTAV is going to come at this point it would be a PC version and even then no one is certain. I forget who it was but some higher up at R* or Take Two said they go where the demand is and the demand for a PC version is much higher than a current gen version.

I have to be the only soul who could give a crap about that game. There's no precedent for a GTA game to come out on two generations of consoles, so I doubt it'll happen. It looks great anyway to someone who grew up playing Ghosts 'n Goblins. Kids today are graphically greedy.

You think TLOU coming out to PS4 would sway them to shift some of their focus on porting over a title they are already struggling to handle on the 360?

SP maybe will come to PS4/Xbox one soon but I highly doubt MP will come along with it any time soon.

Didn't someone find the OS names of the PS4 and xbone in the games code or something? Let's face it Take Two and R* want to make money and a next-gen version of GTA5 would sell well, why wouldn't they do it? If they are working on a PC version (they almost definitely will be) then they are most likely working on the next-gen versions at the same time.

Naughty Dog is an example of a gaming company doing literally almost all of the right things. They've come a long way since Crash Bandicoot and their range and scope is top notch at the moment.

TLOU is truly one of my favorite titles of any kind of all time. It's a title actually worth playing again, and doing so with some changes + the whole story + enhanced graphics? What's not to love? More importantly: http://www.engadget.com/2014/03/06/the-last-of-us-movie/

But, enough of that. OT: WHO THE HELL KNOWS? NO ONE. It really doesn't matter to me considering Online play will continue at least until 2015.

Do you play GTAO?

also my statement was meant towards consoles in general not just the 360, I'm sure the ps3 version faces the exact same issues.

Yes, but it seems like people complain about so many different things that it's hard to know what people mean when they say problems haha. And yes the PS3 has it's own fair share of problems.

Sarcasm aside, this isn't the same scenario as destiny, that's being released at the same time for both generations.

I think the point this guy was trying to make is that 'TLOU' proves that it can be done, so why can't R* do the same with GTA5?

People complain about cash cards and yet they are willing to buy the same game over again.....

What proof do you have that everyone who is against micro-transactions are the only people who want gta on PS4, xbone, and PC?

GTA Online on current gen systems would be EPIC.

Hopefully they would increase the player count to at least 32!

How did you type that thing after 'life'? My keyboard from Valve doesn't have it!

OT:The two have no correlation directly.

But it shows companies are porting games to next Gen so it shows that it's a possibility.

It doesn't make me think it is any more likely because the comparison is irrelevant. TLOU is an easier game to port, and that is before you also consider that it is also a single platform exclusive. GTA V is a more complex game, and Rockstar are going to have to maintain it on two fairly distinct systems (Xbox 360/PS3), as well as porting it to both current gen consoles. A PC port figures in there somewhere too.

Anyway, and this is just my opinion so mileage may vary, but I don't think there's a whole lot to consider here other than GTA V will be ported to current gen consoles because it makes business sense to do so.

Why is it any simpler? If anything GTA would be the easier port seeing how it's already a multi-platform game, all r* would have to do would be to change graphics settings, optimize it for the new hardware, and bang they're done. Obviously it would be more complicated than that, but nothing that 6-12 months couldn't solve. If they can do a PC version they can very easily do a PS4 and xbone version, seeing how they are both based on the same architecture as PCs.
