How the hell are other players catching up to me?

I drive a fully upgraded Entity XF in free roam and I've noticed other players in low tier cars such as the Jester are catching up to me and in some cases passing me during car chases especially on straight roads. Are these people modders? SP to MP glitch? NOS? Is it because I use the brakes too much when turning? Did rockstar nerf all the vehicles? I'm not the better driver because I don't drive pedal to the metal?

Possibly lag? Maybe you took off the top upgrades so it make you slower. Also if you break even a little bit you slow down enough for them to continue to catch up if they didn't tap the breaks.

1. Slipstreaming. This includes slingshot sliptreams when two players keep slipstreaming each other and stay at a fast speed.

2. Better use of the track. (for example, staying on the inside of turns, not weaving, and the like).

3. 'Catch up' is not your friend.

4. Most cars in Online have very similar top speeds, regardless of what the stats say.

5. Or, they could just be cheating, but before assuming that make sure you can discount any of the above first, because there is nothing more uncool than labeling somebody a 'hacker/glitcher' when they are just better with the game, or have had better luck on the track that race.

do me a favor,

jump in your entity in SP mode, and notice how it just seems to have major speed and just punches out of there, compared to MP...

i came to the conclusion that the speeds in MP are heavily nerfed otherwise the game would lag out of control.

i was following a teammate the other day in my turismo, he was in a pickup truck and i could barely stay with him...it seemed as if his truck was going the same speed as me in a supposed much faster car...

so this def isnt your imagination...

also depend on the upgrades and how you applied them. buy the turbo and then the transmission and the turbo uninstalls, so you have to rebuy the turbo again. i don't know why it's flawed like this, but it does happen.

you could be braking too much possibly. i rarely brake hard, usually just off throttle a bit early and turn which slows me just enough to rail around the corners keeping my momentum up. driving sytle does matter though even when you think it wouldn't matter. i've passed/evaded many vehicles that were faster than me only because i drove smarter than the other guy.

I'm not sure if you're saying cars in MP are slower or the opposite.

The cars in MP are much faster then online since it doesn't require the cars to stay up with the servers.

Can you confirm if the Turbo shows up as greyed out or not when you do this? I wonder if any cars I have suffer from this..or does it just show up as installed but isnt installed? Good to know, thanks.

I heard modders can add in 3 turbo boosters in your car. which can go faster than an adder.

I never brake in this game. They slow you down way too fast.

If said person is going 120 mph and you hit the brakes when you are going say 140 it will slow you down too much. When that happens you have to build back up all while the other person was already accelerating thus they can catch you.

Also never drive in a straight line. What I see alot is people can't take corners like us racers. I just let off the throttle which will slow me down enough to hit the apex.

The only time I ever try to brake is when someone is beside or right behind me. Slam on the brakes and watch them flew past you. Time it with a road to make a nice getaway. They will lose alot of ground doing that. Also find an area you like driving in and when time comes dash for the area and beat them with your knowledge of that area.

This might have happened to some people during one patch. Although ive never had it happen nor met anyone who it actually happened to. I think a few people forgot to buy turbos and said this and people just started it repeating it as fact like so many other things you hear on this board. And it most certainly has not happened has not happened in the last 5 or so patches

You can't add more then 1 turbo in it with the hex editor. Only iso modders can make their cars fly/go 1000MPH everywhere.

The turbo doesn't get uninstalled. I don't know where he came up with that.

well i could be wrong and i'd admit it, but there were some threads about it. yes i probibly did jump the gun on that one since i have not needed to upgrade a vehicle for quite awhile now and never noticed it myself either. if so then sorry about that OP my dumbass mistake, but it would make sense though if he's having this problem on the long straights as well.

You can. you just need a modder to add 3 turbos to the vehicle as if you were adding the turbo at LSC. then he can give it to you.

server lagg

makes your game freeze for a second or two before unfreezing, youll be in the same position where you froze while whoever was chasing you will have either caught up or be way past you
